62	My gynecologist told me the REAL reason she shortens IUD strings- it's because men try to remove IUDs with out their partner's consent. This blows my mind because I went into my gynos office three different times to try to get my IUD removed, each time me screaming in pain because she was using a metal clamp, her fingers, and a spool of what looked (and felt) like steel wool, to try to find the strings. Eventually I had to have it surgically removed. Im so so so glad you had such a somewhat comfortable experience with this removal.
