So your take is that people try to standardize their lifestyles and pull other people in, even though one person’s life style may not be suitable to the other. I agree with you on that point, I don’t think anyone should live like everyone else if it doesn’t suit them, just because they’re told that’s how it’s supposed to be.

That sounds horrible and I definitely understand why you want to avoid that kind of situation. I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’ve also seen and heard of stuff like this, though I haven’t experienced it for myself.

Personally, I’ve seen and heard all the things people have been talking about at a distance but the women who are actually in my life share mutual cooperation with me. I dated a few guys, dated a girl, didn’t go about either of the relationships any differently and by and large found that I had a better team/partnership/whatever with my girlfriend than I had with my boyfriend; he was apathetic and could be kind of cruel sometimes. Many of my female friends likewise have mutually respectful and c…

There are men who hate women, but all I’ve said is that you guys don’t hate women and that’s why I’m interested. I’m not trying to paint men with a broad brush, and I’m not even trying to paint this community with a broad brush – I just came here to understand, that’s all. I also don’t expect anyone to explain themselves, since I’m not in a position to hold people accountable and interacting with this post is completely voluntary. I’d say I’m more indifferent or ambivalent than needy. If you fee…

First, I’d reiterate my post’s edit: I’m not asserting that you hate women, but I can’t deny that feelings toward women (not even necessarily their behaviors) play a role in this community, even if they don’t specifically for you. Second, I think progressive empowerment falls short when it makes destructive behavior acceptable (or even rewards it, which it frequently does), so on that you and I agree.

I’m not doing research, just trying to understand other people. If I were doing research I would want to directly cite my sources, in which case I don’t think I would have used the term “circle jerk” lol Edit: weird spelling stuff

So the bias toward women in family courts is more of a de facto bias, rather than an expressed bias. The favor is circumstantial instead of designed, is that correct?

That’s still pretty vague, but I’ll give it my best shot. I think that there are feminists who are more egalitarian and those who want retribution (the ones that most closely match what I’m pretty sure you’re talking about). The retribution people are a big portion and they tend to speak the loudest, interpreting every little inconvenience in their lives as a result of “male oppression.” I kid you not, I once knew a woman who didn’t fold her own clothes so as not to conform to gender roles she f…

I might, but you’ll have to be more specific about what you mean before I can answer honestly.

I still think you’re confusing my lack of enthusiasm for role play for an actual, real life lack of willpower, but by all means continue to drag my sex life into this. I dislike things that are over the top and/or silly and that’s what that feels like a lot – with both men and women. I’ve said nothing harmful to you, haven’t attacked, mocked, criticized, or condescended, just asked questions. I’m looking to understand, that’s all.
/r/MGTOW04/08/19 07:20 AM

It’s less that I don’t have willpower and more that I feel silly role playing. I’ve occupied a number of leadership roles elsewhere in my life, but I’m quieter when it comes to sex – with men and women alike. I don’t like things that seem over the top because I can’t suspend disbelief well enough to enjoy them. Also, if I’m a switch and my wife is a sub, I wouldn’t say I’m the doormat (that’s her preferred role 😉).

On that, we can definitely agree.

It seems like your viewpoint and others similar to it actually get a lot of attention these days, though. How do you feel the system has been distracted from you, and what do you think would happen were it not so? Also, how have we been exploited? This seems like a convenience at best, unless you’re actively doing something to manipulate people.

I see the first point, but don’t understand the second. If there are people who feel strongly one way, people who feel strongly another way, and people who don’t feel as strongly in either direction, there is always a scale, spectrum, continuum, or what have you. Could you explain how there isn’t a scale? Even in this post I’ve seen a pretty decent variety of opinions and strength of opinion, as well as a wide variety of ways people have talked to me. Surely some very simplistic 1-10 scale exist…

I see where indifference plays into your professional life, but it seems like you’re not so indifferent when it comes to your personal life. When you say co-habitation, does that mean any co-habitation (roommates, adult siblings, etc.) or strictly romantic? And please see my edit to the original post, I wasn’t intending to accuse everyone here of hatred but point out that your ideology isn’t focused on hatred like some others are.

So along the lines of justifying one’s existence, would person A have to justify themselves differently to person B than they do to person C? I could see some interpersonal relationships that would seem to support that – I justify my presence (if not my existence) to my family differently than to my boss. Do you think this applies to all relationships? How do you justify your existence to your friends (that seems like a mean question, wasn’t intended that way, just not a better way to phrase it)…

Sorry, I wasn’t talking about some documented spectrum, I more meant to say “on a scale from 1-10” but with some relevant context. The article is interesting, it makes me think of the Khan Marker (I think that’s what it’s called?) where something like one out of every two hundred people in the world are related to Ghengis Khan. Dude liked his harems.

You say family courts don’t favor women, but the rest of what you’ve said seems to indicate the opposite. Could you clarify your point?

I’m 26. Could you explain the first sentence in a bit more depth? I think I agree with you there, but I want to know more. I haven’t insulted, condescended, patronized, or otherwise attacked you, I’m just trying to have a conversation. I stated in my post that I don’t share your views, so there’s no point in arguing – you and I already know where each other stand. What about that seems dumb?

