I'm agnostic yet I am pro-religion, because I would rather people worship God than the state. The Vatican is not going to cage me if I don't tithe them or obey their arbitrary moral edicts. A local church knows the actual needs of the community as opposed to politicians and bureaucrats who only know how to buy votes with other people's money. It could be something as simple as testing positive for marijuana (or even alcohol depending on the terms). False Accusations of Child Molestation I pretty much agree but then again I don't know all the details and it is not my life on the line. What I will add is although the terms of the plea might not seem too bad considering, it leaves a lot of room for him going back to jail/prison for a long time. The probationary system is set up in a way where it is designed for people to fail. The prison-industrial complex thrives on this revolving door. He/she is the one who is in trenches and knows the details of the case and the particulars of the court. And if it is only 10k that means he could get out tomorrow for as little as 1K, assuming you bring in a bail bondsman. They charge 10% and put up the rest, and if he doesn't show up to court they track him down with a bounty hunter. Surely you can come up with 1k; if you have good credit you could even just apply for some credit cards and do cash advances. I don't even think it is legal to spend over 12 months in "jail" (as opposed to prison). He does have a public defender, correct? How often does he meet with him or her? He must have made at least 3 or 4 appearances in court by now. What has the public defender been doing? Not that I would trust a public defender to do anything worthwhile. The fact that he maybe looking at close to life in prison is a put off for me. I would risk him being registered and seeing him when I wanted other than having to see him in prison . False Accusations of Child Molestation Bench trial just means the judge makes the guilty/not guilty determination as opposed to a jury. Judges usually have a better understanding of due process. That said it is always a gamble. Of course defendants have gotten off on this kind of case before. It doesn't matter that it is in Alabama. Not sure why he has been in jail so long without his day in court. He should have had a right to a speedy trial under the fifth amendment. If the legal system had any sense of fairness to it, these schools would be sued into oblivion and the "administrators" fired. This isn't cheating on a test.
