Which further emphasizes the fact that it's not solely a male issue....?

I believe that it is ignorant to say that men have no hold on government.

Oi, I should have anticipated this question. Look at it this way, okay. Just as there are double standards that men must face, there stands the same for women. Sexual discrimination, numbers of partners.. etc. There is an ideal "purity" that people seek in women. Women fight against male dominated industries to ensure their place. Personal matters of women are so much more often considered.

genital mutilation is not discrimination, it is a sick religious based tradition that happens to fall on men (though my SO is having his foreskin cut, so there is the example of choice). In Subsaharan Africa, girls have their genitals mutilated, is that discrimination? No, it is a sick practice. Discrimination is the idea that men cannot be raped, or be homemakers, or that women can't run a company, or work construction. See the difference?

Oi, this again! The debate is not about who is MORE discriminated against. I can promise you that if you spent the day as a woman, you would see that we are indeed confronted with discrimination. That is not to say that it negates discrimination against men, yet to affirm that this is a debate about equality, and mindset. Not a contest about who has it worse.

See, you're failing to acknowledge the other side of the problem. Women are discriminated against, too. I understand the idea of genital mutilation and its effects, yet, that has NOTHING to do with feminism's fight against the MRM...

Yeah, as sad as it is... most people will write off entire populations due to isolated incidents. I believe everyone is guilty of doing it to a certain extent, yet it takes the realization that it is happening to bring you back down to earth. Yet, some (perhaps most) do not have the self realization that it is happening.

Oi, there is too much victim pleading here. I can't argue with you. You believe what you believe and I will believe what I believe.

"getting anywhere" in this sense means that most people think that men fighting for rights are anti-woman. that's what it looks like when you know nothing about it. That being said, feminists are heavily hated amongst women, but because of the fact that at some points, and even currently, women face more evident, and more "loud" disadvantages. That is not to say that there is less discrimination faced by men, but it is definitely more deep-rooted and subtle. Feminism is no longer feminism. Femin…

No, no. I don't agree. Men are subjected to a status quo, that when broken, inevitably causes a stir. It goes all the way down to parental rights, scapegoats for supposed rape and what they can and cannot do.

That's the thing. I really have little patience for people that go after me because of what's in my pants. But at the end of the day, they're the ones that make gender inequality what it is, and they have to live knowing that they're hindering their own cause. And thank you! I try. I'm not super socially proactive. I have my morals, and beliefs, stemming from my own experiences. But men are men just as women are women. But at the end of the day, we are all people.

Perhaps you have it right, to a certain extent, but saying that I am lacking perspective is incorrect. As far as I see it, the movement isn't getting anywhere because... how to put it, it goes alongside the idea of "reverse racism"... no one could possibly be oppressing the whites, because it was the whites that oppressed the blacks for so long. When looked at objectively, one has nothing to do with the other. What is going on in feminism has little to do with what y'all are fighting for here. Y…

and you don't think that feminists are hated too? i can't stand them. there is nothing gained from telling yourself that no one is listening to you.

Oh, I completely agree. Look at it this way, women, just as men, have a presumed social status, that creates waves when challenged. Which is why men couldn't possibly be raped by a woman. Ridiculous as it may be, that's the reason. I know that due to my gender, I have been advantaged, as well as disadvantaged.

No, no. I am talking about the relative definition of minority. Be it what you believe, but men have a superior stance in society, which in part is linked to the discrimination against them.

It was a long time ago, and I was helped by a friend before it became anything grave. But I appreciate it, thank you, very much.

The thing is, is yes, due to past social oppression, women have been given a social disadvantage. That being said, that is no excuse to abuse that fact. And, it's not about "complaining" it's about talking about supposed "social injustice". Look at Trayvon Martin, for example, it became an issue of race, rather than what it actually was. That's what I am talking about. More relevant, the Duke Lacrosse case. They were persecuted, because.. why would a woman lie about rape.

No I fully get that. I am by no means affirming the men that have resentment against women because they turned down their sexual advances.. it was geared towards those who can see that the issues surrounding gender can be boiled down to whether you're a good human being or not.

I try. I have been a victim of sexual assault, but have enough of a brain to know that it was a shitty person, as opposed to blaming it on his gender.

We live in a day and age where we've given a voice to minorities, racial, gender... etc. And due to past oppression that still remains true, and even current "oppression", any action deeming a social minority incorrect is seen as racist/sexist or ignorant.

I'm late on this, but hey! The idea that a woman has to have not only the emotional weight of a pregnancy, as well as the medical weight is the key factor here, imo. If a woman is to end a pregnancy, there is a compulsory "what if I had kept it... etc" regardless of ability to care for a child. Where as a man can go about his life never knowing that he has a child at all. I believe that this is the root of the abortion debate. It is much easier for a man to leave with no ties at all then a woman…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
