Please recieve the mental image of that meme of two very brawny armed individuals clasping hands. In a more just world, corporations that know their products can be misused should have some personal stake in protecting the consumer who trusts the service to have basic standards of conduct for its users, especially when the stated end goal is in-person interaction. That is not where we are now but I think broad awareness is a key part of getting there. I think it is reasonable and forward thinkin…

One might argue that society is the male analogy, but that is ultimately a different conversation and imo, not worth having. We literally agree the Tea app will not provide longterm benefit and may even actively harm, please stop acting like I feel otherwise. You cannot highlight the failure of women using this app to observe consent for the sake of personal safety and then rugsweep the lack of consent that fomented it. They are related and dependent on one another. Shut down the app- there will…

There is a wide gulf between "okay" and "understandable". This app exists in a context, and it is one that has not valued women's consent, historically and contemporarily. Of course men deserve consent- but when "consent" as a cultural value has been so eroded, it seems silly to me to expect that women will hold the line on a standard of behavior that is actively disadvantaging them and not being adequately observed in their preferred dating pool. As I mentioned before, this app is a reaction to…

I don't know where I said it can't get worse? I didn't, I literally said I don't think this is good for anybody. Like, just because I can reason how this happened and what it's rooted in, doesn't mean I think it's a net positive. I just think that without a meaningful solution to the actual issue this app tries to mitigate, we will continue to see people race to the bottom in an attempt to keep from being taken advantage of. FWIW, I don't have a solution either, but I think thats the harder but …

I also think some folks are also just emotionally unavailable and mistake that as an issue in their dating pool tbh, and I think its an equal opportunity blind spot. After all, if you're emotionally unavailable it's really hard to tell- it's often more about looking at your patterns of behavior over time, which a disproportionate focus on the "other" can help you avoid.

Lmfao, I won't lie, this is the truth. I have quite a few gay male friends. One of them married a man I considered very handsome and he was straight sized- and he's an absolute delight to boot, cooks amazing food, sweet and kind- I'd be lying if I didnt say I had a moment of envy here and there. A mutual gay friend, when we were commenting on their upcoming wedding, literally says "It's so heartening to see X is so much less shallow." Clearly Implying the choice of partner wasn't up to snuff, lo…

For once, the notallmen tag is applicable here. Not all men are on this app getting roasted- so, no, an entire group is not being punished. What's more, this app is also used to indicate that someone is a safe and considerate date. Would those men have something to say if the feedback was "made sure we both got off"? I'm not sure about that. The point being made was that men do have these same systems, oftentimes far more harmful, and have for a long time. Women who use this app are not uniquely…

I don't use the Tea app nor do I care to, but this claim that men do not have their own groups in the wake of Gisele Pellicot and the discovery of the Telegram "Rape Chats" that totaled over 70k members is not factual. Reddit itself is often used as a hub to disseminate nonconsensual sexual imagery to a primarily male user base, as requests for pictures of other men's girlfriends and partners abound, as well as offers to share them- and these are just in cases where it is explicit that there was…

The intent isn't to say that the internet isn't real, it's that it's a part of reality- meaning it isn't accurate to say it represents the whole. Instagram falls under this too. I'm really not saying more than women ARE attracted to men, and I gave a personal anecdote, since I am a woman and I am aware of women who find men attractive, but I am not willing to argue about it- I only offered my perspective because I thought it'd be reassuring. Take care.

I think its important to remember that the internet isn't an unbiased, random sample of people, and are not necessarily population representative. You're more likely to get disagreements to stated opinions than validation and we subconsciously seek out things that confirm fears and biases we hold- it's human nature and its across the board, no matter how impartial you might think you are or how much you're trying to control for it. The culture of a website and even a forum within the website als…

If women are powerful, with superior agency to men in every way, why do they need to pretend there is a system that victimizes them? What function do you think that would serve? Actually, we could take this a step further. If we're enslaving men via subterfuge, given our superior role in society, why not outright? Could we not change laws so you are seen as property once we marry you and we can benefit off your labor without needing to worry you'll leave and find another woman to support?

