You'd rather not acknowledge the potentially violent hatred the MRM is fomenting. Cooler heads don't call for men to fuck women's shit up. Gloria Steinem has not made calls to violence. You're making false equivalences and derailing. I don't think we need to chill out and accept that calls to violence in the MRM are OK. I think we need to be enraged and hold people accountable.

Women were freed from their role, but men weren't freed from theirs. When were women freed? Can you give a date? Most women are not freed, dude. We've got a long way to go. I suppose racism is over too now. How long have we been hearing such sentiments from the right? Men haven't really begun to understand feminist critiques of masculinity or patriarchy. We do need a movement in which men deconstruct toxic gender roles, combat patriarchy, fight racism, fight homophobia, and wage class war. But t…

But if men fuck around and someone complains, that's shameing natural male sexuality, right Typhus? No jail time required. Nudge, nudge. Wink, wink.

Most domestic abusers are not crazy. They have no discernable psych pathologies. Medication does not help. Their problem is that they are entitled and aggrieved and they don't give a shit how their actions effect their victims. It works for them. They get something out of it. Being an asshole has it's advantages for people who feel their victims are beneath them. Eliott Rogers was treated for Apspergers, he was on Risperdone, an antipsychotic. I'm depressed, I've been on Risperdone. I've never g…

Except you don't. Paul Elam is still widely venerated here. Fuck their shit up? Bash a violent bitch? There's plausible deniability built in to these statements, sure, but these are calls to violence. No one on my side of the aisle is unclear about that. We've heard veiled and overt threats so many times before. And Paul Elam is not the only one. Incitements to violence are not uncommon on this sub.

I know it's not poetry, but yes, I'm entirely serious. White-supremacist, capitalist patriarchy is on the verge of causing a mass extinction event, or rather the the extinctions have already started, but it might not be too late to pull back before the face of the planet is irrevocably changed. I know straw-feminism is easier, but do try to make an effort to understand a concept before you dismiss it. Here's a reference to an article by bell hooks on patriarchy. http://imaginenoborders.org/pdf/z…

Dehumanizing an opponent is the first step. Add aggrieved entitlement, and you've got a killer combo. Just ask Elliot Rodgers. It's not as though reactionaries inciting violence is all that rare.

Yes. We do. We understand it's a dog whistle indented to incite angry white men, some of whom will turn to violence.

I understand y'all hate feminist men. And I bet being a decent human being does help with the ladies. But to be clear I'm not a feminist revolutionary because I need pussy or approval. I'm a fag, I like the dick. I'm a feminist revolutionary because white-supremacist, capitalist patriarchy is on the verge of causing a mass extinction event and needs to be stopped if humanity is to have a future.

I forgot you feminists have no sense of humour. So sorry. I missed the humor in your joke about raping women in wartime. I notice you have a problem with women being whores but not with men being cannon fodder. As a former man-whore myself, some honest, consensual prostitution doesn't bother me. An army pillaging and raping bothers me quite a lot. Turning women who've lost everything to war into whores for their invaders is something I have a problem with. For an example of sexual trafficking of…

uses his power to make statements that go directly against the patriarchal institution he represents in order to enact change for future generations. Or maybe he's doing some damn good PR for an institution that has already done enough damage, and which really just needs to die already. It rapes kids, keeps people ignorant, fleeces poor people of their money, fights women's rights, and is in bed with organized crime. paranoid feminist Utopia LOL What? Care to tease that out a bit? What was paranoid or utopian in what I said? And then it got brought back, because the underlying cultural values never changed. It was brought back in 1940 during WWII. A war that was extremely popular. Cultural values changed very much during the Vietnam war. Many people realized the US was not a force for liberation but for imperialism. The US hasn't fought a just war since WWII. It's that men and women start sharing the sacrifi…

