Fair enough, you did concede. Apologies. Forgive me if I don't remember every comment I post on Reddit. No need to project your neuroticism onto me with foul language. People make mistakes. Again, I didn't negate any apparent toxicity within the space, I just stated that it wasn't majorly part of my experience until recent. OP asked for experiential accounts, which I provided. Generalities/stereotypes can provide utility, which is why people use them. Obviously, you can find a woman who would be…

I'm not using nuance as a shield. I'm giving an accurate account of my personal experience and the specific content I was consuming, which I've been transparent about throughout. You're essentially arguing that because toxicity existed in 2015, nothing has meaningfully changed, but that sidesteps the point entirely. The issue isn't whether TRP was ever benign, it's that the content, the audience, and the ideological trajectory have all shifted towards something more extreme and more widespread. …

Fair enough, and I'll acknowledge that misogyny has existed in the space since its inception. Though I'd argue how much you encountered depended heavily on what you were actually consuming, which is why I was specific about that in my original comment. Either way, I don't think that undermines the broader point I was making. The manosphere has been proliferating and becoming increasingly misogynistic over time, and there's data to support that. Research consistently shows incel communities are g…

No worries, you're not alone. Worth keeping in mind that r/exredpill isn't exclusively made up of people who were actually in the red pill. A fair portion of the community appears to be people who were never in it to begin with, whether that's blue pill or feminist leaning, which means some of the commentary can lack the contextual understanding that comes from having genuinely engaged with the material. It's just all misogyny to them, removed from nuance. You can see it in how my comment was re…

I didn’t say there weren’t toxic elements e.g. negging. But as someone who was actually part of the red pill, I’ve seen it become progressively more toxic. I do not need to take another pill lol. The red pill was enough.

Yes, I agree. As it has become more radicalised, it has also become more dehumanising.

So do men: Blind men prefer a low waist-to-hip ratio Btw, I do think patriarchial systems exist and have contributed to our social conditioning. But I think it's ludicrous to disregard evolution's role on our species biologically and psychologically. Blank state theory doesn't make sense to me.

That's how they paint it but they cherry-pick studies and come up with irrational arguments such that actual evolutionary psychologists don't condone the red pill. For instance, I know for a fact that many researchers in the domain have beef with Rollo Tomassi. If you're a fan of evopsych, just go to the source. It provides more nuance.

Yes, I agree. Back in 2015, the red pill was largely centred on game and self-improvement, think Simple Pickup, RSD, and books like The Game by Neil Strauss or The Mystery Method. The framing was broadly actionable, and the most controversial edge of it was tactics like 'negging'. That looks relatively tame compared to where things have drifted. Now you're seeing content like Myron Gaines' 'Why Women Deserve Less,' which isn't about self-improvement at all. It's outright misogyny being packaged …

I don't deny that patriarchal systems exist or contribute. I just think biology and evolution deserve a seat at the table too. It sounds like you're able to engage with that more openly than most in this space, which I appreciate. What I'm pushing back on specifically is gender feminism and radical feminism in its more extreme expressions, where social constructionism tends to function less as a hypothesis and more as an axiom. That's where the nuance gets lost. Take crying as a straightforward …

As I mentioned, I don't dismiss social conditioning entirely. The question is whether it's the only cause, and I don't think it is. On the hunter-gatherer point, that's a fair challenge and worth acknowledging. I'll concede that both height and weight preferences in women may fluctuate across cultures, which suggests environmental factors are at play there. But waist-to-hip ratio preferences are a different story. Those have been shown to be remarkably consistent cross-culturally, and crucially,…

I understand the premise, I just don't agree with it. I'll acknowledge I'm probably an outlier in this subreddit given the feminist lean here, but I find the evolutionary psychology lens more compelling, the idea that natural selection shaped our mate preferences long before culture had a chance to. Female preference for taller men, for instance, is more plausibly explained as an instinctual residue of selecting for protection and physical capability than as a product of patriarchal conditioning…

What characterises an incel is coalescing around beliefs that actively uphold their own singlehood, treating rejection as confirmation of a fixed truth rather than a temporary obstacle. As long as you recognise you still have agency, you're not there. Height is a genuine preference for a lot of women, that's just true. But preference isn't the same as a hard filter, and it's rarely the only thing being weighed. Confidence, humour, social presence and how you carry yourself all factor in, and tho…

I'm not sure how female standards in attractiveness (i.e. wanting a man to be taller than them) equates to "patriarchal society's standards".

US stats actually show that higher income men have less of an age gap (for married men aged 30-54). Source: https://x.com/MackenMurphy/status/1947308972618260750?s=20

I came across some dating app stats which found that "the average woman’s desirability drops from the time she is 18 until she is 60. For men, desirability peaks around 50 and then declines". It’s worth stressing this is from one app, based on a few large US cities, so it may not generalise. A evolutionary psychology interpretation is that men and women, on average, prioritise slightly different traits in mate selection. Male preferences tend to place more weight on cues linked to fertility (e.g…

I thought it was well-made and fairer than I expected. It didn't feel agenda-driven (unlike Adolescence) or editorially leading, the questions were genuine rather than gotcha journalism, and it largely let the subjects expose themselves. Most of them came across poorly. Justin Waller was the exception, he held himself relatively well. The standout moment for me was HS calling out the genocide, that was a legitimate point that landed aha. Only thing I'd add is that interviewing Rollo Tomassi and …

