Meek with strangers because they can't predict the reaction. Full of audacity once theyre comfortably sure the victim will give them no consequences.

Right? When I was a teenager I did this and my mum almost lost her mind with fright that I could have been hurt from the smoke inhalation. It wasnt till after she'd had the chance to check I was alright and calm down a bit that she realised the house could have burnt down and went mad at me for that 😂

I live in the West so I'm aware that my strategies might not work if youre in a country that is culturally backwards, but heres whats worked for me. Plus my kids are little so I cant speak on raising teens yet. Read Reza Aslans book No God, but God and reframe a lot of what you were brought up being taught about Islam. Check out the progressive_islam sub and take from there what you feel comfortable with, especially their stuff on women. I had to unlearn a lot of the mysoginist crap I was raised…

A lot of this was really great! You clearly love your little brother so much! Have to say though, silent treatment and withholding love/food is definitely not modelling HV behaviour. At 7 those are definitely strategies that will do more harm than good. Janet Lansbury and Mama Manon have both written some great stuff on discipline and boundary-setting that might help in the future.

At brunch with my mum and aunties we were all talking about our labour experiences. (That generation of women in my family ALL ended up with abusive husbands.) They all had awful stories. By far the worst was the one who had no family in the city she lived in at the time and went into labour prematurely. She broke down crying, "Please take me to the hospital, I'm in labour" He went mad at her, "No, you're not. You're not even due yet." She begged, pleaded and bargained. He finally agreed to driv…

Not even a resolution to reciprocate her effort. Not even developing feelings of love or affection. Her 'prize' is just him realising she is the person most willing to cater to him.

I HATE this!!!!! Drives me frikken insane when I see a full-grown woman on a screen taking a tantrum at her "parents", because she's playing a teen who wants to go to a party. Anyone watching that would be like, "well that 14 year old looks old enough to handle herself at a party..." Worse still, "That 14 year old is really attractive?" NO! A 14 year old is a CHILD and generally will look like A CHILD. People with limited experience with children and young teens will have totally skewed views of…

The toughest thing I find with staying healthy is the water! I eat super well, I'm active... I just cant bring myself to regularly drink a glass of water.... I remember to at dinner and sometimes at lunch, but often I'll get to the end of the day and realise, "Shit, I forgot again today!" No clue how much damage I must be doing by being so careless about something so important.

I'm packing my three little girls into a car and heading to the sea. It's cold here at the moment, so they'll be all cute and cuddly in matching brown cardigans and little knit beanies. We'll be getting fish and chips for lunch then having a stroll along the board walk. My three year old is totally in love with her babydoll and just got a toy pram for her birthday... which blew her mind. I'll bring that along and she'll be thrilled to use it in public. The other two aren't into dolls but they en…

I did this!!! I didnt get a masters, just a bachelor in teaching but I realised I didnt want my entire career to be with my students saying, 'Miss xyz'. I only just managed to change it all in time. I'll give you a heads up that changing your name is SUCH a hassle. (But I have no regrets, I'd do it all over again.

I've never done drugs but during that movie, I felt like I had. That whole thing was the weirdest trip.

I absolutely had the chat in front of him! His face when we compared his behaviour to the girl who says, "I thought we were friends" 😂😂😂 Ngl I was extremely out of my comfort zone with staying firm, but FDS has me realising that for six years I have modelled to my daughters that when a man acts like that, you petty to him. I have some serious making up to do and that was a start 😄

A male relative was asked to pick up a few grocery items on his way over. He uses the most minimal amount of effort, so a few of the veggies he brings are visibly old. A few lighthearted comments are made about this, which sets him seething. No apology from him, no acknowledgement or explanation- silent sulking. My six year old thought it was all pretty funny and she says with giggles, "Please, next time don't bring off-veggies" He responds immediately, "You don't need to worry about that! I am …

My family is full of women who absolutely devote their entire being to making their husbands happy, and live in this delusion that their husbands are deserving of this level of servitude. The story that gets handed down however, with wide-eyes and quietened giggles is about my grandmother's grandmother. Apparently, as a newly-wed, her husband came back from work, exhausted, to his plate on the table with a piece of raw chicken and some uncooked veggies. Him: confused Her: Oh you prefer cooked fo…

Of all the widespread lies, this BAFFLES me the MOST. I cannot think of a single woman who has been able to coast by while contributing nothing of value to her partners life. I can think of too many dropkick men who are supported by their wives, financially and with housework. And all these women justify putting up with it "because I love him!" Honestly, I feel like women are the only one who are capable of "loving unconditionally".

The story was great till I read this comment... Were you hoping to make him uncomfortable using "the hairy Greek" stereotype? If his nationality was relevant because it made the insult hurt more, then that's racist and not a fun story.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
