Didn't realize there was a purge going on, just saw the content coming up on my feed. Made me think y'all had finally jumped the shark. I don't personally object to going crazy now and then but you gotta think about how misogynistic content can and will be used against the sub even if it's a "purge". this kind of shit is awful...actually kinda funny but with the wrong, overly-generalized title it becomes toxic. If this was a whole week, yeah, maybe it should be cut down a bit.

But social conditioning is a part of what makes us who we are. I'm not some random guy who lives in a hellhole and rapes, I'm the guy who lives in a society that abhors rape and I buy into those values. Let's say my genetic code was copied into a new zygote and someone carried that baby to term and then dumped him in an ancient Mongolian horde in Genghis Khan's time to be raised by them and socially conditioned by their tribe. Yes that guy would probably not give a fuck, and if the horde taught …

Thanks! I read "Sapiens" recently, which primed me for this discussion. There's a discussion (maybe a whole chapter?) there about why so many more human societies throughout history have been patriarchal rather than matriarchal. He goes few quite a few hypotheses (physical coercion, ability to do hard manual labour, sexual selection strategies, etc etc), and ends up dismissing all of them, which was a bit glib because I thought he didn't think much about how the mechanisms could interact to prod…

Women work in the US not only because of feminism but also because LBJ and others in the 1960s wanted to compete with the communists. They changed society to get women into the workforce to push up economic output. By and large - and I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions - but for the most part, women have equal status because automation and machined generally have devalued physical brute-strength labour. That was men's major advantage over women. Now that's gone, (though they do have distinct…

I'm not preaching some kind of MGTOW philosophy, if every single man suddenly stopped interacting with women outside of strictly business and professional situations, I'd give it about a month or two before there would be no more celibate men For better or worse, it sounds like you are preaching some kind of MGTOW philosophy to me. Kind of like the "sex strike" that was going around on twitter but more like an "attention strike" by men. I think you're right, speaking strictly factually, but even…

I'm struggling to see the equivalence here. I do see the inequality in that after sex, only a woman gets a say in whether the couple has a child. I also see the inequality in that women tend to get looked on favorably in custody battles, although I suspect that's because women get an advantage in forming an emotional bond with the child after having physically carried them for 9 months and then, in most cases, nursing them as infants. I get confused when you talk about "unfair to punish only the…

Awful. In my case, I had literally just arrived in the country, subletting a shitty converted apartment in a garage (so not even a utilities account with the city), and I don't know how LA County would have known my name and phone number. I had the same thing down at Autozone when I got in there (my phone # was in their system registered to some other guy) so I think this was more them looking for a particular person who'd previously had my #.

True. Well I take back the "conservative echo chamber" comment but it still sounds like BS. OP didn't mention any source. Here's a report from a blue pill, cucked, ultra feminist activist group called....checks notes Deloitte. They say the US child support system brings in $5 for every dollar spent, which sounds pretty good to me. https://www2.deloitte.com/insights/us/en/industry/public-sector/modernizing-federal-child-support-program.html

I suspect there are some trust issues going on and some of these guys are terrified some woman will trap them into parenthood. No woman I ever slept with seemed keen on the idea of single motherhood with or without a payment so it's not been an issue for me. If you use a condom correctly the chances are pretty minimal. Guys, do that, plus avoid casual sex with women who have moral issues with abortion, and you'll be fine. I knew a guy who had a real scare after he was casually dating a woman and…

I gotta say, it's weird seeing all the self-identified beta and omega male red pillers on this fall over themselves to argue why Chad shouldn't be made to pay for his behavior.

I see - interesting to know! I agree they should change that. I guess in China there's a bunch of things that aren't effectively enforced.

yeah that sounds like some kind of conservative echo-chamber game-of-telephone BS generated out of one too many /r/ForwardsFromGrandma

With you on that! I probably agree more than disagree with you. But this was marked as a "CMV" my top-level post must focus on our areas of disagreement. I wonder where you're coming from though because isn't this actually the expectation in practice in...pretty much every country...that both parents should take responsibility for children? Are you just saying the status quo is basically correct: fathers should pay child support if they don't live with the child? Funny story: a few years ago I m…

Ideally, yes, but it isn't always possible. Some biological fathers are not capable of paying child support. I don't know the figures, but I suspect that fathers who are capable of supporting their children generally do. They'll live with the child and the child's mother, or if they don't live with the child, they generally do pay some child support if they are capable. For the minority who are capable, but don't, I'm all for holding them responsible. That leaves the fathers on low incomes or wh…

There are two claims made about male and female brains that sound the same superficially but are actually very different. One is true, and one is false: 1) "There is something distinct about male and female brains which you can always reliably use to tell the difference between male and female brains". In this perspective, brains are like genitals - women generally have vaginas and men generally have penises and most of the time you can tell a man from a woman if you can see which genitals they …

oohh another one a little related, about me personally (a man) this time. I was 17, and very upset about a breakup, I personally kicked a utility pole as hard as I could. I am a relatively responsible guy. It was a big, sturdy concrete pole and I wouldn't have kicked it if there was any chance of my causing actual damage. But my female friends looked on shocked as if they would never do such a thing, probably because they wouldn't. Men externalizing their problems in this way is a real thing. I …

Another one I didn't see personally, but heard from my mum. This time a man in his 20s, son of an old family friend, who my parents took in because he had nowhere else to go. He had had severe mental health issues: hallucinations, delusional beliefs, and anger management problems. He had a strong history of drug use no doubt related to his mental illnesses (whether the illness came from the drug use or the drug use was an attempt to self-medicate the illness - probably both!). He punched a wall …

I have. I believe it was at a Christian camp when I was about 15. The guy was about the same age - so technically he's a boy, not a man, but it's adult enough. He had probably been forced there by his parents, and he punched a hole in the wall as about 5 of us looked on because the camp wouldn't let him smoke a cigarette and he was involuntarily going through nicotine withdrawal.

Maybe because OP wants to do the right thing, believes feminists have women's best interests at heart, and so wants advice from people who respect women (feminists!).

I don't know, I wouldn't be surprised if on average women attach more quickly, but how large is the difference? If men didn't attach more quickly sometimes then there wouldn't be so many creepy stalker guys who get "too intense" after the first date. Just in the last week or two a friend told me about a guy like this she'd seen. Women like this are labeled "crazy", which I'm sure hurts, but men who do it can come off as downright threatening and scary to women, so when men do it, we attach a mor…

Lol if you're a guy thinking being attracted to women now is a hassle, you don't want this, can you imagine how many women would be taking this pill?

this study Can be done, but it can be detected, too. It's more often done to advance an individual's career than for political reasons, although the two can overlap. See https://www.thecut.com/2015/05/how-a-grad-student-uncovered-a-huge-fraud.html If a researcher has a political axe to grind, it's usually not necessary to fake data like this researcher did. More often, they can present data and just put their own spin on it according to the message they want it to have. Obviously corrosive to sc…

I beg to differ; I know a gay dude who...If he doesn't do that....Gives me schtick every time I see him that's a similar kind of faux-caring dominance play. Like idk if there's literally a "smile!" but often literally "hey don't be sad, stop it!" so essentially the same thing. I really hate it, my only defense mechanism is to look irritated and ignore the dude because I don't really know how to play this dominance game. I could literally just tell him to fuck off but that seems like overkill..
