Right, so then I am criticizing the fact that someone actually posted about it on this subreddit. In essence, I am agreeing with the other comments you speak of.

I knew I would come to r/Mensrights and would find a post bashing the video.

Assuming the top one is the is the first one, it seems that both photos are different extremes. The first photo shows all guy, and just one woman. The second banner shows just women. Neither of them really seem to be heading in the way of equality.

The wording in this Wikipedia-article is relatively gender neutral, and only mentions mother here and there. None of the men's rights controversies that you bring up are even mentioned in this article. There are a few controversies listed, but none of them are related to men's rights. You'll have to provide me with more viable sources than Wikipedia.

I'll tell you specifically what I want sources for. "That the mother can choose to give the child to the state, and let the state subsidize this choice, and that the father has no control over it." "That the mother can change her mind, and under safe haven of law, can drop her baby off no questions asked, and that the father has no control over it."

I am also referring to the other claims that were made.

Can you provide sources for what you're saying? I'm curious.

I don't really see how feminism is to blame. The lady is crazy. There is unfortunately a stigma with men being teachers, babysitters, or anything revolves around childcare. It sucks and needs to be changed.

no it's not irrelevant. People are arguing that the accuser ought to be given a 30 year sentence, since that was the sentence originally given to the man after he was wrongly convicted. how is that not the basis of "eye for an eye"

So if you murdered my (hypothetical) brother, then I should have the right to murder your (hypothetical) brother, even if he had nothing to do with it?

But the punishment (that you want) doesn't fit the crime. Raping someone and accusing someone of rape are two different things. Last time I check, I, a man, cannot get pregnant or contract STD's/STI's from a false accusation of rape. There are of course, different things that can happen to me, but that's the key word... DIFFERENT.

Surprised this was voted down. I do not see how this infringes upon the rights of men.

Read the article, don't see what the big deal is. They're just being given credit to make a Wikipedia page. The only problem I can see is that it might overlap with similar pages.

It's not necessarily the feminist groups who are anti-Israel/anti-Jew. I mean, there are feminist groups that oppose Israel, but it's not a requirement of a feminist group to dislike Israel. For the most part, anti-Israeli/anti-Jewish sentiment is something found in leftist politics. As you go further left on the political scale, you'll see that people are more pro-Palestine and anti-Israel.

That would be the logical thing to think. However, a lot of the antisemitism has sneaked into the social justice movement. A lot of the extremist conspiracy theorists legitimately believe that the Jews are partaking in some plot to take over the world. In terms of social justice, a lot of people disguise antisemitism as "Palestinian human rights." A lot of Arab states dislike Israel because of their dislike of Jews. In general, many people hijack the "Palestinian human rights" movement with thei…

And I would, in this conversation, respond with "Ah but you're playing into a hierarchy of problems. You're arguing that because other people have it worse than this woman, we should not be focusing on this woman's problems, nor the problems faced by the demographic she belongs to. You are essentially saying that her problems are not as bad as other peoples problems, and therefore not as urgent."

Well I guess a lot of this has to do with the attitude about men and sex. Men are expected to have sex with lots of women and be the "alpha-male" Going off the statement "A key that unlocks many locks is a good key," men are, in American culture, expected to be the key. They're expected to be assertive, aggressive, and to be able to mark their (sexual) territory. Because of those social attitudes, sexual violence against men isn't taken as seriously.

And how exactly is feminism about making men inferior to women/making women inferior to men? I've seen tons and tons of fake "MRA's" throw out this statement to discredit women's rights groups, but I've never been presented with anything convincing.

No, it's still ongoing today. It gained a lot of momentum in the 70's, but women (and men) still face a lot of challenges today. I'll admit, there are feminist extremists that you'll run into on tumblr, but to judge all feminists based on that is absurd.

Well feminism IS about equality for women, just like masculism IS about equality for men. I don't know where you get this whole "it's pretty obvious it's not about equality" antic. Though you're right on the other part, people shouldn't be forced-fed an ideology, especially children who are too young to critically analyze whatever it is that they're being taught. However, the idea that men and women should have equal rights doesn't sound like some extremist, far-fetched ideology.

A few things I'd like to point out Indoctrination It makes feminism out to be some cult. It's not, it's about women's rights. not critical analyses being I beg to differ, in my experience, feminism offers a good deal of critical analyses, and in the following ways. 1.) Feminism takes a look at media and entertainment, and analyze the depiction of gender, the presentation of gender stereotypes and gender expectations, how it moves the plot forward, and how it reflect the values in which that medi…

I'm surprised this comment was down-voted. It's okay for only men to support men's rights, but if feminists only want to strive for women's rights, they're sexist due to their lack of inclusion of men?

