How many more times do I have to state that I already did it? Seems like you are so hard and fast trying to prove you are right that you have forgotten about reality? I am not going to be so dumb as to share private financial information on this kind of forum, so the rest of y’all, just ask your mortgage companies rather than trusting this very very irate person on a subreddit 🙄

Um. If you read my comment properly, you will see that I am talking from my personal experience. My loan originated from a reputable lender (credit union), in 2021, and was a standard loan. I was also a child in the 80s and was highly unlikely to be either motivated to, or eligible for, said loan. Dont judge so aggressively…man.

Sure there is a way to do this. It’s called a “loan assumption” and only some loans allow it. Process is long winded but much much cheaper than refinancing at current interest rates. And no, I am not referencing “so and sos cousins uncle”. It worked for me, personally. I paid my ex out of their share of the equity, and assumed the entire loan.
