I do because I’m an optimist and I try to see the good in people. So it does rather break my heart… a lot of what I have read in this thread. But I choose to be optimistic because I don’t want other men to have to pay for the bad behavior of some in my past. I try not to accept bad behavior and I wish you much better in your future.

I’m just being honest with what I do in that situation granted I’m probably older than you guys but I think good mature people are OK expressing their feelings. But I didn’t know anybody in my 20s that could handle it. I just think before you get emotionally vulnerable with someone. Actually, we all need to be careful but after a while anybody in a serious relationship should be OK sharing their feelings.

Well that is just a horrible person! And I’m sorry that they were that closed off and insensitive. If something drove you to tears I could only imagine how difficult that was for someone making you feel bad for it. I’m truly sorry for that experience.

I’m sorry to burst your bubble. I told them that I liked them and they said that they did not feel that way.

Why would you think that after I just said we discuss our dating issues with each other. We all go on dates with other people one of them has had a girlfriend for over a year and I’ve known him for five years. The other one I’ve known for multiple years and just became close friends the last two years. They’re not into me because I’ve been around forever and they’ve never asked me out and I liked them but they didn’t feel the same about me. But it’s a good thing because we’re not suited for each…

Well, I hope they get my friendship and support from opening up to me! And the two guys that I am referring to did take a long time to open up so I know that it’s difficult. I have known them for years. We share our dating experiences and trials of trying to find someone. It’s just sad that is so few and far between. And also who is a different for me? Or the guys? Man that I have dated and have had sex with have opened up to me and I have not seen them in any more negative light.

I’m not having sex with any of those guy friends. But anybody I am with I try to tell them that they can open up. I feel like we’re all just humans and trying to make the best of it. It makes me sad to think how closed off so many people are.

They must be immature women because I have guy friends that have opened up to me and I don’t think less of them, in fact I think way more of them.

I honestly didn’t realize how emotional men are. And it was a wonderful surprise with the ones that have opened up to me. I also realized the need to clearly express my own feelings and thoughts on even little things. I didn’t date for a really long time and then I thought all guys wanted was sex. I love it when I find a guy who actually can communicate and open up and be vulnerable. I think it’s dead sexy.

I’m so sorry this has been your experience but I would hope you’re talking about immature women because women who understand the need to expressed emotions would value you with that. I appreciate vulnerability because I want to be vulnerable.

I wish men were looking more for friends and then let the attraction build because I think I would be an awesome and encouraging best friend and that’s what’s so frustrating and not finding someone. I actually want the partnership where I build up my partner and they build me up and then we commit to helping each other. I’m 42 and definitely a little bit of a bigger girl so I guess I have to lose weight before guys will appreciate the friendship side.

Well, it might be easier for women to practice this kind of deception but I think it’s because we are more analytical and more able to see said situations more clearly. I have met narcissistic and devious men that have played me… All while seeming genuine and professing their honesty. So, again, I think in the end it comes down to a personal choice to be shady.

I am often attracted to nontraditional handsome men. What I find handsome you can’t tell just by looking at. I would actually say I’m attracted to men that probably look less aggressive or “masculine“ than your average male. I’m not saying I don’t find the other ones attractive but what I find most attractive is kindness and compassion mixed with a little playfulness.

You seriously think that it’s mostly women who do that? My experience, being someone who’s been taken advantage of plenty of times, is that it’s an individual person‘s responsibility to not be an asshole🤷🏼‍♀️

I think that’s good. I think I reacted to the line about it being a better view. But I get why you would say that.

I would not be mad at all please don’t think all women are like this… I don’t understand! That is so over-the-top amazing and kind and generous. You didn’t deserve her reaction but please know there are plenty of women that would cherish you for even thinking about doing that.

That is horrible and I am so sorry you experienced that… Please don’t lose that romantic sense. As a girl who has not ever had that kind of experience I hope that I find someone that is half as romantic as you.

It’s not desperate to want to save a marriage I think you were in the right! But I have to remind myself just because I do the right thing doesn’t mean that somebody else is going to want to. So I am very sorry that she did not feel the same. But I do think that’s on her.

But now you’re doing the exact behavior you don’t want other people to do… I don’t know if you’re still doing that but it just seems so sad to me.

I am so sorry that anyone would do this to you. I had to learn to listen to my intuition as well. Some people are really good at taking advantage of others.

That is fascinating and I appreciate your thought and info soooo much! Thank you! I really didn’t realize as I have never been married. I have had a few relationship but only a few months long. I am so interested in insights like this.

Well if I’m just meeting someone and they tell me a story about how they were able to help someone out that makes them cuter/more attractive. If I see someone be kind and help a homeless person or help a friend move with a good attitude it actually turns me on. Also, when a guy is kind to me and I’m having a hard time and he tries to make me laugh or honestly just be there and not try to fix it and be compassionate… that’s a big turn on as well.
