1	There’s called pulling a gun is already a natural deterrent. Normally people stop doing whatever they were doing when you pull out a gun. Haven't you ever heard anyone say "don't point your gun at anything you don't intend to destroy"? Same thing applies here - don't pull a gun to scare someone, because you'll likely make it worse if you don't have any intent on using the gun.
