Correct. It is a major issue. Companies have to hire according to quotas - they call it BEE (aka Positive Discrimination). Agreed it does not. But in reality the court still uses a "income share" model, even though in theory each parent should maintain the child's living standard on their own. So in practice if one parent is not able to maintain the child's living standards, the court will award child support to the primary custodial parent. Even if custody is 50/50.

Equal custody does not mean one parent does not pay child support. I got equal custody after a 3 year court battle, yet still had to pay child support to the ex.

Yes. I have a son and 2 daughters. I have had my share of dealing with gender and racial issues (and relationship and marital issues). I did not fight every issue, often I would simply give advice and/or guidance on how to deal with an issue. Sometimes they must deal with it themselves. It depends on the child's age (emotional maturity), and on the issue.

I also agree that you, the parent, should make the decision. However I understand your reticence. While it is very important to keep your kids talking to you through their teenage years (good luck with that), you must also make them understand that you have responsibilities as a parent. They must also trust you to do the right thing when necessary. In this case you should make an issue of it, otherwise the problem will get worse.

My suggestion: Start a Human Rights club, in which you discuss rights issues of all people - Men, Women, 5 yo boys, whites, coloreds, etc. This way you can hopefully get all people to understand and have empathy with the issues that all the groups face. I don't greet people first. I wait for them to do it, then I respond with a simple "hello". Where I work things have gotten too risky, they now has a zero tolerance policy (against violence and harassment of females). There are too many cultures, races, religions, sexes - too many social rules to keep track off. It is too easy to offend someone. Women are openly and severely misandrist here.
