I get that, but I also think people believe they've done their processing way before it actually happens. You can try to do as much pre-processing as you want to, but grief is a spiral and healing is never as clean as we'd like it to be. I can't imagine someone moving into the final stages of separation/divorce and being like "yeah this is fine and I feel ready to approach dating with wholehearted optimism again"
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/25 02:25 PM

Men who are separated but not divorced really need to take a minute before they get back on dating apps. My state requires one year of separation before divorce. Not having the patience to wait 365 days before looking for another relationship is crazy to me. Like did you even process your grief bro? Did you even reassess your life and priorities bro? Did you even begin to address the trauma caused by spending years alongside the wrong person and watching your dreams die bro?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/25 02:19 PM

How can you tell if a woman is medicated based on appearance?
/r/PurplePillDebate09/12/25 02:12 PM

Why would I lie about that? "I don't think I'll like sex that much but I love you and I want to figure out how to make it work for us" doesn't strike me as some huge controversy anyone would need to cover up.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/12/25 12:23 AM

That's cool. I don't know why I should care what other women say.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 07:08 PM

I don't feel noble or virtuous about sex. I just don't care about it whatsoever.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 07:04 PM

As I told someone else, I'm a potentially asexual trad Christian. I have no drive towards sexual pleasure and physical attraction is meaningless to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 07:04 PM

Okay. Everyone is free to find partners who desire them the way they want to be desired.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 07:03 PM

I'm a possibly asexual trad Christian so believe whatever you want to, but that's how I feel
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 07:02 PM

I don't understand why everyone thinks physical attraction is a requirement to make intercourse happen. I must have a very different mindset from y'all.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 05:25 PM

Genuinely wouldn't happen. If the friend shared my interests and values, I'd date him even if he wasn't my physical type because I'm not fucking stupid.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 05:19 PM

It's a difficult belief to explain if you aren't Christian. A wife's body belongs to her husband, a husband's body belongs to his wife. Desire has nothing to do with responsibility. And at a certain point, sexual fulfillment is a marital responsibility.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 05:11 PM

I wouldn't fake it, no. But I don't have to desire it to have it. I also don't have to desire it to enjoy specific parts of it (I'd try to focus on those) or make it enjoyable for my spouse (I can be enthusiastic because I know it matters to them). I consider it a marital duty.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 05:02 PM

why is that mp3 player so wet
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 04:55 PM

I think it's part of marriage. You sacrifice for one another. My particular sacrifice might be learning how to adjust to sex and hopefully even enjoy it one day.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/12/25 04:50 PM

I don't like sex. It's frightening, painful, upsetting, and if I could go the rest of my life without it, I happily would. But I'll go through with it for the right person. What I want out of a relationship is compassion and companionship. Someone to cook dinner for. Someone to keep a house for. Someone to play video games with. Someone to have dumb little adventures with. Someone to grow old with and experience the beauty/pain of life with. Someone who wants to discover their purpose alongside …

Something I'm curious about: would you say you're a person who has high empathy, high emotional processing, high facial recognition skills, anything along those lines? I'm not asking that in any sort of judgmental way, I'm just wondering because to me, the microexpressions in her face are entirely inhuman (muscle twitches, eye movement/tracking, etc.) and I wonder if that "skill" contributes to whether a face appears AI generated to the viewer or not. my controversial opinion: every single guy I've talked to on dating apps has been nice, and I'm pretty convinced most of the posts of men acting nasty on apps are the result of poor preliminary vetting (that's not to say men haven't been flaky, avoidant, bad at communication, prone to ghosting...but they've all been baseline respectful and kind.)
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/25 07:35 PM

I like it. It's a charmingly quirky visual that illustrates the fine line between "grotesque" and "whimsical," and it conjures up a type of coziness that isn't usually associated with rot. Granting the audience an opportunity to hold those two (often incongruent) concepts in tension is a wonderful approach that really asks individuals to grapple with their understanding of comfort, grief, and all which is ephemeral. Plus the aging/decay process of organic matter is a fascinatingly beautiful and …
/r/PurplePillDebate02/12/25 05:59 PM

It all depends on how it was soured. Sour milk still has lots of uses and it's ridiculous to act like it's a waste product. Likewise, leave a glass of wine on your counter for a week. You get stale oxidized pisswater.

