Exactly. People who are immature and needy like OP describes won't be comfortable if they aren't the center of attention all the time. By prioritizing other interests, OP will push away the kind of people who are needy and self-centered, but will relate well with mature, confident people who also have their own interests. This isn't saying OP should be a shut-in, just that if you spend all your time with someone because of the novelty of the relationship, you won't be able to tell if they are co…

Good point. This video is basically a primer on what's currently in style (straight cut jeans with the cuffs rolled, suit with narrow lapels, skinny ties, argyle socks, v-neck tees, etc.) Five years ago, most of those would have looked ridiculous, but that's just because overall styles were different then. And I hope to god you're right about chubbies, my legs are way too long and skinny to pull that shit off.

If you volunteer in your spare time, you can do something related to answering phones, doing reception or calling for donations. Dealing with people who are frustrated or talking people into donating is a great way to improve your people skills, and gives you a better appreciation for normal, casual conversation.

Beautiful. This really eases the sting of knowing that Penthouse Letters: Douchebag Edition is still on the front page of this subreddit.

Actually, with BME as popular as it's been the past few years, I've seen this change pretty quickly.

Well, if he's really smiling 95% of the time, it could make it seem like that's just his resting expression and it could make it hard for people who don't know him to tell when he's actually pleased or amused. Ion't avoid smiling, but don't just do it all the time because you're not sure what else to do with your face.

It's simple: lie to make yourself appear more interesting! "Hey, what are you reading?" "Oh, it's a book about the Texas Revolution." "That's awesome! I fought in the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836!" "Hey, who's that on your t-shirt?" "Oh, Che Guevara" "Haha, awesome! I actually am Che Guevara! I faked my own death in Bolivia in 1967 and assumed a whole new identity! It's just a pity I had to cut off my fucking hands."

Really? I shake the hand of virtually everyone I meet, unless their hands are full or they're on the other side of a fence or something. Is that weird? I feel like it's the opposite of weird.

I know what you mean, but there's always a chance she thinks she's had a few too many and doesn't want to get sloppy drunk but is still into you. If she's a little shy she might not make this clear.

You do sort of have to if you've already declared you will, which is one reason why I prefer 'let's grab a drink'.

See, some dudes are comfortable crossing their legs like that. Some dudes aren't. Obama does it all the time, so I would imagine it's comfortable for him. It can certainly be pulled off, and he does so most of the time. In this instance it may be the stress of the occasion that makes it look a bit more awkward, but it certainly appears more alpha than Putin's shocked expression and wrist-clutch.

This is the problem with analyzing a single photo of two world leaders: There are so many photos of each of them that it's easy to cherry-pick a photo where one looks more dominant. Here's a photo from the same day where Putin looks awkward and uptight. Profound geopolitical conclusions drawn from a single photo have a slim chance of being accurate.

I took a job this summer that involved talking to people on the phone who were often irate, desperate, or confused. Here are some things I picked up through trial and error. Due to the nature of telephone conversations, these are verbal techniques; if anyone has similar tips for body language, I'd be very interested to read them. Match another person's vocal intensity, then "steer" them toward a relaxed, even tone. Example: A man calls, very upset, with a story or comments that he wants heard. I…

I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine…

I'm always a little confused by the advice to 'assume attraction,' and I think you've got it right with 'assume interest'. It's wishful thinking to assume everyone is attracted to you, but it could very well be productive, both in pickup and in the rest of life, to assume that everyone is interested in meeting you.

Agree immediately and put the spotlight on her: "I'm up for it. You want to give it a try?" Unless she's really shy, she'll play along; now you have a perfect segue into the '5-minute-girlfriend' game Seddit seems to love.

I think more than that, it's kind of a general warning against letting yourself stagnate anywhere, even if you are engaging with the real world. I'm generally skeptical of claims that media use has a direct effect on behavior, but I think the themes of instant gratification and a direct link between input and reward common in digital-era culture can be damaging to social development. The common seddit advice to be outcome-independent comes to mind.

Beyond the misogyny, paranoid fantasy, and irresponsible health advice in this post, I think it shoots itself in the foot in one big way: the illusion of external control. A sweeping statement, "If you do x, y, and z, she'll suck your dick" can have no hope of being accurate. Now, maybe the false sense of confidence that comes from this idea can be a boost, but not as much as a permanent, self-focused sense of confidence will. On the other hand, if you strike out, and you believe all you had to …

Maybe it's a generational thing, but banging in a movie theater seems like a cliche thing 40-year-olds might do to spice up their marriage, even if you are into that sort of thing. Besides, movie theaters, even the nice ones, are pretty scuzzy. The idea of gettin' it on in a seat that some unwashed guy was sweating in, shoveling red vines into his mouth an hour and a half ago kinda wilts my wood.

Psycho is a great one. Not super gory, but unnerving and twisted. edit: also Night of the Living Dead. Maybe I'm just into old campy horror, but it's not like you need to terrify her. If she likes you, she'll jump in your lap anyway given half an excuse.

Oh hey, it's OP. I was joking around. But, in all seriousness, I have read that an upward-tilted head is seen as more masculine. This got me making faces in the mirror and thinking about what I tend to do automatically. I realized that I tend to furrow my brow when nodding or verbally indicating understanding, and if I keep my brow slightly furrowed a little longer, I appear more attentive or interested, maybe because raising my eyebrows widens my eyes a little. But tilting my head down feels un…

Obviously, if telling a joke makes you feel anxious or physically uncomfortable, you're overthinking it. But there are plenty of reasons to decide against a specific opener; it may just not be your style. There's no one right way to start a conversation.
/r/seduction08/04/13 01:24 AM

Sure, but if you feel really uncomfortable saying that your friend is hung like a horse, it won't be well-received. You can come off as an interesting person without saying things that you don't feel natural saying.
/r/seduction07/04/13 10:33 PM

That's kind of the point of being outcome-independent, though. If you don't feel comfortable saying outrageous things as an opener, then don't say them. OP's trying to come off as ballsy and unrestrained, but that obviously doesn't work on 100% of women.

Pretty sure it was this one. The post was fairly popular, so I might get downvoted to shit for saying that, but the FR in question was so incompatible with my own goals in learning pick-up that it made me think twice about learning it from this community.
