Don't forget the wooden shoes, windmills, and tulips! (BTW, I'm in Switzerland, but my friends and family back in the US think it's located where Sweden or Norway is.)

Your pets like him. My cats hated my ex, but they love my (now) husband. He's now their "papa" and is so good with them, I forget that I had them first.

My parents went on dates semi-regularly during their 62 year marriage, even while having 8 kids. They even held hands as they walked from the car to the supermarket. My mom and dad both did a million tiny things every day to show love and affection (like warming up the car in winter, buying the other's favorite snacks, saving part of the crossword puzzle, etc.) And I married a man who does the same for me (and I for him). Romance and affection are always important, no matter how long you are tog…

It's worse in older versions. The sleeping princess is sometimes raped and gives birth while asleep. In one version, she wakes up after giving birth to twins because one twin sucks her finger which pulls the enchanted flax out. (So her child saves her instead of the prince who rapes her.)

I agree! Especially if there's an agreed upon timeline. I have only lived with 1 partner. We dated for about half a year, moved in together, moved internationally together, got engaged around the 2.5 year mark, and are now legally married and waiting for relaxed Covid restrictions for a ceremony.

My cats HATED my ex and they never hated anyone before or since, not even vets. I should have taken the hint. The cats LOVE my husband to bits, though. One even prefers him over me now. My husband helps with medical care, cleans their boxes every day, has taken buses for over an hour just to see a vet, snuggles and plays with them all the time, and has spent thousands of dollars with me on them.

It's great here on the outside! I live in Europe and am LOVING IT! I'll never go back to live in the US.

When I said "depending on age" I meant 5 years in the context of around 20 years old. 22-23 is a bit young to get married in my opinion.

Depending on age (because you should wait until mid 20's at least), a man should know if he wants to marry you within 5 years, preferably 2-3. (Engagement under 1.5 years seems stupid to me since you need more time to vet.) My fiance and I talked about goals right when we got together. We talked seriously about marriage 1.5 years in. We got engaged 2.5 years in. Now at 3.5 years in, we are waiting to move out of Korea to get married. (Korea won't legally marry 2 foreigners) We'll get legally mar…

It's always important to know your value and not accept shit treatment. Then again I have met many men like him in Spain, Germany, France, and Switzerland.

Thanks! I would definitely say I'm the exception and not the rule. We were friends for several months before dating and he already had a stamp of approval from my girl friends. He always treated men and women equally, treated staff respectfully, and was perfectly content to cook and clean gor himself and others. Our first date he cooked me a steak dinner with all the trimmings, cleaned up as I sipped wine, and he bought me ice cream as we walked around the nearby lake after dinner. My cats love …

Lots. But only in Western Europe. When I told stories to my fiance of American men, he was shocked. He's used to women bring sexually free, but also strong and refusing take shit from men. A scrot in the UK or Germany will be lucky to only get cussed out and not punched. I had to relearn a lot of behaviors and expectations when living in Europe. My fiance and I budget together, map out which rooms we clean, and each cook 3 times a week (ordering takeout, eating out, or eating leftovers once a we…

It can work. But I think with mostly European men because they are (on average) less misogynistic. I asked out my fiance 3.5 years ago. But he is the kind of man that never assumed I'd take his name. He asked me if I wanted his name, hyphenated name, keep mine, or he takes mine. Since we are settling in his home country, I decided to take his name since it'll help me socially and to assimilate.

My fiance and I had a couple condoms break on us throughout our 3.5 years together. I was on the pill anyway, but we had to stop and make sure all the pieces were accounted for. We know certain brands/sizes/lube work better for us, but even then we've had accidents. HOWEVER, we make sure we have backup birth control (pill) and he always checks to make sure I'm okay first (worried about a piece stuck inside that can cause health problems).

thus "ruining" her for other men. She would always be tied to him via the baby, who he probably doesn't support, and then other men will stay away from her (at least for serious relationships). Perhaps it's the way a LV man marks his territory like a dog peeing on a tree.

Nice! Fiance asks me what I'd like from the store (besides the list) and I say "nothing." But then he still buys me chocolate, ice cream, hard lemonade, wine, or any other goodie he thought I would like. And I do the exact same for him.

Me too! Thankfully I had a HV dad that set high standards for me. Otherwise, I would have been a total pickmesha, especially since I come from a Christian mid-west community.

I have always expected men to treat me the same as I treat them. When they are sick, I'll take care of them. When I'm sick, they need to take care of me. When I had surgery, my fiance went with me to the city, stayed in a crappy hotel because it was the closest, visited me every day all day long to sit by my bedside, he would send texts before each visit to ask what I'd like him to bring me, and did all the cooking, cleaning, and cat care until I felt better. (Then we went back to 50/50.) Now I …

I've known one woman like that. She's happily married to her high school sweetheart and has two kids. She's still incredibly dependent because of her lack of common sense. Thankfully she found an amazing man who has encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone while providing a safety net. He's an involved father and reliable partner/friend. But that's only 1 woman against countless manchilds (manchildren?)

