Goddamn this makes me want Vasalgel ASAP. Or perhaps I should just get snipped... Not really my favorite option.

Women recycle more? Surely that depends more on where you live, because in many European countries - including the one I live - everyone recycles. Some more than others.

I wonder why it's only ever rather hot women we see for these crimes. Surely there are just as many batshit ugly ones doing the same crimes, or am I mistaken? Is this just how it is? Or is this simply a perception created by media bias?

And since many children are also raised by mothers, the implication would be that mothers also teach their children to see women as sex objects. Court dismissed!

Personally I don't care what their motives are behind it as long as the end result is good. Seems very well balanced to me. It's also clearly not an MRA "echo chamber", which can also be good. Dispite my strong convictions, it's good to hear other perspectives now and then.

Found this channel a few weeks ago and it's frequently updated and has a great collection of videos, debates and interviews, very often about fathers and men's rights, or social discussions etc. I really recommend visiting it. What I find refreshing about it, is how non-hostile it is. And although I love a good heated debate as much as the next person, this feels more approacheable to the mainstream. I've actually given it to a few feminist friends who I know would freak out if I quoted a bunch …

Interesting that it's finally in a mainstream outlet like The Telegraph. If they keep that up, I might have to give them a second chance!

That's an unfair generalization. You don't know anything about their personal situation. I live pretty close to the Netherlands and know some prostitutes there are very open and even proud of their work. There have been some interesting documentaries on it. Dutch women in general are very social, enthousiastic, and sex is far less of a taboo. And some women love it so much that they make a living out of it. Many also think they are doing a service to society, as often less attractive men, social…

It just takes time for that sort of thing to reach public awareness. Not everyone is as involved in these issues as we are. Most people have barely even heard that men have any issues aside from "not being able to talk about our feelings". Patience.

What does sexual preference have to do with this? It's about legal rights and double standards. Although I suppose you could argue that gay men are able to talk more about gender issues than straight men do. There's nothing worse than being a white straight male trying to hold a productive conversation with feminists. They will just dismiss everything you say, but accept the exact same words from the mouth of a woman. Most people here consider ourselves egalitarians and men's rights activists. N…

Oh it takes far less for you to get banned there. This quote is what got me banned :-) CDC summary in american journal of public health may 2007: Almost 24% of all relationships had some level of violence, half of those relationships involved just one of the partners being violent, the other half were reciprical violent. In relationships in which violence was perpretrated by just one person, over 70% of that was committed by the woman. In all relationships in that perticular study, more than 7 o…

Many of the third wave feminist "issues" are things that might deserve attention, but frankly when compared to the long list of far more serious and urgent men's issues, they seem rather trivial and rediculous. I think MRA's and feminists would get along much better if men's issues even got 1/100th of the attention women's issues did. The simple fact is, noone really cares enough to even bother visiting an MRA website, because on subs like these they are told MRA's are a bunch of womanhating whi…

I havn't been on it recently, no. Probably a year ago now. There were some messed up things on it, mainly coming from PUA'ers. Just not really my thing. Scapegoat? I see it more as wakig up to the double standards in society that noone ever talks about. And I blame men for that just as much as I do women. But I'm probably what you would classify as a low level MGTOW and an MRA. I still date women quite frequently, actually. And I'm very open about my beliefs, which I don't think are in any way r…

Pretty sure if you're in a group named "I hate niggers", you're aware that might be slightly controversial :D (I follow Louis CK's view on the word here. I could censor it, but I'd still be making you say it in your head, so I might aswell say it myself) I'm generally not one for censorship either, but those groups were clearly created to push the limits and see if they could get away with it. It's a bit weird to say free speech should have limits, but I suppose it does.
/r/MensRights06/08/15 09:55 PM

That was actually very good. I'm surprised. It's things like these that slowly change the public perception. Thanks for sharing! That was refreshing. Sad, but refreshing.

This doesn't apply to /r/MensRights at all. Anyone who bothers to look at the sub knows there might be some speech some don't agree with, but not anything that might be deemed extremist. Which is precisely what drove most of us into sticking around here in the first place. If the MRM really was misogynistic, I wouldn't be here.