But she's abusing him; committing assault against him. The cop even said that if the man was hitting the woman, then he would see it as a problem and arrest the man. The law should not have any room for personal preference. Generally when police officers enforce the law based on their own personal preferrance, it comes in the form of racism, sexism (as seen here), homophobia, and harmful other forms of discrimination.

Well going off the idea of upbringing, I have this to say *men are brought up to toughen up/man up/take it like a man. *men (and women) are brought up to believe that women are physically inferior to men, and that any assault, or attempted assault on a man by a woman isn't, nor should it be, taken as seriously as a man assaulting a woman. There seems to be an intricate layer of societal upbringings and social constructs that allow for these situations to occur.

I feel as if a lot of the resources for suicide are gender neutral. There are tons of counseling hotlines that a man can reach out to.

Forcedfed feminist So they shouldn't be taught about women's rights? Where men are equal So they should only be taught about men's rights, or should I say, "forcefed" mens rights.

This appears to be "benevolent sexism." The men are all thinking "I have to protect this women because I am a man!!!1"

I mean, the cop is a human being, not a robot. I guess we'd have to make sure that the training for police officers includes videos such as these, to understand the dynamics and emotional/physical abuse in a relationship.

Replace "fat acceptance" with "body acceptance." Keep in mind that beauty and attractiveness are socially constructed, and varies throughout different societies. The idea is that weight loss should be done more so for health reasons, and not because somebody wants to fit an idea of "attractive." Nobody is ever going to find a gut hanging over the top of your jeans hot and sexy. As I mentioned before, quite a few societies would beg to differ. I could stand to lose a few pounds. Most of us could.…

Groups that support gender-based rights (mens/women's/trans rights) tend to focus on other groups of similar goals. Judging by your tone, I feel as if you don't have much experience with activism off the internet. You know, on the streets, out in the open, on the fronts lines of civil/human rights. There's a lot of cross-over of intersectionality. If you want to focus on just men's rights, then I suspect you're one of those "single-issue activists" (rolls eyes). straight-hating I don't even know…

Patriarchy, you just use it for emotional effect, or perhaps out of habit. You have me there, that's probably true, there are probably many other words I could have used in its place. And I'm not trying to take part in any psychological abuse here. I'm just pointing out what I'm seeing, is men who are, instead of trying to make the world better for men, going out and bashing feminists. These are the kinds of men who think that feminist and matriarchy are controlling the world. Sigh. Your basical…

And instead, you completely ignore the rest of what I said, and take part in the most predictable anti-feminist behavior. This is why people don't take men's rights movements seriously. Your kind of behavior has, either indirectly or directly, contributed to the actions of the president of the student inion at the University of Toronto.

Dirty tricks from a political opponent? I'm not engaging in any tricks here, I'm just telling you as it is. the "We shouldn't give them any ammunition route," Addressing the fact that there are many ways in which men suffer and are negatively effected by the patriarchy is one thing. Doing that wouldn't give anybody ammunition against you. But when a man tries to argue and debate any grievance that a feminist/women's rights activist brings up, that gives people ammunition. When men just assume th…

When people think of men's rights activists, it tends to conjure up an image of guys trolling feminist movements, attempts to hinder progress on women's rights, creating an unsafe space, and just being an all-around asshole. This is of course a stereotype, but there are a lot of people who do a good job at perpetuating these stereotypes, causing ACTUAL men's rights groups to suffer.

First, yes, there are extremists in every group that, while serve as a poor representation of that entire group, they end up creating the most harmful stereotypes of that group. Yes, I have met a few of the "man-hating feminists," but they're few and far between, and mostly exist on the internet, picking fights with anybody who disagrees with them. This is not a whole representation of feminists. And there are two types of men's rights activists groups. The first group consists of people who see…

And furthermore, feminism never said that media expectations only affect women. Feminism instead, deals with how media affects women in particular because, well.. feminism, feminine=women's rights. Masculism, likewise, would deal primarily with how the media affects men. Of course, there'll be a lot of crossover and support. Though you're expecting feminism to deal with EVERYBODY's gender issues, when in reality it mainly concerns women's rights.

Well I mean, yeah, it is a problem for men as well. I am not denying that, I don't think anybody is denying that. Though I disagree with you on the statement "this is not a gender issue." These kinds of issues, such as the expectations that media place on an entire gender, definitely are gender issues. The media has a very large influence in shaping gender. Now generally, a lot of men don't reach out for help when it comes to body issues; it's culturally tabooed for men to do that, and society d…

I don't see how this is the fault of feminism. The media and society that set up these unrealistic standards for women is the same media and society that set up this unrealistic standards for men.
