I more want to see if he's willing to invest in my pleasure, not just for his own sake. It's less about the actual act of reaching climax, and more about: Is this person willing to put up with having delayed gratification if it's for my benefit and the benefit of our connection as a couple?

That definitely did cross my mind, I wouldn't bring this up - or even probably start being intimate at all - if I felt remotely unsafe.

Of course, just once I'm ready to start being intimate with him. And of course, the scrote response will be the trash taking itself out!

I wouldn't, but that's only because I rent my second bedroom of my house. The cost of living in my area is bonkers for the job market, but maybe in a different area, I would consider it a red flag.

Yeah, he was always late...to his own shit, to mine, to anything. Unless it was extremely important to him. In my case, he was NEVER apologetic

Technically, in my state, common-law is not dictated by the amount of time you've been together. Instead it's dictated by two criteria: 1) cohabitation and 2) the couple presents themselves as married/spouses. This can mean they have a "wedding" in their backyard or simply they start wearing rings and call each other husband and wife (my state does not require you to be married by an ordained minister even for it to be legally recognized). There have been cases where a couple had no ceremony or …

I agree!!! I love the one of the comments on the first post you linked, where the dumb fox method is being employed. "Oh, I'm sorry I misunderstood... I thought you were asking me on a date, perhaps we'renot on the same page."...such a great response. I live in a very small community, so unfortunately I feel that I have to respond to any suggestions for dates from men I talk to, even if it's to say no, in order to protect my image among any social circles (bad gas travels fast in a small town). …

Back in my pickmeisha days, lateness was one of the first red flags that I noticed about my abusive ex. I was training for a bodybuilding competition at the time and offered to let him train with me at the gym when we became more exclusive. However, I had a set time I would meet up with my trainer every day and my ex would be consistently late. Not only late, he would have the audacity to get upset and sullen when we didn't wait for him and started working out without him. I would try to explain…

I leave them on to use them as a vetting strategy. If he can handle being left on "Read" temporarily while I'm busy without freaking out, he won't get left on "Read" permanently. Now if he freaks out, asks why I left him on "Read", or says I'm ignoring him...automatic red flag and block.

Her "explaination" needs to be: "Because you're a grown man who can procure his own meals, I'm not your servant, and while we're at it, I'm not your girlfriend anymore."

I don't see how after 10 years together these are "potential" incompatibilities. Just call it for what it is, you two are not compatible. You're not happy, and I'd be willing to bet if he is, he's only happy because he has a woman in his life to live with and clean up after him...it's not like if he's gained all that weight he would really want to have to start all over in the dating world. Be free. Plain and simple.

I personally just used this as excuse to start gray-rocking a guy that I felt unsafe just ripping the bandaid off. I got in deep with a narc masquerading as an HVM and I felt unsafe just saying, "this isn't working out," so instead I made it about me. Obviously, I feel like MY intentions in this scenario are good and for my safety, even if they are not ideal. However....the end result in my case and yours is the same: to create distance. If this guy wanted to be in your life MORE, he would not d…

I would say a healthy, slow-paced relationship is marked by MEASURABLE, CONSISTENT progress towards deeper commitment and connection. One where he's just not that into you will feel like you're doing more work, and efforts to deepen the commitment/connection 1) feel like pulling teeth, 2) happen inconsistently and unpredictably, and/or 3) your desires and needs aren't being met with enthusiasm....ever. A woman who expresses a desire to strive towards commitment will be met with enthusiasm and de…

I think you hit the nail on the head with your last statement. He was perfectly capable of doing these things before but didn't. He was complacent and only changed his behavior when he sensed he was losing out on something that benefits him: your availability in his life. Ultimately, him doing these things for you are an act of self-preservation on his part, not genuine care and concern.

My first boyfriend was a Scorpio. He was the one that was manipulative, his mother I'm pretty sure had Munchausen's by proxy, and he told me when I joined the military that he would force me to get pregnant to keep me from getting deployed. After I finally dumped him after finding out he cheated on me, he was in a bad car accident while intoxicated with my cousin (they were friends before we dated) and put himself in a coma and almost died. My former fiance was a Gemini. He was overall a very sw…

Not about dating, but related to leveling up: Don't ever stop challenging yourself, whether it be physically, mentally, spiritually, in non-romantic relationships, or in your career. If you feel "off", you've become stagnant in ONE of areas. Recognize when you may need to back off of one to focus on one that has been getting neglected. It's tempting to use a credit card for things like groceries and gas, but only use one with complete and utter intention. You might create a runaway train of, "it…

A LVM doesn't want to draw attention to how attractive you are because maybe you'll realize how out-of-his-league you are and then he won't have access to you anymore. Even if you truly love him, he knows he doesn't deserve you and will do everything to keep your self-esteem low enough to stay with him. An HVM is secure enough in himself to compliment you; he is confident enough to know you are a grown woman who has CHOSEN to be with him and honor your choice. He is a man that knows he wants a b…

Mine says, "The goofiest badass you will ever meet." and a quote from my favorite book: LOTR. I like it because it shows I have a sense of humor and that while I'm a little nerdy, but I also recognize my accomplishments.