Is FGTOW similarily established? If so, what is the general "ideology"? Or is it just a different name for "strong empowered women"? :-)
/r/MensRights06/08/15 10:37 AM
1

I disagree. I think the MRM can accomplish quite a lot in the long term. In fact, I think it's unavoidable given how much I've seen the mainstream conversation change even just in the last two years. It's much harder for feminists to get away with their one-sided BS without someone commenting and at posting stats to the contrary. Criticism is essential, after all. The only thing I'm not sure of is who will get the credit. The way things are going it's likely feminists will simply evolve and take…

That's a very narrow view of MGTOW. Keep in mind there is no single ideology behind that "movement". It's basically just a bunch of guys who ended up making similar changes in life, for their own reasons. In an attempt to clasify themselves, MGTOW's have made some sort of leveling system. The lowest being guys like MRA's who still date but have basically swallowed the red pill, the highest being guys who are checking out completely. It's really not that black and white. But I understand the conf…
/r/MensRights06/08/15 10:28 AM

Well good. Because the two are rather interconnected. Most MRA's identify at least with the lower level MGTOW's, and the source of the problem is the same in both cases. It's merely the approach that differs.
/r/MensRights05/08/15 10:34 PM

I would much rather it comes from a recognized MRA we can all get behind than some fringe radical the feminists push forward. People like Karen Straughan and Paul Elam already have put their reputations on the line going against the flow. I'm sure they would relish the opportunity to take that to the next level and would see that as a reward of their efforts.

I agree. And even though the BBC doesn't have such a good track record when it comes to male issues, there are some rare exceptions. Hopefuly this is one of them.

Perhaps I should have spent some more time on this, but I wasn't really sure how serious this was. The negative comments on youtube just drove me to it. And to clarify I don't see AvfM as in any way negative. I merely meant that sometimes their approach lacks uhm... a diplomatic finesse? :-) Other than that I very much appreciate all the work they do to bring attention to these issues.

Sent him a message: Giving you the benefit of the doubt, you must understand there is a lot of scepticism given the way MRA's and other groups are portrayed in the media. A few MRA's you really should contact are Karen Straughan and Milo Yiannopoulos, who you probably already know. Those are two very prominent figures. A few other very popular names in the men's rights communities are Christina Hoff Sommers who has a very popular youtube channel, and dispite being a feminist (a different type of…

Makes you wonder how many men this sort of thing happens to who can't afford to defend themselves, let alone attempt to regain all the money they lost in court and damages of losing his job. The man's life is completely ruined by a messed up system. If it happened to me, I'd probably just have to plead guilty. I don't even bother typing anymore. Anyone who still repeats that nonsense isn't worth the effort. I just copy paste this: In every serious study, the wage gap between the entire male and female genders has been shown to not be systemic discrimination, but down to different choices and preferences. The wage gap comparison fails to take into account critical factors like education, career, specialized fields, parttime/fulltime, maternity leave, hours worked, asking for raises, etc. When a man and…

Hell... Nowadays even if I do use a condom, I don't cum inside. If you go soft after cumming it might slip off and stay behind. It's happened to me once. I got lucky. I also leave the condom on while I go to the bathroom, rince it out, and dispose of it. I'll never just tie one up and leave it in the trash, after hearing some horror stories of women desperately trying to get pregnant. Why take the chance? This was posted two days ago but failed to generate enough upvotes. Hopefuly this one will do better to gain better visibility. I'm a regular follower of Mike Buchanan's debates and tv/radio interviews, and was thrilled when he founded a political party with the main goal of raising awareness about issues men and boys face. That's a fundamental difference in communication between men and women, and one that's very prominent in these types of discussions. Women love to vent. Endlessly and pointlessly. They don't want solutions. They just want to be heard and understood, and don't really seem to care if their problems actually get dealt with. And if they do, they'll make up plenty others to fill that void. It reminds me of the book 'men are from mars, women from venus' that does a great job illustrating the female ne…

Christina Hoff Sommers just covered it: "Criminal sentencing: Do women get off easy?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usq-IHT5ARc Ironically, HuffPo collected a couple of studies a while back: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/11/men-women-prison-sentence-length-gender-gap_n_1874742.html But if you need a source, Christina Hoff Sommers is a pretty good one. I'm getting sick and tired of these double standards. Saw it on facebook earlier today and the comments of approval were just horrific. Just as barbaric as those applauding alleged rapists be beaten to death on an accusation alone. They fail to see how the exact same situation with a gender reversal would be seen as a horrific act... This is what the endless demonisation of men leads to. Fun fact: "Men serve on average 65% longer jail time for the exact same crime as a woman. And women are twice…

A couple of things, aside from the every day double standards that become more and more apparant in everyday life. Especially once I started actively dating. Stuff like paying for drinks/dinner, having to do all the effort and initiate and arrange everything, have to jump through hoops and shit tests, ... And there's all the stuff women write on their profile that would be seen as sexist if men did the same. Luckily I'm succesful enough in dating that I get to be picky about who I spend my time …

