You’re not the only one who had a tough time leaving. The best thing you can do is leave and get a temporary custody order in place. I used to think I’d die without being able to see my kids everyday. But now I cherish the time I get to have with them one on one. It’s a lot more special and not interrupted by their mother. I use the rest of my time to work on myself. And just know this…all the threats are empty ones. You won’t just get placed in cuffs because of accusations. You won’t have your …

Doesn’t matter if you haven’t signed anything yet my man. I accepted a settlement at mediation that I immediately regretted, but it didn’t matter. Work the process and don’t rush it to get it over with. Know in your head what you’re willing and able to accept and stay firm. Hold onto that until trial if you have to. She will budge or she will get a rude awakening at trial. My ex backed out of a deal she agreed to twice and the judge didn’t have one thing to say about it. Keep tabs on your lawyer…

You should be setting the boundaries with your ex wife. That’s great you have a good relationship but picking her and the kids up because she doesn’t have a car is a husband duty, not a dad duty. She’s a parent too, and an adult, so she should be able to handle herself. Is she getting a car? If she can’t manage on her own maybe you should take the kids full time until she has a car? Women aren’t going to want to date a guy who is still doing husband duties for his ex wife.

I had a similar experience with 0 progress in two years. She and her lawyer made countless motions over those two years, going to court and just racking up attorney fees. Even after court ordered mediation, a settlement conference that lasted all day, she still wasn’t satisfied that she was being offered enough. Even telling her that money that could be hers or be used on the kids is now being handed to lawyers, didn’t make a difference. It wasn’t until we did depositions and she looked like a f…

Find a way to retain a lawyer. Borrow from family or friends if you have to. While divorce is pending you can file for a temporary custody order. These days courts see what’s best for kids is both parents being present. In the meantime, find hobbies for yourself that make you happy. Do things that maybe you used to love but haven’t done in a while. Or try learning something new. It helped me a lot to keep from sitting around repeating bad thoughts in my head over and over again. Writing your tho…

I’m in the same exact boat as you. I lawyered up immediately, before she had a chance to. I’d advise and a lawyer would advise not to leave your home. I did only because the fighting got so bad and so much worse. Unfortunately I’m still struggling to get her to understand that she needs to buy me out if she wants to keep the house. She can’t afford it. I’m on a temporary order to pay her monthly to help pay the mortgage until the divorce is settled. It actually benefited me because it didn’t inc…
