This allows you to too narrowly define discrimination. For instance, if culturally women are required to go home for kids, and staying home harms the chances of being a CEO, then this is a problem that needs to be culturally addressed. You may not consider that to be discrimination, but it is--why aren't the men staying home. This is basically a way of sticking your head in the sand and ignoring any problem that you don't want to solve.

No, you are correct this diagnostic tool works both ways: when more women are given custody, that is a problem that needs to be addressed too. 60% in college, mean that the recruitment in elementary school/high school needs to also re-address men.

To be perfectly fair, as long as there is gender inequality in certain areas, such as STEM (EE/CS classes have about 10% women. In many foreign countries it's close to 50%) there is a problem. As long as 50% of CEOs are not women, there is a problem. We have certainly not addressed everything that should be addressed. When you see a lopsided system, something caused it even if that something is not entirely obvious. I believe some of 3rd wave feminism may be addressing some of these subtler issu…