As a veteran myself, I would advise against dating anyone in the military unless he shows some serious HVM qualities and - as others have mentioned - he's disciplined with his use of coping mechanisms. Many I have encountered during my time in the military will use a variety of things to avoid dealing with their feelings in a healthy way: alcohol. drugs. porn. Those are the most obvious, but there are other things too. Video games, being a "workaholic," and generally using anything to distract f…

Girl, I feel you! I went to a private Christian middle- and high-school. Soooooo many toxic religious men. Story 1: The vice-principal (50M) would single me (16F at the time) out for "dress-code" violations because he would basically lust after me in high school, I could see it in his eyes. I would constantly be sent to his office so he could talk to me about how my body was affecting the boys and men in the school. One such instance I was wearing a skirt that he claimed was too short. We had to…

I've seen a lot of examples of men using philosophical "Stoicism" and they post a bunch of quotes from Marcus Aurelius as a way to maybe make themselves look good? Or they actual subscribe to it as a type of lifestyle. I've also found 9 times out if 10, they expect women to chase them, string them along, and then act like their somehow better than you because they think they are "enlightened".

The negging, the minimizing of what's important to you, the inconsidetation, and the disrespect in regards to your sex life...these are all huge red flags of not just a LVM, but a NVM. Sounds like my narc ex tbh. Dump him...stuff like this will only continue.

Sometimes, and I think FDS doesn't touch on this enough, is that we don't have to love and marry every HVM we meet. You can be dating an HVM and still not be right for each other.

Trust your gut without question. Giving guys the benefit of the double, especially ones who so apparently lack boundaries, is a recipe for (at the least) disappointment and (at the most) heartbreak.

1st Cringey Date: Matched with a guy on OLD and after talking and agreeing to go out, he insisted we go to a movie. I said I'd rather go to dinner so we could actually get to know each other, but he kept saying there was something playing he really wanted to see and we could go to dinner after (it was Annihilation with Natalie Portman). I eventually agreed. Showed up to the theater, and he was a whole head shorter than me. I still went to the movie though, and he kept trying to hold my hand and …

Dump him. He already disrespected you and it's none of his business who you interacted with while you were broken up. Don't give LVM second chances. They don't change. And also, men who are in the military and exhibit any LVM especially aren't going to change. They'll use their "experiences" to make themselves the victim and excuse their shitty behavior. I am am army vet and I've dated men affiliated with the military, so I know from experience.

I'd say this is debatable...50:50 there's a really good reason their marriage didn't work and they either have a victim complex or they're narcissistic. There are some decent divorced men, but not a ton

I'm not. I blocked him shortly after this long text he sent. I was up in the mountains (I live in Montana) with friends yesterday and when I got back into cell service I had a text and a VM on my phone that I didn't respond to, so he sent this text today.

This just sparked a light-bulb moment for me! I'm new to FDS (within the last several months) and I just came to the realization that I may have been preventing a HVM from being interested because of my lack of boundaries. It makes complete sense that a HVM wouldn't pursue a woman who bends over backwards for LVM and need attention and validation. High Value attracts High Value. Thank you, Queen!

Something else that I don't think this article touched on is the investment that women automatically have to put into a date. Many LVM men might respond with, "Well the woman should show she's generous too!" 1: Women are conditioned from a very young age to be generous and care-giving. Men are not conditioned that way, they're conditioned to be dominant. Ergo, it is more important for the man to show he can be generous early on. It is more of a given that women are generous. 2: A woman puts more…

Block him. If he does end up trying to see what's going on with your social media, he'll realize you blocked him when he can't find you and THAT will take up so much more mental and emotional space in his head than seeing your photos. Not that thisshould be your motivation, block him for YOU. But, the added bonus is that men like that feed so much off attention that the simple act of blocking him (in essence ignoring his existence completely) will throw him off his game: You: *block him* Him: Wh…

Once my ex got super drunk and when I compared him to a previous ex because they both had plugs in their ears at one point (just an off-the-cuff remark, we weren't even fighting), he proceeded to lock himself in his truck and "try" to strangle himself with his seatbelt. Another time, he got drunk and lied to me, saying he took a bunch of his pills (for bipolar disorder) and then FAKED a seizure just to see how I would react. Lesson learned. If I didn't know better, I would think this was my ex-boyfriend's ex-wife writing this. She went through a similar situation (although I didn't know about it until well after all of his bs blew up in my face). The long and short of it is he cheated on her while they were married. They had been separated for a year, and their daughter was 3, when I met him; and of course he did the same to me. Only then did I start hearing from people who knew him what he was really like. I think you can be "friends" with guys as long as you are FULLY AWARE that this is how they operate. And the way you interact with them is going to be different than the way you interact with your female friends because of this.

Modern culture as it currently is does a very effective and efficient job of conditioning us to believe that's the way we need to interact with others to be accepted. It's all social conditioning. I love the quote "your first thought is what you are conditioned to think, while your second thought shows the reality of your character."
