Primary care docs started writing a ton of antidepressants during covid, and most likely still are. As someone mentioned, therapy will also help and can be done in conjunction with antidepressants. Wellbutrin (buproprion) works differently than SSRIs and doesn't have the side effects that they do.

Maybe he's got 10 kids? 🤣 Seriously though, old navy has swim suits for like $15 all the damn time. $200 is waaaay too much

She's going to owe you alimony. Don't sign a damn thing and start talking to attorneys.

With a 4 month old, any chance it's post partum related?

I didn't read beyond your first two sentences because either one alone is enough to get divorced. She is a bad person. Full stop. Get divorced, get therapy for you and your child and build a better life for yourself!

Why are you directing your time/energy/money to two kids who aren't yours? Especially since you are rebuilding your life? I realize that's a harsh thing to say and that you have a relationship with them, but we all have finite resources.

Not only should she be paying you child support, but you're probably entitled to alimony since she makes significantly more than you. Make sure you hold that over her head if she tries to go away from 50/50

You should look at the cost of renting vs buying. By me, rent would be the same as a mortgage BUT (and it's a big but) that includes putting a decent chunk of cash as a down payment. Also, is there a chance she would try and move away? Harder to do if the kids are already established in school, but easier if they're little and she comes up with a reason to move.

If her businesses are registered as an LLC or Corp, commingling business and personal funds is a big no no. If the businesses aren't set up as LLCs or corps, you're exposing yourself to a potential HUGE liability. Either way, it looks like you're going to be paying a lot to an accountant to untangle everything. Also, are you filing a joint tax return? If so, you should be examining her income. You may also qualify for battered spouse tax status if you can prove she was doing shady stuff and hidi…

Is she taking you back to court over this? I would carefully document all of the expenses that you are currently paying for that are child related. Also, don't pay (her) above the court mandated amount. You both have well paying jobs. If they both offer low cost health insurance, the kids should be on both policies. If you don't both have insurance, then whoever pays gets a credit against their obligation. Most states have online calculators that should be able to spit out a decent estimate of w…

When my parents divorced, my father moved into a one bedroom apartment and slept on the sofa when I stayed with him. Even with a daughter, that same scenario should be feasible for you as well.

Step 1 is to set up a bank account in your name only and drivert most or at least half of your paycheck to that. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HIDE THESE FUNDS DURING THE DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS. But you are entitled to your own account and to fund it.

Just a heads up, and I'll preface this with 50/50 custody is totally worth it, but this is going to cost you a fuck ton of money. Minimum of $10k and more likely 20-25k.

As long as you're giving 100% while you're with your child, you shouldn't feel guilt or be hard on yourself. Being away from your child is an unfortunate part of divorce, but you should maximize your free time.

It's my understanding that most states have a child support calculator where everything is keyed in and spits out a number. If only alimony were that straight forward 🙄 But it does make sense that you would pay child support since there is so much disparity between your incomes. Something to keep in mind is that health insurance premiums for your child should be deducted from the child support due.

Most attorneys will give you a 15 to 30 minute consult. You should be able to gauge what your obligations are from those consults. Child support is often a formula whereas alimony is more nuanced (at least in my state). And you absolutely can and should have one look everything over before you sign. Your wife should too

How could she even afford to buy you out?? Who is going to give her a loan for 100 grand?

Definitely stick it out for the pension and try for at least a decade of spousal support. The estimate should be for 20-25% of the difference between your incomes.

Surprised therapy wasn't mentioned. Talking to a neutral third party really helped me.

My daughter attended Pre-K at the public elementary school. The school district administered the program and the staff were district employees. This was very much part of the school.

Unless you brought the debt into your marriage (which doesn't seem to be the case) she is equally responsible for it since it was incurred during the marriage. Student loans might be treated differently though. You should probably seek restitution from her for her half. You should pursue fifty fifty custody, have your mother sign a statement or give testimony she's agreeable to let your child stay at her place with you until you get your own place. Seek free consults with attorneys who will at l…

Only three years together, no kids and ping ponging thousands of miles during those three years? Stop talking to her, get the divorce finalized and then block her and her family. Figure out where you want to live and start your new life. After you allow enough time for yourself up heal, find someone new and start the next chapter.

Why don't you go for permanent full custody with her getting only supervised visitation? Your kids are old enough, can't they say they want to live with you?

If the mortgage is in your name only she'll need to refinance it in her name, unless the mortgage is assumable (very unlikely) If the primary residence was purchased prior to the marriage then your equity stake would be half of the appreciation while you were married. If it was purchased during the marriage your equity would be 50% of the total value. Same for the rental property. So depending on the values of the two properties, it becomes a math exercise. I'd recommend having both of them prof…