/r/PurplePillDebate02/12/25 03:09 PM

I simply intended to present a fact: I have never seen a trail specified. This led to my later point about biases, which I find to be an interesting and enjoyable subject to discuss. I apologize if my tone sounded critical, it certainly wasn't my intention. Autism makes me communicate incorrectly at times, and my tone may have been overly flat or direct. I will attempt to convey my points with more appropriate emotion and warmth in the future so as to not cause similar confusion.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/11/25 11:20 PM

It appears that you failed to read beyond the first line of my comment. The entire thesis of my comment is that we are all adding our own biases, so none of us are having a conversation about the same scenario. My bias is no better than his. His bias is no better than mine. No one is picturing this hypothetical situation in the same way, so in light of that complete lack of consensus, arguments about it are useless.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/11/25 10:38 PM
5

Which goes back to what I said elsewhere in the thread...the hypothetical situation is vague enough that everyone is applying their own definitions/contexts, rendering any meaningful discussion useless. I live around black bears so anytime a person says "bear," it's my first thought, for better or worse. Other people aren't thinking about black bears. We aren't approaching the hypothetical from the same baseline, therefore no meaningful conclusions can be drawn from any answers that don't define…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 05:58 PM

Are black bears not considered to be real bears? I didn't realize there was a biological distinction, I'll have to look that up.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 04:56 PM

I need to understand why you want an exact figure for "how many women are in the woods" because I can't imagine you actually believe that has been statistically tracked in any meaningful capacity. The answer is "probably a lot." Women live in the countryside. Women live in the mountains. Women live outside of cities.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 01:00 PM
2

Your question was "Ok, how many women are in the woods in her lifetime?" I don't know an exact figure, apologies. I also don't know the exact figure for how many men are in the woods in their lifetime. Though again, I assume my estimate of a few million is probably somewhere near accurate...
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 12:55 PM
2

I live right next to the woods. I'm in them daily. I encounter bears at least once a week, more during their peak acorn foraging season. The same can likely be said for my entire region of the United States. So that's at least a few million people encountering bears on a semi-regular basis.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 12:53 PM
10

My point is that we are all operating from a completely different visual when this question is presented. Which renders the question entirely useless...unless it's a question designed for exploring schemas and personal biases. Then it's pretty useful. My personal bias in this scenario is "I have to shoo away black bears every time I go to take the trash out." Yours is "humans would probably only be on trails anyway, so it's pointless to consider a more extreme variation where they aren't on one.…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 12:42 PM
4

But again, you're working from an assumption of a trail which has never been explicitly stated as present in the hypothetical. So flip that around: you're in the middle of the woods. An isolated part that doesn't see much human travel. You come across a bear: in its habitat, not necessarily food-conditioned, an entirely expected element of being out in the middle of the forest away from civilization. Or you could across a man: away from trails, away from a man's typical environment, clearly not …
/r/PurplePillDebate26/11/25 12:39 PM
24

I have never seen the question specify "on a trail." Only "in the woods." You seem to have added the trail element yourself. And as a person who frequently has black bears in my yard, I'll say this for the 10000th time: the species of bear makes a huge difference. When someone says "bear," black bear is the first thing I envision, and I'd have no problem running into one of those guys. It happens frequently because these bears have become very accustomed to humans. Their behavior around people i…

I do sometimes worry that I might have missed the boat. It took me a long time to build up enough self-esteem to start dating...unfortunately too long. Being on this sub has taught me just how much men hate older women, so now that I've finally started, I'm not expecting much (or any) success. At least there's still a vast, complex world to experience regardless of whether I find a guy or not, so I wouldn't say it's a deep regret. It just would have been nice, maybe.

What style of BBQ sauce? If it's vinegar or mustard based, yes it's superior. If it's tomato based, it's just glorified ketchup with extra steps, they're essentially interchangeable in terms of flavor profile. If it's mayo based/white BBQ sauce, that's sociopathic.

/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 04:23 PM

I am convinced it really is a cultural thing I see women blasting men for living with their parents beyond a certain age, meanwhile in my community it's completely normal and sometimes even expected to remain at home as an unmarried adult
/r/PurplePillDebate14/11/25 04:19 PM

Lots of the men I talk to on dating apps aren't close with their families. They're either estranged from them, or they visit them a few times a year and don't talk to them much outside of that. I come from a culture that emphasizes extended family connections so it always feels strange to me when someone says they never speak to their cousins, aunts, uncles, sometimes even their own parents or siblings...it sounds lonely.

