Count me in. Saying goodbye to: Nicotine Porn Dessert/Candy/Chocolate/Sugary Foods Saying hello to: Minimum 20min/day on processing my closet full of old papers. (throw it, file it, or act on it for each) Logging in the nonothingnovember subreddit. I'll also be printing out a November calendar and tracking via the 'Don't Break the Chain' Seinfeld method. I suggest you give it a try, it's hugely helpful. Best of luck to you all.

Women sense my power, and they seek the life essence...

Seriously? "Do RP with me"? Go away. This isn't for you.

The version of this I like is "don't say anything that doesn't improve on silence".

Signal-to-noise. Isn't your time valuable?

Through my own marital experience, SSRI's can have a profound effect on female libido (they are notorious for this, btw). Do your research, and be aware of the potential tradeoffs. If she does decide to go down the medication route, encourage her to talk to her physician about sexual side effects. I believe bupropion (Wellbutrin) is often recommended alone or in combination to counteract libido loss. Good luck!

Ummm, okay. You certainly put the 'b' in subtle. Perhaps next week you can try it with floss? Anyway, glad you got to finish your FR before she dragged you off to the bedroom. We're all the wiser for it.

The piece you're missing is the context. The crowd had been aggressively heckling every comedian prior to Bill that evening. No way for him to succeed with a regular set. His intent walking on stage was to make sure they didn't get to enjoy "winning" against him, and to extract a bit of revenge for their abuse of his colleagues. Huge display of balls.

You mentioned anxiety and panic attacks. Is she on SSRI's for that (Zoloft, LexaPro, etc)? Those are notorious libido-killers.

This is one part of why swallowing the pill can be difficult and painful. I wouldn't call it cynicism at all. When you choose to fight reality, reality wins every time. Expecting a woman to be emotionally supportive of you is a recipe for a 'broken relationship'. She might be able to on rare occasion with extenuating circumstances, but if you depend on that regularly, she will find someone else or stonewall you. If you are unable to remain stoic (as we all are from time to time), this is where y…

Well, 60% is closer to a smidgen below 2/3, so it is a substantial difference. Put another way, the 60% population is 1.5X larger than the 40% group. I get what you're saying, but numbers can be slippery at times. I think the self-selection of the group is the bigger issue, though.

They do mind-- the jokes are a way of asking you to respect their time while keeping the tone friendly. If it's a group meet with an approximate time, no big deal, but otherwise keep your commitments. It sets a behavioral expectation for others.

I don't want to fall into the 'no true red-piller' fallacy, but many of the angry and douchey posts come from those who haven't bothered to internalize the sidebar material. There you willi find much of the higher order reasoning ability you speak of. To my mind, TRP is more about change from within than about posing as an alpha, which seems more like a description of seddit. Different approach here.

Confirmed, and thanks for the insight. I've put a lot of thought in on that, and am focusing on recovering my frame first. If that doesn't get a positive response, then the backup plan becomes an option. Honestly, the missteps have been mine, so she has sunken costs as well.

Thanks for the writeup. I know this sub is pretty sparse right now, but the effort is appreciated. Nice shot, man!

Complete agreement here. I'm in a 20+ year LTR in which I gave up the captain's chair long ago. Her thirst for my leadership is obvious, but while I'm working TRP to regain it, the subtlety and frequency of fitness testing is unbelievable. It's far better to never lose trust and respect. I think the 'drunk Captain' metaphor from the recovery strategy thread a couple weeks ago sums up these type of situations perfectly.

I also can't agree with this list, 'alpha' is more nuanced than that. I find inspiration in movies illustrating leadership and/or independence. Master and Commander, Rob Roy, Jeremiah Johnson, Cool Hand Luke -- these seem a bit more 'authentic'. More from a maleness than sexual success standpoint. I'd add Blue Valentine as a cautionary tale of the consequences of losing frame.

Have fun spending the rest of your relationship mate-guarding. The error here is viewing this particular guy as the threat, when he's really done nothing wrong. Aggression towards him smacks of insecurity. The true issue is her disrespect of the LTR. He unsuccessfully tried to pull her off the guy, and she later slapped him for interrupting her fun. You couldn't ask for a clearer signal that she's done. Hard next would be my choice.

Tell me, have you read the sidebar material? Having been here for many months (different username), I haven't posted a new thread yet because I want to make a significant contribution when I do drop it. Your post smacks of hubris and a lack of understanding of TRP underpinnings. Learn, then teach if you can. This sub is not about feminism or men's rights.

"Heads up" is my go-to for this. Neutral, and encourages situational awareness. You can vary your tone from amused to assertive to fit the context.

If instigated by the woman it's known as "Let's you and him fight", which can be a sexual strategy or a pure power play. Guess who wins in this scenario?

You miss my point. It's not that the supporting data may or may not exist, it's that this "retired psychologist who ran a successful private practice" makes an astounding number of assertions without informing the reader in any way how he arrived at them. For instance: Thus, we reach an even more dramatic conclusion: That for college educated women who marry after the age of 25 and have established an independent source of income, the divorce rate is only 20 percent! As a reader of this article,…
