If you’re going to have a “friend with benefits” but treat them like something you use to masturbate, then you’re not really their “friend”, are you? Setting realistic expectations is important but I bet you’ll have more success with women if you treat them like a fucking person instead of a self-lubricating fleshlight that has the added inconvenience of being able to speak.

You’re right! I don’t know what I want, nor do I know anything else really, so I’ll just stop talking and get some therapy. THAT is what you should say on your next approach; forget the phone tapping nonsense! Good luck buddy!

Seeing as I’m a woman, I’ll take the time to clear this up for you: don’t. I’d be really put off that someone felt the need to come interject and tell me when it is/isn’t appropriate to be on my phone. Also, why would anyone give a fuck about how a stranger is spending their time? Why is being on their phone a reason to tease someone anyway; because it’s taking away attention you wish they were giving you? Idk dude. Just don’t. Or do, and get told to mind your own business. Whatever

Why would a girl like this?

Girl here.... most of these would make me feel like I was on a date with a creep, and I would try to get the heck out of there. Overtly asking about someone’s sexual fantasies without solicitation is weird guys. Sexual tension is conveyed HEAVILY through nonverbal communication. Making sex jokes and innuendo can be cutesy if done well but they usually aren’t. If she’s attracted to you, it’s likely the sexual tension is already there...

"Teach men not to rape" is not implying that all men are predisposed to be a ticking rape-bomb just because they're men. It's a rebuttal to victim blaming, which is a real problem- that something a woman says/doesn't say/does/doesn't do is the reason she was raped. It's not implying that all men are rapists, it's saying that rapists need to be held accountable for raping. We need to expect rapists not to rape, not teach women how not to get raped.

Eh. I can get on board to an extent- female here. If I ask his age, and he gives me a "What would you guess?" type of response, he gets one guess. I'm going to get annoyed with colder/warmer bullshit beyond one guess. If I guess young, you get to act flattered, "Only 25!? Wow, thanks, actually I'm _". And if I guess old you can jokingly give me a hard time, "Man, that old!? I'm actually _". In either scenario, just tell me how old you are and move on with the damn conversation.

I think it's just a habit you'll have to break like you would any other habit. Becoming more conscious of it is a good first step! Next time this situation happens in real life try to hold your gaze for a brief bit longer. Work your way up to a smile/nod. I kick myself for this too sometimes.

That sounds perfect. I've just got to manage to get to date 3 :) I'll report back with progress!

Do you have any specific suggestions? Dinner, a drink just he and I...?

I don't know how I'd possibly bring it up without it sounding like a "what are we??" conversation. Cringe.

it is a bit out of my comfort zone and it's kind of tricky for me to navigate.... thanks for the insight! I'll give it a go :)

Haha! I asked myself that exact question- does he kiss all his friends? I am interested! He's really funny, he has his life (mostly) together, he's so good-looking (what initially made me attracted to him) but looks aren't everything of course. After the other night, he said something like "I had fun! We should go out again sometime!" i agreed, said I had a great time too. Then he just said "so what are you up to?" No initiative to set a date, make plans, suggest dinner.... I've never been in a …

The reason he and his last girlfriend broke up had something to do with her being overly dramatic about her emotions within their relationship to her friends. I think- we had been drinking when we discussed it.

Haha, I'm female! I'll do my best though ;)

Exactly! I did already do it. Poor impulse control. Conversation has been innocent and mostly meaningless banter. I feel as though I'm interviewing him just to maintain conversation sometimes; other times I just don't make effort because he seems disinterested. If he were, he'd stop initiating conversation, no? I can't help but feel as though I made it weird. If he knew what lengths I had to go to in order to find him (what sort of Apple employee has zero internet presence?) I don't really think…

I was hoping gender would be a non-factor, hence the deliberate ambiguity. I'm female. :)

As long as you have good hygiene, I don't think any girl will mind. If they do, they're not the girl you want.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