I was initially drawn in by the self-improvement angle after my first heartbreak (e.g. go to the gym, improve your game, start cold-approaching). But over the years the space became something else entirely. The research actually maps this shift well. Singlehood is a predictor of poor mental health, particularly among men, and is associated with increased misogynistic attitudes. That psychological vulnerability has fuelled the proliferation of the manosphere, which has evolved from relatively ben…

Singlehood is a predictor of poor mental health, particularly among men, and is associated with increased misogynistic attitudes. That psychological vulnerability has fuelled the proliferation of the manosphere, which has evolved from relatively benign origins in pick-up artistry and men's rights activism toward more extreme subsets like inceldom and Men Going Their Own Way. These communities actively reinforce singlehood as an identity, which perpetuates the cycle. So I don't think the red pill…

It doesn't even factor in until you're in the bedroom, and by that point a woman has already made up her mind about you. The only real concern is the extremes: being unusually small or unusually large. Everything upstream of that matters far more to attraction and selection: your height, personality, intelligence, ambition, how you carry yourself. I say this as someone who's well-endowed. It doesn't translate into success with women. If anything, gay men place considerably more weight on it than…

You didn’t even acknowledge the study where I show educational hypergamy is decreasing. You’re being disingenuous. I’m coming to this discussion with a nuanced position. You’re just projecting your dislike of evopsych which is okay. We can agree to disagree.

It’s about the quality of the research, not who does the research. I already understand its flaws but it’s getting better. Anyway, I guess it’s just a matter of belief. I don’t believe social constructionism has all the answers. Evolutionary biology has some part to play and evopsych is about understanding how that manifests itself behaviourally.

I just had a skim. It seems he’s debunking how the manosphere incorrectly cherrypicks evopsych which is what I alluded to in my initial comment. It seems that ppl are lacking comprehension skills. Not once did I co-opt how the red pill incorrectly uses evopsych. I even posted a study that shows educational hypergamy is decreasing despite its prior existence which proves exactly what I’m talking about.

I’m not sure how that discounts female hypergamy’s existence. Both genders are capable of being hypergamous. Women just tend to exhibit the behaviour more as they’re the choosier sex.

Not really sure what that adds to the discussion or how it disproves hypergamy. Just go read some studies if you doubt its existence.

Yeah, that’s called assortative mating (homogamy), but doesn’t rule out hypergamy altogether. I’m talking about how psychologists talk about it based on empirical evidence.

Yes it is. Hypergamy has historical precedent across cultures, though some of its expressions are evolving. Educational hypergamy, for instance, is shifting as women now outperform men academically. As a result, the most educated women increasingly have to partner down. This is reflected in the data. This study finds that highly educated women tend to partner with less educated men rather than remain single, while medium-educated women are less likely to partner up with highly educated men. Cruc…

Yes, I agree. Back then, the main premise was acknowledging female hypergamy and the fact that life doesn’t play out like a Disney fairytale when it comes to dating. And the recommended course of action back then was self-improvement and pick-up artistry. Nowadays, the “manosphere” in general has become more misogynistic and nihilistic. I remember that the red pill would cherry-pick studies from evolutionary psychology which is what piqued my interest the most. But it got a lot of things wrong. …

I’ve only been on 1 first date and got the spark comment. I can’t imagine doing 40. Damn, I feel for you. I’d try to analyse the issue. D’you not match or photos, or does your game just suck? Once you’ve found the culprit, try and fix the issue.

Yeah, I wouldn't say they're necessarily dumb - but some of them are highly attuned to assessing how others stack in the social hierarchy. Also, if all they have to go off is what your profile looks like, how are they meant to gauge how well-rounded of an individual you are if you don't display it. I'll give you an example. I've been on 12+ holidays over the past 3 years, and I've only posted 1/2 of them. If I invested time curating photos of each holiday, then my profile would be conveying the …

I have the opposite problem where I sleep with girls I meet in person, then we follow each other on IG and she discovers that my profile is inactive and there’s little photos of myself. Whereas hers usually has loads of curated selfies, with comments from her friends saying how beautiful she is. But yeah, 50% of people are meeting online nowadays whether that be through dating apps or social media. As you’re literally going by what you can see, what matters is how you appear to be. So it’s about…

Exactly. After reading George Orwell and Machiavelli, my view on people changed. A lot of people's identity is just sculpted by what they've been taught by their society. They're cognitively dissonant to reaching out of that box. All they see of Africa is charity adverts of skinny children batting flies out of their eyes, or safaris. They feel slavery was a service to the African diaspora, and in fact, was a means of civilisation. It's ironic really.

I think there's many reasons. One may be codependency, where the dysfunctional relationship often reflects an individual's upbringing/insecurities. Another could be status i.e. trophy wife. I also feel it depends on your definition of compatibility. I'd describe it as subjective settling.

Oh ok, what your doing is fine then. The ironic thing is that when you start distancing yourselves from girls and ignoring them (unexpectedly), that often gets them more interested in you. Lool I used to get off of the validation from this but I realised that was a dick move.

Yeah, it used to even turn me off and make me go into defensive mode when the girl was much more into me than I was into her. It depends on your goals though, are you a lover of women and coitus in general i.e. scoping for girls DTF. Or are you looking for something in particular?
