I working at a nuclear power plant at the moment and I agree somewhat. You can mostly focus on skill building and bring home $200k but the guys higher up are the biggest bag lickers I've ever met and we regularly get roll outs of diversity powerpoints and job postings for anybody thats not a white male.

Look up mindfulness. It helped me realize you can't rationalize yourself out of depression. You just go deeper into the hole and follow those negative emotions. You need to be aware when you're having those thoughts and stop entertaining them. Go for a walk or do something else. Take your mind off that. There's lots of good recommendations in this thread but they're not going to change how you think. Just remember "Wherever you go. There you are."

A lot of the time you're away from your home and your family. It's hard on your body and you can be working 7 days a week and 12+ hours a day for weeks or months. It can be really good money and drugs and alcohol get involved. Not every one can handle it and guys have a hard time reaching out for help sometimes.

Any recommendations on translation? I tried reading the Jarvis translation years ago but put it down.

People on both sides of the politically spectrum lie. I believe that happens but it's the mental gymnastics that is the difference. Do you think those women actually believe it's rape or they are just taking advantage of the situation? The conservative religious women that lie about rape know they're lying, while on the other hand, the feminists have themselves 100% convinced its real rape.

A lot of people don't like talking about their job or their family, especially if they dont know you. Another method I've read is using the HEFE method. Hobbies, Entertainment, Food, and Environment. Just a few more ideas to get people talking.

My buddy called me up one time because he was dying of laughter. His girlfriend at the time told him, with a straight face, that she hates guys with tattoos and piercings. He is covered in tattoos and piercings. Bitch, what?

Yep. If you're interested in reading about it you could read The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt. He was on Joe Rogan about a month ago too if you wanna see what he's about before dedicating to a book.

Absolutely. Things like welfare assisting people vs. nurturing dependence and taxes, property rights, wealth, religion, family ties, immigration, etc. It depends on if you want to see the best in people vs. people taking advantage everything they can every step of the way.

The best description I ever heard of the difference between liberals and conservatives is that overall liberals believe people are inherently good and conservatives believe we are all inherently bad. There's lots of research into this and the more you look into it the more it makes sense.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
