It actually further solidified my point. Sugar consumption and diabetes are correlated. The public takes this correlation and labels sugar consumption as the cause of diabetes. Sugar (any consumable sugar) in and of itself does NOT cause diabetes. Diabetes is the result of being obese.

If you're trying not to get fat, then focus on your caloric intake. There is nothing wrong with HFCS. Your body recognizes it as a carbohydrate and digests it accordingly. The problem with it is it's very easy to over consume which leads to a surplus in calories and thus leading to fat gain. Artificial sweeteners arent really bad for you either. It's what you do when you're awake. If you are more productive at night then you have nothing to worry about. Some people, like myself, are more productive in the morning, but I'm in bed by 12 so whatever works for you is what you should do
