I stayed neutral for both our cildren, a bit sad for them when their first major relationships ended. But life goes on. I just ask if they are seeing anyone. Both are in their 20s.

I am a 58 year old widoer. My GenZ alnost 26 year son visited me this weekend. We went for brunch before he left and I asked if he was seeing anyone (he had a HS/college GF who broke off a few years ago). He told me it is on and off. He meets people. Get instagram addresses etc. and they go no where. He said he is getting tired but brightened up when I told him I didn't meet mom until I was 26 which led into a discussion of our early dating days. As a follow up, he asked me if I was seeing anyon…

For my daughter? Yes. Though as a 56 year old out of shape widower I'm not sure what I could do but shake my fist in anger.

Don't want to do the time, don't do the crime. Someone is going to have to pay to help raise the child. Bio dad > over Joe taxpayer. Don't like it, get yourself snipped and have fun.

Yes and no. Still socially liberal. I understand DEI and I am in a position where that doesn’t affect me but I can see that rubbing disenfranchised white men the wrong way. Educated and skilled people will always find work, uneducated and unskilled are another matter. With fewer men, compared to women, going onto higher education they are being disenfranchised by their own choices, especially in the 21st century. I remember when NAFTA was passed. It was sold as something that will lower prices a…

Thanks. My children kept me from jumping in front of the train initially. I have the “curse” of still wanting to see, for better or worse, of what tomorrow will bring — outside of what my children may do.

Ok…. I’m a 55 year old widower and just don’t care anymore, kinda. I’d like to find my next partner in crime but am okay if I don’t. I had my love. I have our children (though now adults). I have our home. End of day who can ask for anything more.

Ours was somewhat lively until health canceled that. We were definitely slowing down as our libidos diminished with age until the big C said otherwise. There was an opportunity near the end when my wife was dying from cancer — I still don’t know if that would have been a pity f*ck or if she really wanted sex. She didn’t push it and as basically her care taker by then didn’t pursue. You remember the first time with your love, not the last. No matter, we cuddled when we could until we couldn’t.

My poor sister. Three brothers. Our parents bought her a Barbie dreamhouse. My brothers and i cut the cable to the elevator, killed Barbie and converted it into the superfriends HQ. Cant recall if we allowed Wonder Woman in.

My now almost 23 year old son was on the spectrum at that age (might have still been undiagnosed). I dont think it ever came up but my wife and i refused to medicate. Unfortunately he inherited my youthful sporting skills but as an adult discovered he also inherited his grandfather's marathon skills. Therapy etc to help him learn socialization skills etc.was the way we went. We wanted him to become who he was meant to be. He became an engineer so his natural temperment works well there

I’m 54, 30 is too young. My late wife and I already raised our children, not doing that again (too tired). That said i found my wife to be gorgeous until 41. That’s when the cancer came.

OMG!!! Run away dude. I grew up and lived in the outer boroughs of NYC and were generally politically neutral but socially conservative in the early ‘90s (at least where my future wife and I were looking to live). We knew we were going to get married but I hadn’t saved up the money to get her the ring I wanted to get her — nothing fancy, just a nice ring. I bought her a $5 fake ring for the landlords to see we were a couple. The actual proposal wasn’t flashy, just the park (neither of us could r…

Heh, he does well for himself. No clue how he does it but he has always had a girlfriend/executive assistant since grade school. He has been friends with his current gf since hs but they didn’t start dating until college (I called it b4 he did, long story).

It’s possible. For every foot there is a shoe. My son is an asppie and he is not only with his college girlfriend since freshman year (senior this fall) but they are making plans for post college. He also goes to a university that focuses on engineering so I suspect he fits right in with what women at that school are looking for in a man. But we also had him in therapy, special Ed programs for children like him (thank you no child left behind) since pre-school which helped him adjust over the ye…

My son and his GF are Gen-Z. They have been together since freshman year in college over 2.5 years ago. My son and I don’t discuss their sex life but their relationship is definitely exclusive.

When I lost my wife to cancer when I was 49 I had been with just her for almost 25 years. Before her I had two girlfriends but was pretty shy and never had any hookups so I figured it might be nice to just have some one night stands. Long story short I quickly realized that I always have been one to have to be in a relationship to really enjoy sex. A hookup is nice when lonely but that is it.

Courtesy of facebook, I have seen plenty of pictures of now 50 year old women I grew up with or at least knew when we were in our teens and 20s. Some look just as good as when they were younger, others looked 50 when they were 40. I know a pair of 50 year old identical twins, one of which has had health issues. The one with health issues has otherwise kept up her physical appearance and looks much younger than her now out of shape twin.

I grew up in the ‘70s and 80. Almost all the older (50 and up) single men I knew were widowed, divorced or in the closet (probably). But that was the time. Sex before marriage was discouraged as was living together without marriage. As to finding someone, you never know, I met my wife when I wasn’t looking. We lived together before marriage and that was not an issue by then. We had about 20 years of marriage until she was assianated by cancer.

I think the worst offender is tradition, I can say a few lines about hygiene or cosmetic reasons and they sound kind of logical to me but when you cut your baby because "it's what was done to me" or "I want him to look like his daddy" I'm Jewish. It was done to me because it was part of my religion (it was also a time where circumcision was common no matter your religion). My penis and I had a very enjoyable time in our day so I have no idea if I missed anything.

