–	My 31 yr old Uncle (surgeon) got shamed because he refused to marry a post-wall 30 year old It does sound like the dude was a pussy but he can't be blamed for maturing. The increase in his SMV was probably a catalyst for a re-evaluation of his life and he realised that if he stayed with her it would have led to a shit marriage.