Yeah, the difference is pretty interesting. WWII is presented as having moral framework/binary lens, so I think that attracts black-and-white thinkers who don't want to get too deep into analysis. In popular culture, it's usually discussed in terms of heroic masculinity. It's not a war that confuses or disrupts their archetypes (lots of which are understandably seen as outdated now.) Other wars present more ethical discomfort, and men who favor clarity/rigidity/hierarchy are unlikely to explore …

In my experience: WW2 boys are more likely to lack depth and have rigid/simplistic understandings of otherwise complex systems. They're also more trusting of narratives provided by the authority they follow. WW1 and Civil War boys seem to have a deeper willingness to examine nuance, as well as a willingness to engage with the sorrow/pain/grief of historical subjects. They also seem to have more healthy skepticism. Revolutionary War boys are...a mixed bag. Either pretty cool intellectuals or over…

On one hand, my predisposition to give every man a chance is exhausting and I am worried I cannot continue to function in this way. I'm not arguing that exercise is bad. I know it's quite beneficial. I mean that men who frequent the gym and prioritize workouts/fitness will undoubtedly categorize me as a "landwhale" and want nothing to do with me, so I'd rather not open the door to interact with them on dating apps and such. I've been around the internet long enough to see how they talk about women who aren't beautiful and slim with ideal waist ratios. I'm a realist about these things.

The primary reason I don't date guys who go to the gym is that I assume these image issues will leak out and begin to impact his feelings towards my body. If he doesn't like his own body, he certainly won't be capable of liking mine with all of its flaws and issues.

This kind of hopeful future is what would help more than anything, the rest, would fix itself, part of what turns everything so awful for everyone is the disconnect between propaganda and reality, if we have an alternative to propaganda, a lot should solve itself." - we're in complete …

What kind of actual care do you think would be most beneficial? Financial support? Measures to strengthen the economy? More robust/accessible likeminded communities? Measures supporting nuclear family structure? A return to traditional gender roles and a reinvigoration of male purpose? Is it something you want to see enacted/enforced by the government like a type of welfare system, or do you envision a movement led by churches and charities? What's the mechanism facilitating the help?

It does make for a strange disconnect between what I see in real life versus what people here argue.

That seems to be the preference of most people! I have just never been particularly attracted to slim or fit men.

My limit is 2, but I'm most comfortable keeping it at 1. The timing rarely works out for that though.

The funny part of this perspective is that I won't have sex before marriage. I absolutely refuse to endure that degree of physical pain, humiliation, and vulnerability for a man outside the covenant of marriage. So if they do happen to be looking for a warm hole from me, they're going to have to be fairly patient.

Maybe it's because I live in the southeastern US, but I really haven't had that much trouble dating with a BMI of 27. Most of the guys I meet are more overweight than me. Maybe it's more of a problem in other parts of the country/world, but a lot of guys here just don't seem to care about my weight as much as would be expected. This sub in particular led me to believe I wouldn't successfully make any romantic connections. I've been pleasantly surprised by the reality.

Nothing says "I have it under control" quite like "I have to sneak out to consume alcohol so my significant other doesn't know I'm doing it"

Oh hey, I sort of did the same thing. In my case I just assumed nobody would ever want to be with me, so I spent my entire young adulthood talking about how much I wanted to be alone I'm finally dating now that I'm in my 30s. It's weird getting started this late.

people continuously prioritize looks over character and then be like "why does dating suck so much"

wanting children to starve because you don't like dinner dates is crazy

It's not talking your way into a date. It's getting to know the person you're considering dating. Asking about their interests, their passions, their values, etc. The idea being that an opening question facilitates this conversation with more ease. I can't imagine going on a date without having even one conversation.

The fact that you'd rather spend your life sneaking to a friend's house to drink than find a compatible woman is crazy

No the implication being that everyone here seems to be UMC urbanite straight individuals who somehow see the exact same dating dynamics displayed in every couple they encounter and who refuse to accept any possible deviations

I don't really see how that changes what I'm saying either. If they're all secretly hiding their super cool personalities, then that's a weird choice on their part and I don't care. They're not fun to talk to. The end.

They either seem to have nothing going on, or they say "I enjoy [hobby/interest] but I don't have time for it anymore." You can't even find a couple of hours a week to do something that adds texture and vibrancy to your life? For real? How are you gonna have time for a relationship if you can't even manage that much when you're on your own??

We're talking. They're asking me out. They're just lifeless, dull people and the conversation is not enjoyable.

People on dating apps are so fucking dull. No hobbies. No passions. No curiosity. No thoughts about anything. Not one fucking drop of whimsy anywhere in their lives.

I'm honest about what I like. I have no fucking idea what other women like, I don't care what other women like, and I don't understand why I am expected to accurately predict the desires of a bunch of strangers.