There is a reason my parents were married for over 60 years until they died. My dad knew often made my doctors appointments and took me to them. My dad would take me places while doing errands (and take his time), so my mom could relax at home alone. He was a very involved parent, helping with homework, going to parent-teacher conferences, getting me ready in the morning because mom would put me to bed. My mom did most of the cooking and cleaning, but my dad did the yard work, gardening, snow sh…

My LV ex hated my two cats and they hated him. I should have taken that as a sign. My current HV fiance LOVES the cats and they love him. He's actually stolen the heart of one them and I'm a bit jealous. He has done 50/50 with cat care, vet bills, etc. ever since he moved in with us. He calls them his "boys", "babies", etc. He has researched cat behavior, cat needs and is always trying to find new ways to keep them happy, comfortable, stimulated, etc. When we move in a couple of months, he plans…

Oh no! Thank you for the comment! It was spot-on! I never wanted to suggest a woman go to a strange man's house a town away! By the time we started dating we had been meeting up ahead once a week with friends, he had been to my house parties, and received the seal of approval from my cats!

Question: can a man enter the car if he's with his daughters and afraid for their safety?

Not OP, but my bf (now fiance) were dating in a country I didn't have citizenship in. We didn't want to get married just for a visa, so we decided to move internationally where we could both live and work while we test out the relationship (had been dating less than a year at the time). I asked him to move in with me so we could test out living together before moving internationally with my two cats. It worked out well and we moved internationally. A year after we moved we were engaged. Now we'r…

There are new tests that just require a blood sample from the mother and you can get the baby's DNA for paternity, gender, and any medical issues.

Even if the video isn't accurate for this particular man, the idea is still valid. If he wanted to he would: groom himself, cook, clean, care for children/pets, etc.

The friends were the worst! If they had her back, even once, she might have left that abusive loser. Instead, they always take his side. They mocked her after she gave them hundreds of dollars of presents. The woman almost made her lose her job by messing with her phone right after Andie gave her an almost $2,000 bag. She was successful, she was moving up, and she was growing as person. Then she left it all for a man chasing his dreams. As if a chef has good hours. He'll never be home, bring les…

I love the term hobosexual. I've never heard it before. I wish I had known the term while two of my sisters were dating them. A memorable one was so controlling and abusive to my nephew that my dad paid him several thousand dollars to leave his daughter and never come back. To his credit, nobody ever saw him again. But then again... more likely his fat-ass died of a heart attack or suckered a women who had more money. Boy, were my some of my sister good examples of what NOT to do.

I'm the same. I had an amazing example in my parents' relationship and thought that was normal. Thankfully I found a HVM that works with me in a relationship even better than my parents' good example. (To be fair, my dad had a lot of PTSD issues he had to work through and both had to move past their own raising in a conservative, racist, homo-phobic, sexist era.)

I love your edit! Both women and men should be happy enough with themselves to be able to be alone. It's ALWAYS better (especially for women!) to be alone rather than a LV relationship. It's less work, less stress, and more freedom. Focus on your happiness and self-care. If a HVM comes along, so be it. But NEVER stand for less than an equal partnership based on mutual love, respect, and communication.

My HVM fiance and I were talking seriously about marriage, kids, expectations, etc. close to the 1 year mark. We got engaged around year 2. We are now waiting until after Covid to have the ceremony, but will sign the legal papers around the 3.5 year mark. No games, honest communication, and compromise on both sides. (He got off work early today and is now cleaning the apartment and after going grocery shopping. I'm going to pick up pizza on the way home for dinner. <3 )

My fiance knew that I wanted to pick out my own ring (since I would be the one wearing it everyday), so he had a cheap stand-in cz solitaire. (I now use that ring for when I travel, hike, etc.) He had taken months slowly sussing out my preferences for a proposal: look at this video... what do you think of this proposal... would your dad want me to ask for his blessing? Then he went with what I preferred: a private proposal full of love. No asking for my hand. I made my own custom design for a ri…

Oof. I'm from the Midwest. There are so many things I thought were normal until my fiance (then bf) looked at me like I was crazy. (Things like checking under your car and in your backseat before getting in.)

Omg! I can't even imagine! Which country was this? (Probably the US... my British fiance is constantly shocked by how agressive and rapey American men are. If a man in Britain pulled half the shit American men do, he'd have a bunch of men and women ready to knock him out.)

Not just financial independence. We have sexual independence (largely thanks to devices and able to be gay/bi publicly). We also have reproductive independence since there are sperm banks/ adoption agencies if you want children without the man.