What a surprise! MRAs are liking the leader of one of the oldest patriarchal institutions. An institution that has done so much throughout history to insure the options for women were nun, baby machine, or dead witch. Before atheism became a popular choice men such as yourselves looked to the church for the justifications for your misogyny and entitlement. Now that citing church doctrine isn't as viable, entitled men have to come up with their own justifications. Enter the MRM, where fresh justi…

entire system would leave a void that would require some sort of compensation within the government to accommodate. The removal of the entire system has been accomplished before. The original Selective Service law in the US was repealed in 1920. What compensation would have to be made? The draft hasn't been used since the Vietnam war. No one has talked seriously about using it. It's pretty much dead except for the registration requirements. The US military is controlled by a captured government.…

Activism would be required to change the draft to include women, and activism would be required to kill the draft. You'd rather work so that more people die rather than work to keep people from dying. Actually, you'd rather do neither since we all know MRA's never do anything but bitch and dox. Meanwhile actual feminists are involved in anti-war movements. Once it's something 100% of the country is forced into, it'll be a lot easier to campaign against it and have it removed altogether. Sure. Ri…

Perfect MRA response. More women dieing in wars for oil is my kind of activism. But abolishing the draft, why that sounds too hard. I'd probably have to leave my chair for that, so it's a non-starter. You do realize that the anti-war movement caused such headaches for the power elite that the draft has not been used since the Vietnam war. And feminists have been integral to the anti-war movement since it's inception. You're welcome. Doh! What's an activism?

That's how logical argumentation is done. Says the guy in a reactionary movement with no academic legitimacy or peer-reviewed body of work who's thought leaders are people like GGW who admits she can't find a use for a book and TyphonBlue who croaks "male disposability" in response to any input. I adore how pretentious you are. Don't ever stop.

LOL. Because every opinion needs to be backed up by a wall of citations, but only if you're a feminist. MRAs can shitpost about straw-feminism all day long without being asked to back up a single thing. Nice double standard you've got there.

And of course you ignore the feminist work on anti-circumcision. As a feminist who was doing anti-circumcision work in the early '90s I always find it hillarious how you MRAs pretend it was you rather than us who started the anti-circumcision movement.

About 40% of us on againstmensrights are men. Happy feminist men who happily discuss men's rights with other feminist men and women. We don't hate the MRM because we don't understand it. We hate it because we do and are horrified that you speak for us. As a man, my issues are much better dealt with by feminists and other progressives than they are by the reationary MRM. That's really it, no? It seems that around these parts men's rights don't come with any responsibilities. The statistics are clear. There is no equivalence in the rates of male violence to those of female violence. None whatsoever. Pointing out that men can stop this disproportionate killing, bashing and raping is called "male shaming" here. How dare I point out the obvious? I must really hate men to dare to criticise us, no?

I'm glad that this sub is more rational than feminist subs where emotion rules the day and people avoid truths that don't make them feel good emotionally. With that in mind I'm sure no one will mind if I point out the fact that men ARE dangerous. Men commit the vast majority of all murders, battery, and rape. By far the most robberies too. And carjacking. Also, most politicians are men. And all but one Comcast board member. Perhaps we can talk about why men kill, batter and rape so much, and wha…

Clearly you've never taken the time to understand what the concept of privilege means. If you had, you would know that yes, Virginia, poor people can have privilege over other poor people. Perhaps an easy example would be my home town where poor blacks and poor whites lived side by side, and yet one group was singled out for particularly bad treatment. I'll leave it to you to guess which group. As to your suggestion that I'm privileged, that's true in many ways. I grew up middle class, the son o…

I can see why you would want to down play the misogyny of a mass killer who bathed in the hate of the manosphere before a killing spree that included an attempt to kill blond sorority girls. I can see how you would want to downplay those connections because they reflect badly on you. Why is it that most domestic terrorists and mass killers in the US are angry white men who feasted on right-wing hate? Could it have to do with an exaggerated sense of entitlement? Dude. The arguments for men's rights are the same as the arguments for white rights. Anti-racism has gone so far now that white people are the ones who need the help. Reactionaries have been saying that since the beginning of both struggles. So forgive me if I'm not susceptible to an argument all leftists have heard misused so many times before. Sleep now. You really need to work on your rhetorical skills if you're going to be an MRA. You can't just string together non-sequiturs. The gay castrating feminarchy is real, my friend, and if you're going to challenge them, you need to be up to snuff with your derailing logic. For example, you alluded to a HuffPo piece about how gay men are subject to random searches by lesbians, but you didn't actually link to it. You countered a point about gay male misogyny with "Boy, you sure hate gay men!" which jus…

