"‘In some schemes, a husband cannot inherit the wife’s pension but a wife will inherit that of her deceased husband." Not really, no.. There's kind of an option for joint annuities but it carries risk depending on who dies first, though in my case that mightn't be so bad. I work in IT and she works for local social care. It's a large wage gap, but not driven by gender.