“Nearly one-third of college men admit they might rape a woman if they could get away with it,” Newsweek reported. Ugh... that was clearly only discussing rape FANTASY, which isn't the same as actual non-consensual rape at all. In fact, rape fantasy is the most common sexual fantasy among women. But you'd be an idiot to write an article suggesting those women actually want to be raped.

it is, but along with that are a large number of people like ourselves calling them out on their bullshit. (which back then I didn't do either) Even in 2013 and the start of 2014, that was unheard of. Not only that, but I notice my comments are getting a lot more likes and positive replies. We're not that far gone just yet. There are actually signs of improvement since 2014. People have finally started listening, and discussion is increasing. I think it's good that you're becoming more informed, but it's also important to remain level headed. It's easy to get frustrated and see things in a negative light when you first swallow the red pill. But that neither helps you or the issues at hand. That said, everyone is welcome here. Man if I recorded all the abuse I got throughout my progaming career back in the day... That would have made a great parody. To think both men and women take abuse. Men take much more. But apparantly only women assume it has anything to do with their gender. Grow a fucking shield. You're going to take abuse in life. And yet I live in Belgium and have heard nothing about this, nor have I ever seen an ad campaign that acknowledges male victims of domestic violence. In fact, the last week - I'm assuming in preperation for women's day - there was a constant stream of articles in Belgian papers highlighting domestic violence... against women. On Facebook, I commented on a number of those articles and got massive support from both men and women. And it reminds me that when I look at the discussions I've had with …

Okay this is probably the first mean thing I've said on this sub ever, but you really need to take that stick out of your arse. It was clearly a joke. Lighten up. The whole world makes jokes about American fatties. Just like you lot make fun of us English for bad dental hygiene and soccer. It's all in good fun. An excellent list. I'll be sure to look them all up and save them in my own little library. Always comes in handy in online discussions. I'm always surprised there aren't more of these comprehensive lists with generous sources out there. Someone should make a neutral website on men's issues that doesn't attack/blame feminism. That might be more useful in terms of raising awareness. I was about to suggest this should be a permanent sticky for visitors. Glad it already is!

A couple of the ones I often discuss are these: (excuse the lazy copy paste, but google them and you'll find plenty of sources, or just ask which ones you're interested in and I'll check the original file. There's a years worth of studies, articles etc in that, so...) Men are overrepresented in all the physically demanding & outdoors jobs, accounting for men representing over 96% of the serious workplaces injuries and fatalities. Disgusting... I've seen the same types of comments on similar articles on facebook. Many are completely unaware that male rape by women is even possible. Always thinking rape is someone violently holding another down and having their way with them. Which among women, is also one of the least common types of rape. Always with the double standards... really makes me sick.

Some people are just easily offended, or are so used to people changing their language around them that they forget what the real world is like. I prefer people who don't tip-toe around words and just speak their mind. And yeah I hate it when they bash each other. I see the same with MGTOW's and MRA's. Often on silly points aswell. Their gender does definitely make it easier for people who aren't familiar with men's issues to listen to them, especially if you're coming from feminist circles, such as myself at the time. It's easy to brand MRA's as a bunch of womanhaters and ignore what they have to say, but it's harder to do when that MRA is a woman. Over the past year I've seen a lot change in the narrative aswell, which makes me more optimistic about where things are heading. Then again, I am an optimist by nature, to perhaps I'm just being a bit naive. But 2014 definitely was a big game changer. A lot of men and women came to see feminism (or at least the most vocal and influencial parts of it) for what it really was, and how we needed more balance. Let's just ignore the fact that boys are doing worse than ever and outperformed by girls in nearly every academic area due to teacher bias, feminized curriculum, lack of male teachers, shortening of breaks etc... and just batter them into the dirt untill girls are the dominant gender, shall we? Because male dominance = oppression. Female dominance = equality. That logic always amuses me.

This. It's a commonly discussed fact in the industry. And it's also the reason advertising is a female dominated field. Most people working in advertising agencies nowadays are women. And in the ones I worked, there are specific strategic demartments with people with psychology degrees etc who analyze creative concepts to maximize effectiveness. It's not about hating men. Advertising itself is neutral. It's all about money. The thing is, women love "hating" men, so advertisers give women what th…

Back when I was in high school, none of the male teachers would even write up a female student if they where breaking the dress code. They would go get a female teacher to do it for them out of fear of some kind of sexual harassment claim. Of course female teachers wrote up male students all the time. Oh this is so recognizable from my high school.