An actual gay MRA. Wow! I've heard so much about you. Let's talk about how financial abortion, false rape reporting, and spermjacking affect you personally. Don't you just hate it when you're making out with a guy in the back room of the Powerhouse and some cunt-posessed banshee feels entitled to take up space in your bar? Honestly, I'm surprised to find a brother like you on an MRA sub. Everyone knows gay men can't be misogynist, and never benefit from male privilege. I've been a queer activist…

I'm a wee bit further to the left of New Dealers. Just a bit further left than the Rockefellers, then. I heard they commissioned a Diego Rivera mural. Whatever happened to that? As a fellow anarcho-syndicalist I absolutely agree that feminism is antithetical to maintaining kleptocratic colonial capitalism. If we let those feemales escape patriarchal gender roles, they might join up with darkies and queers to challenge the very foundations of plutocracy. Who's people and lands would we decent, ST…

Says the guy who says sex trafficking does not exist, and when confronted with an FBI article about sex trafficking claims it was about something else. The same guy who complains that feminists have to lie to make their points. Why do you feel you need to lie to make cheap points, David? And why do you do it day after day? What do you get out of it?
/r/MensRights31/05/14 11:47 PM

Reading comprehension seems to be a trouble spot for you. Did you read the FBI article? The first paragraph? The title? The URL? The words "Human Sex Trafficking" can be found in each. Seth MacFarlane is a bigot who's stock-in-trade is parading dumb stereotypes to a lowest-common-denominator audience. Oh, and voice acting, he's really good at that. Circumcision is not an MRA issue. It was feminists who started the anti-circumcision movement. I remember, because I was there in San Francisco in the early '90s. We handed out leaflets on the damage, history and rationalizations of circumcision to a lot of confused and uncomfortable looking passers-by. A male elite is a byproduct of male disposability. I'm struggling to understand you. How is the male elite a byproduct and not the cause of male disposability? And what are we supposed to do then to get rid of war, corporatism, plutocracy, racism and patriarchy?

Both countries have a racist, kleptocratic ruling classes decended from the Spanish that have done their best to exterminate native people and expropriate their land. A man's right to abort is exactly the same as a woman's, it's just that men don't tend to get pregnant so often. No, men shouldn't have 100 days to decide to be a legal deadbeat. The anti-abortion crowd has never fought for access to an array of effective of contraceptives. Those were feminists. But perhaps I should have said that if you don't want to be a parent, use contraception.
/r/MensRights04/05/14 04:57 AM
-8

That wasn't much of a clarification. Both male and female parents can take advantage of safe harbors, adoption, abstinence and birth control, so what's your point? Safe haven laws are a safe place for a parent to leave a child they can not take care of. Neither parent is liable for child support in that case. They're mostly anonymous drop offs. I lived across the street from one.

You're barely trying anymore. It's hard to know how to respond to a set of non-sequiturs. I get it. You have no empathy for the experience of pregnancy. Having a future individual growing inside you before having to decide if you can and should have surgery to kill it, is exactly the same as plopping out a mL of sperm and running off. The fact that physiology imposes some real inequalities makes you feel bad. Fortunately, most people are not so disabled.
/r/MensRights04/05/14 03:47 AM

Well, we agree that everyone gets to use contraception, that's good. It's been a long feminist fight to get this far on that issue. You're welcome. We'd hate for you MRAs to get sperm-jacked, sire offspring, or contract an STD. There's drug resistant Gonorrhea out there now. Still, I'm struggling to find any other sense in your comment. The reason men don't get reproductive rights in the way women do is because they don't have wombs. They have no blood in the game. Carrying a child to term or aborting is a woman's decision because it's her body. A pregnant person may wish to terminate a pregnancy but not be physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially, legally, or logistically able get an abortion. Terminating a pregnancy is a decision fraught with complications at every level. It's not some switch a woman can flip because…

Condoms used correctly result in 2-3 out of a hundred sexually-active womb bearers in a year becoming pregnant. Hardly "all the time". There are other contraceptive options for both men and women that feminists have fought hard for. If you guys wanted to work on expanded access, that would be real men's rights work. But it's so much easier to lay about bashing feminists on Reddit.

