Been hearing this rumor daily since before the trial ended. Still calling BS.

Yeah the trial opened a lot of people's eyes. Prior to that, it was mostly men who supported him, near as I can tell. Newsweek found that nearly all tweets prior to the trial were in favor of Heard, and during the trial they were in favor of Depp. This trial is a great victory for male domestic violence victims. Maybe next we'll be able to open support centers and shelters for men without feminists getting them shut down...

Famous feminists tend to support her. They don't give a shit about domestic violence, they just hate men. By that logic, it doesn't make sense for them to support male victims.

Honestly reminds me of the people who felt their marriage was tainted because gay people could get married and that ruined the whole thing for them.

In most cases I tend to agree. In this case, I want to watch the movie but I'm having a hard time supporting it. If they're willing to remove her at this late juncture, I can feel a lot better about paying to see the movie.

It really depends. Twitter is already owned by rich people, so the question is if one rich person who is supposedly a free speech advocate is worse than several rich people who are not. If he's being honest, which we can't really say yet, it'll be a good thing. If not, then it's a bad thing. Note that the people who are rage quitting or demanding government intervention are the same ones who have spent the last few years deliberately misinterpreting the term "freedom of speech" to excuse ongoing…

Here's something. Right now, trans people are at the top of the oppression list. That gives you a lot of influence on the left, particularly among feminists, the most powerful group of activists in the world. You might have seen the recent post by a trans man who was talking about the culture shock of learning that women were now afraid of him. Because of who it came from, I've seen feminists taking it seriously where they'd usually respond to men a lot more viciously. "Oh you hate every woman a…

Would be nice if a majority of feminists tore the crazier minority apart, but it doesn't happen. Up until 2016 or so I did my best but I ran into the insanity so often that I gave up and no longer consider myself a feminist.

I respect the attempt. Really, I do. By making that assumption and attempting a psychological profile, you're putting yourself out on a limb and if you're wrong you have to either say "whoops" or "I'm wrong but I won't admit it." Unfortunately, you're wrong. I am sadly a wholly uninteresting, gun-toting, pro-LGBT, anti-religious, and most importantly anti-moron libleft. We don't require parents to be parents. Our society would far rather place restrictions on everyone than on parents alone, and that lack of consequences for their actions has trained them to be AFK parents. Example: school shootings. 84% of shooters get their weapons from home and those weapons were nearly always completely unsecured. But we don't prosecute the parents of those shooters, we give them sympathy because apparently not realizing their child was psychotic and giving them easy access …

Doesn't change my point. If the teams are feeling particularly woke, they can hire some women as a nice nod to affirmative action and deal with the worse performance. If not, cool. Turns out men are more interesting to watch, who knew?

This kind of attitude is why people hate feminists. There's no winning, if you make half of feminists happy the other half hate you. Or when it comes to certain prominent feminists like Jessica Valenti, they'll hate you no matter what you do. Catcall her? Sexist. Don't catcall her? Sexist. Like air conditioning? Sexist. Nope, I'm saying that everything God does or says is by definition divine. He's also able to perfectly predict the future, which is only possible if he's involved in everything to the slightest detail. If he causes millions of fetuses to be aborted every year, I don't see the issue with me doing the same.

An unjust law doesn't become just because you're worried about people hypothetically abusing it. There needs to be nuance to laws like this, or we end up with teenagers going to prison for taking nude photos of themselves. It's possible to protect victims while allowing people the right to fuck themselves over in whatever way they choose, and it's very practical if it's done incrementally, with evaluation following each change or exception.
/r/PussyPassDenied16/12/20 03:16 AM
1

I can get behind prosecuting the people who bought it simply because there's not a lot of nuance in the way those laws are written. But you can't victimize yourself, so there's no reason she should be punished. It does happen though, a number of teenagers have been prosecuted for having their own nudes on their phones because it qualifies as possession of child porn. The problem is there's no nuance in those laws because most people aren't interested in anything other than the harshest, most bla…

Fact checkers have done a decent job explaining the wage gap and it mostly comes down to experience and hours worked. Hour for hour with the same experience in the same job there's still a small wage gap that isn't really explained, but I imagine some of that is the fact that women are less likely to negotiate pay raises.

It's difficult to explain if you weren't in the military. Upper leadership actively works to try to break up "good old boys clubs" but it's not enough because soldiers are clannish by nature. There's also a prevailing belief that women don't belong in the military, which isn't helped by the fact that their physical fitness requirements are much lower than men's. There's a resentment there. It's gotten a bit better over time but the sexual assault rate in the military is shockingly high and a lot…

It's when someone carries you for a dungeon or quest or even an entire powerlevel. The funny thing about those subs is there have been a lot of them that follow the fragile[demographic]redditor naming scheme and only two haven't been banned: r/fragilemaleredditor and r/fragilewhiteredditor. You're comparing two very different things. She was an adult, for one. The encounter was also consensual on her end and didn't always involve sex. A 19-year-old drugging men to rob them is not remotely similar to a 15-year-old boy robbing a pedophile who intends to rape him. This isn't understandable. This is drugging men, robbing them, th…

I used to say this exact same thing. Feminists haven't exactly done anything to discredit those who are using their name, though. Julie Bindel is a literal feminazi and I see her plastered everywhere. A movement is defined by its leaders and their views, and as long as those are the worst members of the group, that's how people will see it.

This is a pretty good example of how echo chambers can taint your perspective on broader opinions. I'm in several subs that talk about this constantly, and if those were the only places I spent time in I'd assume everyone was talking about it. But if you spend time in subs or sites across the political spectrum, it becomes clear that most people are indeed staying pretty quiet on the matter.

Her implication is that women are terrified and oppressed in normal society and would be much freer without men around. I imagine feminists who replied had stereotypical lines like "make $1 instead of 84 cents," and "not be afraid of sexual assault" and similar regurgitated stances.

I love the "internalized misogyny" bit. There's a very strong implication that those women aren't capable of thinking for themselves and are easily manipulated by men, so they need feminists to tell them the proper way of thinking. Kind of the opposite of what feminism is supposed to be.

So far, no consequences. This clickbait article is not true. No one at the studio has actually said anything about it, to my knowledge. At best, he can hope for a successful defamation lawsuit. The problem is the most tenacious, vocal, and organized community on social media are feminists. I'm sure there are plenty of feminists who support him, but I don't think we'll see enough support from them to make the difference. Long, long story, but the short version is she physically and emotionally abused him, then publicly claimed he abused her. He lost his role as Jack Sparrow, nearly lost his role as Grindelwald, and got a lot of hate for it. Guess eventually he got sick of it and started releasing evidence that proves she's, in the politest terms, a fucking psychopath. On the off chance anyone here hasn't seen this a few dozen times, a quick summary: as part of Google's pay equality efforts, they found that (also as part of a pay equality effort) one of the managers was using discretionary funds to give more pay raises to women over men. They adjusted the wages and I think they paid back pay but said it was ok that the manager did so.

Honestly, as far as money goes I figure you're a success if you can handle your expenses without too much stress. The rest of the definition comes from how happy you are, and what makes people happy varies wildly from person to person. If you're happy, you're successful.

My personal comparison is "if everyone in my profession died today, how quickly would the world turn to shit?" But everyone has their own idea of what's important and why. I didn't say she didn't. And she's a terrible person who doesn't know when to shut the fuck up for the good of her party. But Trump has zero morals, too.