If men fall behind women in everything, it stands to reason waiting to marry a rich man to exploit would be not be a sound strategy in the slightest, given how few men there would be that would be able to outpace whatever earning potential she would have. If a life of luxury is the aim, as you say, and if men are disadvantaged in every metric, a much sounder strategy would be partnering consistently with gay or bi women, as they would be much more likely to have earning power- and since sex is n…

I think you're thinking of "equality" which is differentiated from "equity". Equality treats every person the same, regardless of what is needed. Equity acknowledges the differences in what is needed to succeed. Because of this sensitivity, there is able to be a baseline established of what we deem appropriately successful. In a system of "equality", no one should hold more wealth than another in order for everyone to be the same, yes? In a system of "equity" we first have to define the goal- wh…

/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/25 06:35 AM

I agree equity is likely not achievable but I do think it's pursuit is worthy. I'm not sure it's necessarily always the case sexes must be treated unequally in order to better matters of inequity. For example, our maternal mortality rates (meaning the US) are not equitable when held up to other countries with equal means. The solution here does not lie in treating men differently. Inadequate health care for women requires more research on their bodies- not necessarily less research on men. And m…

Women have different arousal tendencies than men that they're often not even aware of or how it works or even that it differs. This is partially because the default understanding of what is sexual is largely informed by a more masculine perspective of desire. I do understand there's a sentiment floating around that women aren't attracted to men, but if I'm having a sexual relationship with a man, I'm not just attracted, I'm wildly attracted, and a huge part of that attraction is who he is. I thi…

You can feel however you want, and I certainly can't stop you, and you can decide whether or not you want to have sex etc- this is your life, after all. As long as you aren't actively harming others or immiserating them you don't have to like anybody you don't want to. The issue comes when that dislike crosses over into a need to impose your perspectives onto others in order to satisfy this dislike. For instance, if a man told me he wanted to stay single because though he's straight he doesn't e…

Sure, you don't have to want to have sex. Nobody owes that to anybody. Does celibacy include masturbation? I always thought it was just about sex with others. I know there are toys that can help and from what I hear the prostate orgasm is the best one men can have, but also if you decided not to explore that I obviously dont want to push the issue. Whatever you decide for yourself is ultimately what's best. A life without sex is just as good as one with it.

Again- do you actually care about this, or do you just want someone to be angry with? I provided you with a link last night that shows feminists were talking about this back in 2015. I told you I myself don't support circumcision. Other commenters who are not sympathetic to feminism have even corrected you here. You told me yesterday this was the first time you're hearing of any feminist dissent to circumcision- I'm not surprised now. You seem to have forgotten we even spoke about this at all lo…

Look, again- why do we have to compare these things are all?? I don't think you can speak for everyone here- only yourself. But I urge you to go ahead and take a poll- ask the men here in this forum if they'd rather be circumcised or castrated. Do you think how you feel doesn't matter unless it's acknowledged you're the worst off??? The laser point focus on feminism here makes no sense to me. Feminists are actually talking about this. You know who isn't? People who aren't feminist and don't have an interest in a MRM perspective. Yet you have absolutely no derision for those folks, even though they circumcise their children all the time. Feminists are not a dominant population and we often aren't having children. Do you mean like, anything, ever? I can't agree with that. I do think there are worse experiences than circumcision or FGM and some women endure them- also some men. Also, we are women, not females.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/25 03:54 AM
1

By 'anything', I am assuming you mean in the realm of medical procedures, am I correct? Then yes, I do not think women in western societies have any kind of comparable experience to circumcision. There is evidence it's painful and causes trauma to the baby. You're already well aware it can cause complications. It should never have been a routine procedure and it's proliferation was based on pseudoscience and puritanical notions of sexuality.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/01/25 03:51 AM

Thats unfortunate. I do think it's rather atypical to have a sensationless penis head, as I've typically heard that described as the most sensitive part of a penis, particularly one's that are circumcised. In any case, I am sorry you've been robbed of the full experience of pleasurable sensation. That your mother was a feminist explains why you likely think this is a route feminist perspective when it is not. Did your father support your circumcision as well, or was he in objection?

