You can get herpes from drinking another persons drink. That’s not “hoeing” at all.

Exactly. Some of the common STI aren’t even a big deal if you treat it quick enough. That being said, if you’re having sex amongst many people it’s smart to get tested regularly, for your safety and your sexual partners. I don’t want people to think I’m saying STI aren’t harmful, I just think there is a lot stigma around them.

Okay well this is pointless so take care bud. Stay out of the rain and most public discourse if you can.

The fact you compared to society to crack heads is all I needed. Lol. Also I never argued people shouldn’t try to think rationally before getting married. But thinking rationally doesn’t mean there needs to be so measurable benefit for them to get married rationally. I have a whole thing about holidays but I don’t think it’s worth bringing up.

Holy shit. You’re actually cringe. Like the definition. “Marriage isn’t necessary for intimacy.” No shit. I agree and I think most people do. But, there is an emotional feeling that is hard to explain, and varies from person to person. It is so simple. It make people feel good. That’s it. Period. If you want to discount that experience then go ahead. But that’s cringe.

You’re understanding of emotions is so painfully basic that I’ve been officially triggered. There are many things that we push as a society that isn’t rational. Concepts like love are irrational. That’s doesn’t mean it lacks utility. Holidays are important for no rational reason, but we all enjoy them. Just because something is irrational doesn’t mean it lacks utility. Again, as I’ve stated, emotions are very rational. Every signal person has an internalized rationality that explains why we feel…

If you were emotionally matured, you’d realize that some people get an emotional benefit form marriage that is hard to measure but you are personally so against marriage that you project your own beliefs on the whole world. That’s what’s cringe.

Omg. Thank you for saying this. The amount of people in these comments talking about herpes and other benign STIs as if it is syphilis was triggering me.

The fact that some of you are scared of herpes is some of the funniest shit. Wait until you find out how much of the population actually has it.

Vagesty? Seems pretty Misogynistic. Cringe.

I agree with you rationally but most people don’t look at marriage rationally. You can’t deny the cultural significance of marriage and why it has meant to society. Yes marriage really isn’t the “next step” but people view it that way, so when some who does believe marriage is the next step and gets married, it makes them feel good. Subjective experience are also very hard to measure because emotions are hard to measure. Also this whole “people need to stop feeling and use there brain” is the mo…

And to clarify when I say dating I mean LTR.

What marriage brings to SOME people lives is a very subjective experience. This isn’t universal, and to degrees, I think this is more of a traditional mindset that is slowly going out of style. What marriage gives really depends on the individuals. We can’t pretend like culturally marriage hasn’t meant something more than dating. It has always been the next step, and simply getting to that “next step” with someone can feel good and fulfilling. Now personally, I’m 22 and I don’t think there is mu…

These aren’t universal or exclusive to women in any way. This could go for men as well. I reject this flimsy list.

Are you suggesting that you don’t think there is any meaningful difference between dating someone and marrying someone? If your answer is no then we are just going to disagree.

Idk if you think you made some profound point but lol.

Imagine just not engaging with my points. My answer to your question is that I don’t think there is any exclusive benefit to men.

It literally just depends on the man. You’re looking for some catch all answer but there isn’t one. Different people get different things out of marriage.

Historically, men benefit from marriage through having someone to primarily take care of the children while they work. There’s one example. But you question is stupid because not all marriages are the same. I don’t think there’s any exclusive benefits to women or men in marriage.

I don’t even understand your point. Are you saying men shouldn’t get married because they don’t get any exclusive benefits from marriage? What exclusive benefits do women get?

Your observations aren’t above empirical evidence lol. And yes. If men are getting better at moving on then that’s good. But that isn’t what’s happening. Benefits from marriage are super subjective. But, let’s assume there is no benefit from marriage for men. Why are men getting married then? The benefit isn’t necessarily some measurable thing. Often it’s just a feeling of mowing you have a life partner.

Do you want to expand on that very controversial statement?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/21 11:48 PM

Wait. Are we against marriage around here? Also I never said men benefit from marriage. I think they do but I don’t know if you can measure that empirically. And all the studies I’ve looked at suggest that you’re wrong on men being able to move on faster. That being said, maybe I haven’t read up on newer stuff.

There are a lot of studies that suggest men have a very rough time with break ups and divorce because men do not create very intimate social circle as women do.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