Ok, I think we definitely got off on the wrong foot here. I wasn’t accusing MGTOW of hating women, I was saying the foundations of your philosophy are interesting precisely because they are not focused on hating women but empowering men (please correct me if I’m wrong). Not catering to women’s feelings does not bother me. I typically take a more egalitarian position, so I’m generally opposed to society favoring one group over another. This also applies to thinking one group must be treated inher…

Ok, I’m still a bit lost. You’re exploiting your independence? Or you’re exploiting something else and using less intelligent people to gain independence?

I think that when someone’s focus moves away from seeking their own peace, happiness, or whatever, and moves toward their negative feelings about something else, it gives way to hating that something. For example, if I had a friend who treated me badly and I cut them out to focus on myself, that would be calling out bad behavior (the reasons for cutting them out). If I stayed in contact and made my social time with others about discussing and analyzing the behavior, that leads to hate – I am no …

Those loopholes seem a lot like independence. Are you saying you’re not looking for independence, or just looking for something more specific?

I definitely see where you’re coming from, I believe family court does heavily favor mothers unless there’s an overwhelming reason not to. You sound as though you speak from experience – have you had to deal with family court matters personally or known someone who did and had a bad experience?

No, I understand perfectly well, but 1. That’s literally not at all the point the picture makes; the picture is just reacting to a claim that masculinity is inherently toxic and doesn’t address any part of what toxic masculinity actually is, means, or does. the problem is that people here have pretty blatantly interpreted the meaning to be all-inclusive of masculinity in general. As an actual cultural/social concept, what I stated above is what it means: masculinity that is toxic, not inherent t…

Toxic masculinity, as I have always understood it, is specifically masculinity that is toxic (which is to say, it is not an indictment of all masculinity). For example, I can say rotten meat and not mean that meat is inherently rotten, but refer to a specific sample. Toxic masculinity is the “men don’t _____” bs that tells us we can’t show emotion or care about things, as well as condemns us for any degree of femininity. Want to see toxic masculinity? I’m sure half of us here were tormented by i…

The person who made this is confusing toxic masculinity with gender ratios. Toxic masculinity is the expectation of males to act masculinely and the passive or active punishments for not meeting such expectations. This is perpetuated by men and women alike and has a lot less to do with how many men or women are around than this person thinks. It’s the stigma of being open and vulnerable, bullying in response to interests not typically seen as masculine (e.g. dance, art, or design), and the idoli…

Why should the kid’s self worth be dependent on his ability to tell his sister what to do, though? Surely there are outlets in which he can build self worth without needing to tell someone else what to do. I, for one, fucking hate back-seat gamers. I don’t care if I’m doing it wrong or messing up, just let me play the fucking game without making me feel like my learning curve is inconveniencing you. It comes from a place of wanting to help, yeah, but it also reduces the player’s opportunities to…

I apologize, I didn’t realize I linked to the Victoria-specific site. I’m sure you can find your way to broader statistics with some basic searching. And no, the statistics I cited pretty clearly demonstrated that, with exception for children 0-9 and people 55+ (that last group being the smallest portion of reported crimes over all between men and women), women in every other age category are either roughly equal to or more likely to be victims of violent crime. If you’re having difficulty inter…

Ok so first, I already posted a link to the numbers on crime statistics for Australia, so why don’t you read the conversation attached to the comment before jumping on the original comment for something that’s asked and answered at this point. Second, you can find the data for parking garage crime and solution effectiveness on Australia’s DOJR website: http://www.justice.vic.gov.au Third, this has also been a thing in Germany, China, Indonesia, and South Korea since like the 90’s, all to varying…

First, how can you justify saying we shouldn’t base things on gender when you just cited stats that indicate a difference in crime rate based on gender? Are you proposing that we tighten all screws with the same screwdriver? Or maybe screws and nails should both be treated equally - with a hammer. Second, as I stated in another comment, these are general stats for Australia, and Perth itself (or even public spaces within Perth) is likely to have narrower models, and it’s probably those numbers t…

Except this isn’t an infringement of rights - men can still park there, they’re literally just asking people to reserve the spot for women because of the problems cited above. This isn’t a case of “we think women should be given special treatment,” this is a case of “there’s a pattern of crime, how can we prevent it,” which, for the third time now, is shown to be working. If you want to think of this in terms of individuals, here you go: fewer individuals have been victims of violent crime in th…

Here’s a cool site for you to check out, it has interesting data and very useful filtering tools for researching public ally available crime statistics. It’s a much better source of information than Reddit. http://www.crimestats.aic.gov.au/facts_figures/1_victims/A4/

You’d be correct on that first point if you’re talking about elementary kids or senior citizens, but women ages 10 - 44 (a significantly larger active demographic spread) are decisively more likely to be the victim of a violent crime in Australia. As for the trial, you seem to have skimmed over the part where the trial is actually seeing crime numbers in the area drop. Seems like if what you’ve said was accurate, there should be no change in statistics. Sure there are plenty of reasons crime mig…

So a few things. First, this is done to prevent the long walks in the desolate parking lot at night, a situation which statistically is more dangerous for women. Second, a representative of the city in charge of the plan has outright said that men won’t be fined for parking in the spaces. Third, it’s only a trial right now, which has seen decent numbers as far as reducing reported assaults in the area.
