Women aren’t “put on a pedestal” when they’re owned. They’re told to sit still and shut up. They’re treated like animals. The whole concept stems from men owning woman. Like how a man needs a woman’s father’s permission to propose, about how he will “give” his daughter away. This idea still has real consequences even in the US: female sterilization isn’t legally protected so sometimes when women want to get sterilized, their doctors ask for their husband’s or father’s permission... even if they’re unmarried, already have children or married to another woman. 4	My Experience Going to Therapy I’m so sorry that you went through that. A lot of people have bad experiences in therapy, because unfortunately, like all professions, there are people that are just bad at their jobs. A lot of people find it helpful though, so try not to let it turn you off of the idea completely. 2	I’m new Hi, I’m a feminist. I think both feminism and men’s right get portrayed poorly by the wrong people at times. I honestly see a lot of similarities between the two which I think is not talked about enough. Like on this sub, there are some things I disagree with, but I agree with a lot of it.
