To quote romulusnr 16 is the age of consent in Australia but most states have additional laws against situations involving position-of-authority with people under 18. https://aifs.gov.au/cfca/publications/age-consent-laws Although the legal age of consent throughout Australia is either 16 or 17 years of age, legislation in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory makes it an offence for a person in a supervisory role to sexually engage with a perso…

No seriously. You actually think women are worth less in the workplace than men?

See, on no 1 you're talking about places of leisure vs places of employment, they're not comparable. Apples and Oranges. There will always be what ifs like in number 2. It's impossible to address them all With number 3, I've found the kind of people who you'd want to associate with will know their limits, if they're the kind of person someone sensible would want to be sleeping with they're not going to go off the charts and get blind drunk on half price drinks. And again, drunk or very drunk, th…

It's a cultural relic. If people don't like it, then why bother going after girls who expect a drink? It's culture in some bars that that's how it works. If people don't like it, there are other bars out there, and other girls who are more than happy to buy drinks for guys... Maybe our culture is slightly different in Australia, but I've found this to be the case Didn't know this is how it works. Generally if I go out with mates on ladies' night here, we just let the women of the group go and bu…

Any of the people hating on my previous comment care to actually share why they're downvoting me instead of just mindlessly downvoting opinions differing from their own?

Jesus guys. To all the downvoters, do you wanna explain your position? I have no idea what your problem is, and all the comments on this article are just bitter haters. You guys can be as bad as 2Xs with your downvote squadding...

I don't understand the problem... If you're a guy out looking to pick up a girl, her drinks will cost you half what they normally would that night. If you're a guy not on the prowl, go to a different bar, or just live with paying the same old price you would any other night. It's not like drinks get any more expensive for men on ladies night. Just go with a female friend and have her buy you drinks if it irks you that much

AMERICAN beer commercials. I saw quite a few shockers when I was on the US last. In Australia on the other hand, we tend to have a lot of hilarious beer ads, and sexist shit like this generally gets whipped off the air (See: Cougar Bourbon Ads)

How is it a disadvantage though? Your drinks don't suddenly go UP in price on ladies night do they?

I don't quite understand the complaint here... If you're single and going to a bar on ladies night, there's likely to be a higher number of women than a normal night, and buying them drinks is cheaper, and if you have a female partner then drinks are cheaper for you and your partner on that night... the only people ladies night doesn't advantage are gay couples...
