The actual meaning originally was to say that you had freedom of speech FROM THE GOVERNMENT and only the government. That’s why their can’t be hate speech laws in the US like they have tried in other places. The government can’t punish you for what you say, only what you do. You can only influence it every couple years and depending on where you live it may not even matter then, If you live in California you know it’s going blue. Also regardless of your views you have to listen to people you don’t agree with.