I understand the anatomy. What I am saying is that the most common form of FGM is not hood removal- it is clitoris removal.

You're incorrect. Globally, the most common form of FGM is type 1 and type 2 which are partial or total removal of the clitorial hood. The link verifying this is what the comment you replied to is quoting- a source provided by a man who was also claiming this incorrectly. Please update your facts. The equivalent of the procedure detailed in the comment you're responding to would be the total removal of the penis head. Tbh, I admit I interpreted the admittedly highly specific man as an "example" for the thought experiment which I saw as transparently hoping to support a conclusion that there is no way to make an average man palatable in the modern dating market... You have stated in a few comments that the least severe FGM is the most widely practiced, without caveating what you do here- in some countries. When we look at total numbers on a global scale, they are the least common. This is what I mean by distortion. I don't think you're accurately representing what the data truly reflects in order to make it better support your argument. Feminists advocate for male children to remain intact. Here's a random article I googled in 3 seconds from 2015 talking about how male circumcision is a feminist issue and identifying how the MRM is latching onto the issue. I'm not cosigning all of her takes (believe it or not, feminists are not a hivemind simply because we organize) but as you can see, this topic has been one within the online discussion of feminism for at least 10 years and in truth, longer. Many feminist values do not become …

/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 06:07 AM

You're quoting the WHO report, which is the most comprehensive one we have, and they lay this out very clearly in it- the most practiced form of FGM is the partial or total removal of the clitoris. None of this means men should get circumcised or that it doesn't matter. Please do not distort this issue any further than it already has been.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 06:01 AM

Hey, I'm a feminist. Men should not be circumcised at birth unless it would somehow endanger their life. Hope this helps!
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 05:59 AM

The two you indicate are also the ones that are the least practiced.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 05:57 AM
22

This can't be possible because we don't actually know how many nerve endings the clitoris has. Most recently it's been estimated at over 10,000. I do of course need to mention that circumcised men almost always are still able to orgasm and do so at a higher rate than even intact women during sex, and that women who are subject to FGM often lose their ability to orgasm altogether as that is the purpose of the act.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/25 05:55 AM
5

Yup, and it's off. Like the comment above you says- they don't have to be equally bad to both matter. If you were to do the most commonly practiced form of FGM on a penis, you'd be removing either part or all of the head of the penis. Circumcision sucks, but its way less severe.

OP, I think its OK that you're socially anxious- a lot of women are too, and might appreciate connecting with someone who can understand that experience. Not necessarily. Just because I didn't find someone attractive wouldn't mean I think they're a bad person, or less deserving of respect, consideration and dignity. It doesn't even preclude our connection. The only meaningful take away would be I *might* not want to have sex with them. I say 'might' because I've found my sense of attraction to someone can develop or change over time as I get to know someone- like most people I imagine. I am positive your personality is not repulsive nor are you a worse option for people. I don't say this to erase your pain, which seems deep and intense and difficult to tolerate. I would be afraid too in your shoes, it's reasonable and ok to be afraid when you see something happening for others and not yourself and you so badly want it. It's ok to be angry about it too, I think. Please have some compassion for yourself if you can. This honestly was painful just to read.

I can see how it would leave the woman unsatisfied but why would it leave you unsatisfied? You can walk away knowing you have more experience. You walk away knowing you were unkind to someone who adored you and now they are devastated. You walk away knowing you've disappointed and hurt someone you likely came to care for. This contributes to a negative concept of self. You walk away not really even knowing anything because you were only ever half in, and so true effort was never on the table. In…

Just chiming in to say, I think its fine the relationships end, and it's actually good that they do if the relationship lacked something fundamental- it helps people understand what they want and grow. I'm sure it's probably at least contributing to it. Meeting total strangers and expecting to foster deep connection right off the bat never was going to be a great formula for success, I think. These positions are not really intellectually at odds with one another. The ability to have access to financial autonomy and independence is supported by anti discrimination policy and affirmative action, especially if we look at it through a historic lens.
