women are actually all monitor lizards who evolved to lead solitary lives, that's why they are incapable of close bonds with other humans, male or female

but people do laugh about FGM and acting like that doesn't happen helps neither men nor women. why must (almost literally) every topic on this board have some kind of comment about "but if this was a woman!!!" and that's ok but when I try to challenge that I'M the one "derailing?"

she should have her kids taken away EDIT: OMG I thought it said "as a woman with sons". I hope she doesn't have kids, boys or girls.

ummm i'm not the person who brought up a "universe where a woman having her genitals mutilated is considered funny" so get mad at heforeverbleeds for his "gender reversal". acting like FGM doesn't exist doesn't help men either

not to discount how horrific and atrocious OP is....but you do realize FGM is a widely practiced thing too, right?

it wasn't just the topic by MensAdvocate, multiple posters in multiple topics about the subject (including this very one, look at SpikeGiraffe's comment) are calling victims of sexual assault prostitutes.

I'm on mobile and that's a big PDF to scroll through (391 pages!!) but I'm trying to go through it. Do you have any unbiased sources that discuss gender disparities in leadership globally? Edit: Im gonna agree with you without reading the sheets, based on what you're saying that is pretty fucked up analysis. I guess my question about other sources though is, do you dispute the findings as far as underrepresentation of women in leadership? Cause that's what's I brought the statistics up for

today's girls, tomorrow's leaders I think the point of this vs saying that about boys is that globally, women are still very under-represented in leadership positions. The World Economic Forum put this out two years ago detailing the gender disparity in leadership internationally. http://reports.weforum.org/global-gender-gap-report-2014/ https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2015/01/where-are-the-women-in-global-leadership-7-charts/

How do we know they're feminists? I sorted by controversial in that /r/movies topic and found a few random quotes. Is anyone we disagree with automatically a feminist? I think it's a shitty time to bring up a point like that to be fair. But there is an interesting dichotomy in the way men vs women are responded to when it comes to accusations of sexual assault, both in real life but also in this very forum. Compare the topics about Weinstein to the ones about Crews' coming forward with his story…

Are feminists actually griping that Crews is getting praise as a victim? Do you have examples or links of feminists complaining about this?

This board loves to talk about how there's no (systematic or otherwise) oppression of women in society, but when something like this that is a textbook example of structural sexism against women comes up, and the vast, vast majority of comments here are either downplaying, justifying, or reinforcing it. This whole topic is a dumpster fire and a perfect example of the misogyny that mainstream society sees as inherent in the mens rights movement(with capital letters) Edit: and reproductive justice…

I agree, to an extent. And I'll admit that calling an actor having sex wth someone like Weinstein "trafficking" or enslavement is hyperbole. I was more trying to make a point about how cruel it is to call people coerced into sex by people with institutional power over them "prostitutes" and call for their criminalization.

Instead of trying to dismantle the structures that allow employers to take sexual advantage of employees by offering them advantages, you think the better choice is to allow men the same opportunities to be taken advantage of? You don't see how fucked up that is? Mens Advocate my ass FYI forced prostitution is called human trafficking or enslavement, and generally authorities aim to punish the people forcing the prostitution but not the actual sex workers themselves, who are victims of trafficki…

I don't think having sex to get ahead is "right", but a big part of this that you don't seem to understand is the issue of consent and power dynamics, which makes the two situations you described totally different. There's a reason COs can't ever have sex with inmates, or professors with students, or parents with children; even if both parties "consent" it's still considered sexual assault or rape, as it should be.

Weinstein has admitted to using his institutional power to take advantage of women. Why are you defending him?

Wait, so "rape is stupid rare" and you should always assume a woman made it up, but ALSO "women rape men all the time". i'd love to believe you're just a troll but unfortunately you probably do believe all the shit you say. reading through your post history is so sad, you seem to lead a pretty miserable existence. i'm sorry man

I Oh wow, I'm so sorry for everything you and your child went through. That sounds terrible. I hope you all got The help and support you need and deserve. I'm sure YOU already know this, but damn that's just so infuriating. This is a good fucked up example of like, men not being believed when they bring up sexual assault, men being seen as the perpetrators, even when they are the victims or trying to help the victims, and the total lack of resources or help for men in this situation. I'm really …

I know it's very personal, but if you were willing could you elaborate on your experience calling RAINN? I've always had a good impression of RAINN, from personal experience and from referring clients I work with (tbqh mostly women but some men) to them. If I shouldn't be referring men there I'd like to know eta: my experience has been that they mostly are useful in getting referrals to more local organizations for legal/emotional/etc support. the shitty thing is that depending on where you are …

as a gay man i'm sure as fuck glad i didn't have a dad that was "traditionally masculine, concerned about feminizing trends among boys and young men" is all i can say. and i'm not even effeminate but still. hope your husband gets over his issues so he can raise your son with love, no matter who he turns out to be edit: also probably don't circumcise your son

It's a commentary on how difficult it is to access abortion, and juxtaposes the ease with which one buys a gun vs the difficulty in accessing reproductive health care. I think you missed the point. Sure, gun shops are all over the place, but there are several states in the USA that only have one abortion provider which requires patients (usually rural, low income) travel hundreds of miles and make multiple visits to far away clinics. Nice condescending little "hun" there at the end, when you did…

Do you have examples of what you mean? Men/ the state doing violence on the behalf of women? Do you mean individual women? I guess I can see your point when it comes to state violence (ie the military) but in terms of things like mass shootings I don't really see what you're trying to say. And why are men more likely to agree(??) to enact violence on the behalf of women? What societal pressures encourage men to be more violent, solve problems with violence, or use it as a tool at the behest of w…

I don't necessarily agree with the text in the OP. However, I'm really interested in this dichotomy I see in the discourse on this board, where on one hand posters are VERY resistant to having any kind of meaningful discussions about the intersections of masculinity and mass shootings/ violence, whereas it seems to be encouraged to discuss the intersections of women and crime/violence. There's literally a mod-stickied post at the top right now that is simply a list of cases of women abusing chil…

At least mods recognized the misogynist insult in the title of the other topic wasn't appropriate. Gendered slurs aren't really the best way of making points about gender oppression, right?
