Can you highlight the tropes and “fairytale nonsense”? I also mention guilt trips and character attacks hurled at me. I feel like I’ve shrunk in this relationship in a number of ways and have repeatedly rejected my own instincts in the name of “work”. I know relationships take work. It was work just to get married. Is it work forever in perpetuity? Is some semblance of natural flow and alignment really a far fetched idea?

If you’re willing, care to share any details on why it should be “illegal” when young kids are involved? It seems to me that in some regards younger ages are “better” for divorce if there’s 50% custody since the kids will still have regular time with each parent and also will have normalized the arrangement earlier in life.

Thanks for this reply. I hear you on the "honeymoon phase" of marriages, though I don't even know if that existed for us. We got married 1.5 years after I nearly ended the engagement, and we jumped right into trying to have kids.
