It's really funny to watch their brains and pussies fight. She knows, rationally speaking, that she should be grateful for this guy who loves and supports her. But her lady parts keep telling her "any kids you have with this guy will be so wimpy they'll be eaten by bears. Panda bears." I disagree, there's no fighting here. At no point did she give a shit about what he really did, this was just a stunt for attention and telling everyone how important something is that she believes in.

Colleges are getting extreme heat recently for stuff like this. The program most likely doesn't want to risk it at all since the girlfriend could just be lying to get him back on the team. There's also most likely have been real rapes that have occurred that will quickly become unburied if anyone looks into this at all.