I've got two stories. Back when I was around 20 or so my brother had a very petite girlfriend who, as my mother phrased it, was a size 2 on a bad day. I thought nothing about it as my mother did not really care for his GF. Some years later I was describing her to a female friend or date (don't recall why, at the time I had some good stories about her) and when I used that phrase she asked me where I got it. I mentioned my mother said it and she just chuckled. I had never thought about it before …

We used to be friends (technically still are just don't near each other any more) with a couple who swore they would never have children, Then the wife's twin sister had a baby. The couple had a baby within 12-18 months (and are very happy parents) and the wife now writes books for children. Obviously they decided to change what they wanted out of life. 30ish is where people start thinking about a family. Not necessarily have a family right then, but start thinking about it. My wife and I were 2…

Time. A lot of us didn't date when younger for so many reasons. Shy. Baby face. Low self esteem. Pleasantly plump. Acne. Missing signs from girls who were interested in you. Looking back, I missed many signs but I was still a shy kid back at 23. My big problem, once I lost my "baby" fat etc was I still saw myself as that fat kid. That took time to get over. The trick was to look forward, not back. I'm a 50 year old widower now, but I didn't have confidence until I was 24/25. I met my wife at 26 …

The risk of losing someone you love outweighs the desire for strange. Seconding this. I lost my wife to breast cancer after 20+ years of marriage (together for almost 25 years). Like every marriage there were bumps, kids sure did not help, but we made it work. I noticed she wasn't as pretty as she was at 24 but she was still gorgeous in my eyes. We used to have a nice sexual fantasy life when younger and kind of kept things up until she got ill, though it was much less frequent due to age by the…

I was widowed at 49 and the first woman I dated was 20 years younger than me (we met at a breast cancer survivors group). It was fun for a bit but NEVER AGAIN! Too much drama.

I lost my wife to breast cancer when I was 49. Before she passed she told me she wanted me to move on. I replied who wants an out of shape, balding almost 50 year old nerd. She replied you're a good father, you have a good job, own your house & car, am a nice guy and have all your teeth. I thought she was joking -- she wasn't. Long story short, at 50+ at least I can now be the one to be choosy (I go for personality first anyway). My first relationship was with a 29 year old. It was fun but NEVER…

I was married 20 years when my wife passed (breast cancer). I started chatting with a woman whose mother also passed from breast cancer at the same hospital. Long story short, I'm now a 50 year old dating a 28 year old. It's been interesting.

I'm not sure if this response is appropriate for this page; if not, mods feel free to delete. I started following this subredit after I my wife of over 20 years lost her fight with breast cancer, more to get an idea of what the world was like for single men these days and to re-start me after losing we. As my wife's time was coming to a close we talked about my future. She told me she wanted me to meet somebody new. I told her I had no plans and aside, who would want a bald, nerdy, fat almost 50…

Back in the early '90s I had a friend who was a school guidance counselor. He used to complain that he had to leave his door open every time a girl came to see him to make sure he wouldn't be accused of something. He ended up quitting and taking over his parents' restaurant business.

saying he should have been wise enough to have stopped At that age, especially in that situation, many times the little head ignores the big head. And reading the rest of his response, looks like he learned a good lesson about not sticking it in crazy. Not sure what he could've done if she did cry rape or that he didn't stop when she "changed her mind." If the police got involved his only hope may have been praying she was a poor liar.

People need to learn how to laugh at themselves. My mother was in a wheelchair. One night, maybe 25 years ago, I took her to a comedy show/dinner event for her birthday or something. The comedian made some jokes about wheelchairs and the handicapped. I looked over towards my mother to make sure she was all right and I saw her chuckling. Later, when we were all filing out, the comedian was greeting the audience. My mother looked him in the eye and said she enjoyed the show.

No one specific, but go find an alpha-female divorce lawyer in your area. Check out your local bar association for names and start making appointments until you find an attorney you are comfortable with. You can also check out various websites like lawyers.com or avao.

My wife was a lawyer for an Aids center years ago and is still a bit involved in the LGBT legal community. Over the weekend we are at a BBQ for that section's bar committee and maybe because we're all older, but it was just a BBQ. Just chatting, drinking, keeping an eye on kids, making lawyer jokes etc. My wife did I say i was pretty popular but I was just talking with people (unless bald, fat and mid 40s is a thing).

How much money is being wasted prosecuting a 17 year old boy for sexting a 15 year old girl? 17 year old boys and 15 year old girls have been dating and showing each other their private parts (among other things) forever. The main difference now is that the horny kids record themselves instead of doing it live and in person. These are both children. Shame on the girl's mother for trying to ruin the boy's life by sending him to prison and labeling him a sex offender. What happened to common sense…

This why my friend quit teaching and took over his family's restaurant. He got paranoid that something like this would happen (worse as he was a guidance counselor).

I have a friend who is an attorney. He says if he had to do it all over again he would have become a bus driver. My brother-in-law started working for the city 30 years ago at age 18. Two more years and he can retire. Me on the other hand will get paid my salary and work till 70. While our son is interested in math and science and will take those classes through high school, the goal is to be good enough for college or a good trade school.

Puleeze. There have always been bad parents. Look at the 19th century slums for example where there were children on their own at 10. And there are also plenty of single parents today who put off their own needs to make sure their children get what they need first. Finally the Church ruined itself by not dealing with their pedo priests.
