The same at my university. There are free classes offered exclusively to women. I'm taking an all-genders self defense class this fall that is setting me back $250 (which I am really fortunate to be able to afford). I really feel for all the men who have to choose between this month's rent and learning how to defend themselves from violence.

Ah, my whoops was actually in response to those who made the Facebook event and the plans to crash the event, as they did so on the mistaken premise that Men's Rights Edmonton was hosting. I didn't mean to come across as "whoopsing" you. And more to the point, they did make those plans, as you say. That is still important, despite them getting the wrong orgazination.

None of the reasons themselves are trash, as those are reasons that men cheat. However, women also cheat for those reasons. You could just as easily write a piece titled "Why Women Cheat," or "Why Black People Cheat," with those reasons. It's the piece itself that's trash, in painting cheating as an inherently male behavior when it is an inherently human one (as has been mentioned, we did not evolve monogamously).

I couldn't agree more. I find that lots of taboo things regarding sexuality (pornography, sex work, BDSM, etc.) are looked down upon because of a refusal to acknowledge that women are sexual creatures just as much as men are, and can enjoy and benefit from their sexuality without it being belittling and degrading. I think a little less sex-negativity could go a long way towards equal ground for men and women.

It would be good to mention along with women getting 58% of degrees, there are tons of women-only college scholarships and very few if any (I certainly know of none) exclusively for men.

Number ten actually perpetuates a really damaging ideal. Growing up I struggled with terrible body image issues and eating problems. It was incredibly difficult for me to seek help because, according to everything I saw around me, feeling like that was for girls, not boys. Who knows how many boys don't seek help because they think that their gender makes feeling like that unacceptable.

I think it's really cool to see that discussion in the greater (more subscribed to) Reddit community. Unfair though it may be, I think the average Redditor takes most content in /r/mensrights with a grain of salt. Even if it is coming from the same people, having that conversation in a fairly neutral sub seems like a great vehicle for raising at least a modicum of awareness.

I totally agree. I'm of Jewish and Polish descent and my best friend is German (like born, raised, and grew up in Germany, not German just by ancestry). Does he owe me something? Should I be entitled to privileges kept from him?
