I don't disagree but I think the point of that parent comment was that nowadays hypergamy/polyamory is getting attention and recognition that it maybe never had. My thoughts too. She spent an hour learning how to apologize for a betrayal of this magnitude. Even look at how soft her language is when it comes to her own actions. I assume that patriarchy means "rule by men" to use the basic definition. If all of our elected officials, union leaders, corporate executives, news anchors were men. If the husband/man of the household had his and his wife's income to spend at his discretion, whether there was a law enforcing that or not. If women did not hold intellectual significance in society. I think that would be a solid foundation for a patriarchy.

I would say men and women both get "raw deals" in society, but this sub serves (IMO) as an important outlet for current events (13 girl conspiracy that got a kid arrested, who is still in jail and a judge reprimanding a man for hitting a woman "no matter the context") and social issues (child custody and domestic violence) regarding men getting the short end. Women get shafted as well; but I tend to see pro-female issues on more mainstream media (abortion, rape, body positivity etc).