That this is a "men's rights" issue at all shows how fundamentally misogynist and idiotic your cult is. Abortion rights are about a person controlling what happens to their body, not their wallet. If you didn't want a kid, you could have worn a condom. It's like a little baggie you put on your dick that keeps your precious seeds in. Next you'll be saying nature is a misanderer for giving women wombs. You might know this lady part by the term "baby oven".

Men send men to war. Men largely control the government and industry. Men are forcing other men into dangerous jobs. Men have a long and well documented history of trying to keep women out of male dominated industry including the military. Feminists tend to fight against that sort of exclusion. You can't blame feminists for things mostly male plutocrats do to poorer men. If you want to help men who are victims of war, suicide, and dangerous jobs, you need to wage class war against the plutocrats…

How many drinks is the going rate for sex these days? How many drinks for anal? It seems to me if buying a drink implies a contract for sex, that we should work out the details before the first drink is bought. Also, isn't possible that people buy other people drinks for all sorts of reasons? I buy attractive guys drinks at my gay bar all the time, and only occasionally am I hitting on them.

Anti-feminists, such as those on this sub, have been around since the beginning, saying at every step of the way that women have come far enough, and that this project needs to stop before it damages men. But no, sorry, you people were wrong then, and you're still unwilling to recognize and understand the dynamics of sexist oppression of either women or men. You're ignoring the gendered nature of threats of sexual violence online. We can quibble over statistics and sample sizes, but there's no escaping the fact that waaaay more men than women get into making rapey threats online or off. Why is that, one might wonder? Could it be that men are socialized to see women as needs-fulfillment-devices rather than fellow humans? Might it have to do with the fact that men have (mostly) ruled the world for a good long while, and don't want their turfs encroach…

Just stop imagining that feminism is a war against men, and realize that all your men's rights issues, like paternity laws, the lack of support for domestic violence against men, and the child support scam are feminist issues, and have been for q…

Socialism is about ordering society for the greatest benefit of the greatest number of people. Fighting sexism and other forms of oppression are crucial socialism, and have been a part of socialist movements to varying degrees since the beginning.

No I've never heard that from a feminist. I don't think that word means what you think it means. Keep your straw men to yourself.

Fighting oppression is an obligation.

Yes they do. Which is why we feminists fight sexist conditioning and rigid gender roles for both boys and girls every fucking day.

Female on male violence is a worthy topic. It's just that MensRights zealots on here are not the best and brightest, they come across as reactionary, contrarian, anti-feminists with incoherent, a-historical positions. If it weren't these dipshits hosting the conversation, I think it would be a worthy one.

I really don't understand this MensRights thing. It strikes me as a bunch of whiners with nothing better to do than be afraid of girls and getting paranoid. I think there are some men's rights issues that are legitimate to discuss. But this crowd of lusers is not capable of representing them.

Seriously? That's your issue? That men are stereotyped as dirty and all that? I don't agree that that is true at all. Pick up any history book. They are mostly stories about men. Men are talked about in every kind of way including dirty, diligent, horny, saintly, valiant, sneaky, unwavering, vengeful, patient, and so on. Perhaps you have a problem with people or yourself thinking you personally are dirty, nasty, unkempt, stupid, perverted, perpetually horny, and embarrassing. Since your first pr…

Right. And should not be. It's pure idiocy to frame feminism as against men's rights. To fight for one's rights, does not imply fighting to take rights away from others. If you're too dense and insecure to realize that, you should be lurking, not posting.

I'm a man. I understand the child support issue because my cousin got sucked up into it. It's evil toward men and wrong. But the rest of this shit just sounds like right wing kiddies spouting off because they can. Sounds like some fragile egos got tired of hearing about sexism and got all contrarian. It's the white power response to the civil rights movement. Stupid, a-historical, and wrong.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
