3	I'm back in school to be a nurse, and was confronted by this shit today If anything the discrimination is getting worse as time goes by. 2	Last time I checked, this expression is used to explain that boys often scrap and fight with each other as kids do, not to suggest that people would even try to use this 'argument' to rationalize rape. Here in Australia there have been courts that have decided that muslims didn't understand the culture and therefore got lighter sentences for rape. 8	Why are men expected to make spaces for women in industry (especially film and tv)? Why can't successful women create their own spaces? I work in a woman centered job and believe me, no-one wants to make space for me as a male. Popular belief is that it is not a job for a male and become very resentful when I do the job as good as, if not better, than the women. 2	Apparently "equality and diversity" means hiring more women - in healthcare which is an already female dominated field I believe that I am in the most sexist job ever. I am a male midwife. The senior staff question whether they should hire me. My peers question my ability to do the job. Most of the women I have cared for over the last 20+ years have been totally positive in their feedback. A career of over 20 years should show that I am a good practitioner.