"I screamed and yelled and begged for people to help," Banks said Sunday by phone. "And even then no one listened." And not a word about the girl's punishment, if any. An alternative would be having men agree on conception if they want to be the father or not, if the mother chooses to keep the child. If the mother wants to keep it and the man doesn't want any part of it, then he should be able to opt out of all responsibilities, or support her should he so choose and should she want him to do so. Feminists do talk about male rape victims, but usually only when the perpetrators are also men. As long as women aren't anything other than the victim. This is also very interesting: "... And now the real surprise: when asked about experiences in the last 12 months, men reported being “made to penetrate”—either by physical force or due to intoxication—at virtually the same rates as women reported rape (both 1.1 percent in 2010, and 1.7 and 1.6 respectively in 2011). I still come keep coming back to this though: 'The CDC’s Rape Numbers Are Misleading' http://time.com/3393442/cdc-rape-numbers/ Which states that if we define 'made to penetrate' as rape (which we should) then men and women claim being raped at practically the same rates.
/r/MensRights26/12/14 09:52 PM

And yet I've never seen that clarification in writing. I'm still sceptical. Especially since the CDC found it necessary to make their own 'made to penetrate category' rather than use the legal definition of rape applied to men.

I was thinking Canadians were a bit too friendly... lol FYI on the 1 in 5 bit; "The full study, which was published by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, a division within DOJ, found that rather than one in five female college students becoming victims of sexual assault, the actual rate is 6.1 per 1,000 students, or 0.61 percent (instead of 1-in-5,…

Usually I love Joe Rogan, and in this podcast he said some great stuff about feminist, SJW's and GamerGate. But just now he's going on a rants about MRA's and says how men's issues are only about child support and divorce etc. And then goes on to say it was MRA's who were saying women were to blame for Eliot Roger's behavior... seriously? I've got a massive list of men's issues here just screaming for Joe Rogan to talk about them. We really need to get someone like Karen Straughan or Christina H…

By always neglecting the male victims of domestic violence, they are standing in the way of gender neutral laws that protect both women ánd men. Also, by ignoring female abusers and pretending like women can't hurt men or ónly commit emotional abuse, we are sending the message that it's okay to abuse men since men are inherently the violent gender, dispite data showing that women are often more violent than men. This only contributes to the demonization of men and boys in society. It's the same …

Funny read :D Good for them for not bending to the endless PC SJW parade. And like the article said, the naked students probably cared just as much about the situation the SJW's were protesting, but that wasn't the time or the place to do so, and clearly had an alternate agenda.

Having been a male feminist, I have to disagree with that. I think in most cases it's simply a case of ignorance and enjoying the band wagon. It's always fun when you're part of a group, and often times people involved in that sort of thing will have friends with the same beliefs, which only reinforces their own. The same goes for the vast majority of female feminists. There are many who call themselves feminists that I would define as egalitarians, but simply cling on to a nostalgic ideal of wh…

Well if that doesn't send a strong signal to male feminists, I don't know what does. I sincerely hope she keeps on going. She'll only force men to look for alternatives. In politics it often doesn't really matter. Someone can push for something merely to not look like a hypocrit or appeal to voters. Doesn't mean he cares. Doesn't mean he doesn't either. Either way, it's good there's some attention to it. One step closer to changing the legal definition.

This shouldn't be your only source of information, just like moderate feminists shouldn't hang around only in feminist echo chambers. Consult various news sources and different subreddits, including ones you might not agree with, just to get a bunch of different perspectives. You'll always come across positive articles that balance out all the negativity. At this point in time, it's not surprising this sub has mostly negative topics.

At least in the US, UK, Canada and even India people are discussing men's rights, or questioning feminism. In Europe, there's no such thing. You can't question feminism here anyway near the same way you can nowadays in the US. Online, at least. At least in the US, even feminists are aware of male issues. If they agree they need to be adressed before women achieve "equality" (or even care about them) or not is a different matter.

Oh man the ignorance surrounding male rape never fails to surprise... "People often think that a male must be aroused if he gets an erection or has an orgasm, and so that means that they are willing and enjoying any sexual activity. Roy J. If it showed a tendancy towards lying or other untrustworthy traits, then yes. But plagiarism has a lot of gray areas. Any artist knows how easy it is to subconciously borrow ideas and improve on them.
/r/MensRights28/11/14 02:42 PM

It depends if it was concious plagiarism or not. A lot of artistic work is based on or inspired by others. Sometimes you don't even realize it untill someone shows you the comparison. Having experienced that myself, I'm not judging that before knowing more about the case specifics, which I don't really care about. A quick google search didn't yield any definitive answers. I havn't heard him elaborate on his experience, so untill he does I'm refraining from judgement and merely offering a possible explanation in a form of my experiences with certain situations affecting your judgement. It's not always verbal. And even if it were, you're still ignoring the irrational part by looking for logic. It's similar to having adrenaline taking over when confronted with violence. If you think you're always going to be in control, you're in for some surprises in life.

I doubt many victims or crime or abuse are always in their right frame of mind to logically assess the sitation and react. Perhaps he thought it was someone else. In Belgium and the Netherlands for example, specifically Maroccan youths have disproportionately high crime rates that never seem to be adressed from within there own community. For a long time there was the feeling that they simply didn't care, which only led to more frustration and now has resulted in many far right parties gaining popularity. It's a scary evolution. It's a rare thing for muslims to speak out against extremists the same way other groups do. I'm not sure what it's like in the US, but in Europe we have a very high percentage of muslims, and it's rather hot topic. However over here, the last couple of years we are seeing muslims finally becoming part of the debate. And recently there was also a lot off public opposition towards ISIS, which is good. Sadly, that's extremely unlikely. Many of the blog sites that jumped on that wouldn't want to damage their reputations by admitting they're gullible. I'm surprised Huffpost was neutral enough to allow that. I'm impressed. And well written article. I'm sure many women - and a large number of moderate feminists - will agree. Quite the olive branch.

I suggest you check out youtube videos by Karen Straughan (her earlier solo videos) and Christina Hoff Sommers. They usually add all their sources in the info, but also mention a lot of interesting historical facts and statistics you can then double-check through google.

This is good news, right? Why am I not seeing more enthousiasm? Isn't this kind of a win? If the burden was on rape defendants it would be even easier to make false accusations. So to me it seems that the fact that that change was revoked, means they came to their senses? Or am I reading this wrong?
/r/MensRights31/10/14 01:54 AM

True, but that's to be expected. However it seems over time I'm seeing far less hostility to the idea. The more people hear about it, the more they consider that women aren't the angles they're made out to be, or the only victims. And that's a good start. The more they hear about it, the more curious some will become and start digging. And that's a good step towards awareness. However it's obviously important those statistics can be backed up if the message is to be credible. Wouldn't want to go…

There doesn't need to be a "movement" that needs representing. There's no need for that in this modern age. As long as people talk about it and spread awareness to both sides of issues, things will work themselves out. And these guys aren't putting themselves up as being some leaders of the MRM revolution or anything like that. They're just talking about it. And Joe Rogan has a pretty large male and female listener base, so that's a good thing. And he put's it out there rationally and in a funny…

I've noticed that aswell, although I'm not sure I like the place I'm at right now. I'm hoping to figure things out in the months to come. Ever since I swallowed TRP and got more interested in men's rights, double standards and all that stuff, I kinda dropped out of the whole dating game. Before that, I did about two years very active dating and slept with a lot of women. Had a pretty great time, and the reason TRP resonated so much with me is exactly because I noticed those things on my own by d…

The consequences of a false accusation are pretty terrifying though. I try not to let it bother me, but in certain situations it's difficult not to consider the risks. Wow that was one of the saddest bits of "reporting" I've ever read. Why did he even bother going? He clearly expected a bunch of rednecks just spewing woman hating garbage, but got uncomfortable when that wasn't the case. Just look at the excuses made for her in the comment... I'm always seeing this in cases where a woman does something. Sexual orientation or skin color doesn't matter in the slightest to me. It's all about the way society treats and views men and boys for me. And women and girls aswell, for that matter, but I still see that in an anti-feminist context, since I consider myself a true humanist.

Always refreshing to see more and more women see feminism for what it really is. Egalitarianism is the way to go, and leaves room for both men's and female rights and issues. The sad fact that many people don't even want to acknowledge men face far more important issues in today's western society than women is depressing at best. Good thing that already over 72% of US women no longer associate with feminism. Hopefuly some day we'll get rid of that cancer that's ruining society.

Hardly. It's clear feminism is losing ground. Recently over 72% of women publicly stated not calling themselves feminist, and we are increasingly seeing men and women publicly distance themselves from feminism to join more gender neutral definitions such as egalitarianism/humanism, where they are actually allowed to be admit men's rights have valid concerns aswell.
