I think my higher brain values traits like warmth, kindness, etc but from a more primal level I only feel connected with men who I think are smarter or more capable than me. Like they have to have qualities which I feel “wowed” by or admire. Otherwise eventually my masculine traits start to come out and ruin the relationship, or they get insecure which makes me lose respect. I briefly dated an engineer once who could NOT get over the fact that I would make more money than him one day, despite me…

It sounds like you picked men who were insecure. Or maybe subconsciously you thought they were beneath you, and they could sense it (not ragging on you, I'm just saying you sound elite in many aspects and not many people would really measure up). Honestly I think you should try to date up! It's hard to really respect a man who isn't equal/better than you in masculine domains (career, intellect, capability, etc), but lowering yourself to be able to look up to someone is not being true to yourself…

Idk, most of my guy friends (mostly high earners) tell me they set their age preferences up to their own age, and some even go above. I doubt men 30-35 would just not even consider 29 year olds, especially if they're looking to settle down soon with someone in a mature headspace. I think it's more about how youthful you look (body especially) since you'll be competing with the hot 21 year olds he's swiping on as well.

Definitely don't put your salary on your profile. People know that engineers make money. Your profile sounds kind of masculine, like you have something to prove. "See guys, capable AND feminine! This is my plan for the future, and I can do it all!" As a woman your job in the initial attraction phase is not to prove yourself or check off his checkboxes, but to make yourself into an object of desire. You do sound very smart and capable, which means you will likely need an equally/more smart and ca…

I have a home laser hair removal kit. It hasn't gotten rid of everything yet, but it makes my hairs much finer and grow in slower, which help tremendously with shaving without itchyness/ingrowns

Agreed. I thought this sub was meant to be a departure from the silly "who's more oppressed" antics. If you don't like modern feminism, the answer isn't to apply the same logical fallacies to men to equalize things. Sick of MRA "cool girls" who think they're so edgy and better than feminists. Men and women are meant to work together - let's ditch the gender wars and strive towards a more sensible and cooperative society overall.

There are definitely evolutionary drives for men to limit number of partners though. Human babies are very bad at survival and require ample resources. If our male ancestors went around impregnating whoever and ditching, their offspring would likely die. That's why both genders are psychologically wired to bond and become attached to a mate/family

There's a difference between being an "independent woman who don't need no man" and cultivating the basic life skills to be as independent as every adult person should be. Also, there is no such thing as being simply "taken care of" as a woman. You have to take care of him in return. And if you can't take care of yourself, you're showing him that there's no way in hell you could take care of him or future children. Early 20s are very uncomfortable because everything is new and awkward and you're…

While I agree with the general principal of being up front about this kind of stuff, I think your age also plays a huge role here. You are precocious in knowing what you want out of life. The vast majority of 18 year old boys don't have a clue, and could very possibly do a 180 in terms of their desires on major topics. Heck, you could too. My advice would be different if you were at least 22-23 but SO much growing happens in early young adulthood. So I would not place too much stock in planning …

This sounds very ideal and sweet! But I feel like times have changed where many women need to work too. I honestly don't have so much energy to help someone else decompress when I need to decompress as well. I'd love to hear how RPW who work balance this kind of stuff. SO and I haven't moved in together yet but I work longer hours than him so having dinner ready, etc isn't feasible :(

I don't think two RP people would make a good couple, because RP is a strategy, not a lifestyle. You can't use a strategy on someone who already knows the game. That's why RP men can't turn us into plates, because we know how to vet for men who commit. On the other hand, we can't turn RP men into faithful husbands, because they know how to get sex without commitment. There's nothing essential to RP that says marriage is good or bad - RP is merely an acknowledgment of the psychological and sociol…

The value of lifetime companionship is something that many younger men can't quite grasp. And by younger I mean under 45ish. Suicide rates are highest in middle age and elderly single men. Married men live longer than single men (whereas single women live longer than married women). As testosterone levels decrease with age, there is less desire to sleep around and huge psychological benefits to being "tied down" to a stable companionship. Loneliness is a real issue, especially in older age. The …

This lady sold me on tretinoin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqkt9rYtt2Q&t=87s It's really tricky for sensitive skin though, so I would do a lot of research beforehand if you decide to use it. It's the only robustly scientifically proven agent for anti-aging though Edit: Just saw the comment about potential pregnancy plans! Tretinoin is the prescription form of retinol so I'd avoid that too :)

Eh I think it is still RP, just not in line with the values of RPW. What that lady is doing works to her purposes - using sex as a bargaining chip to get weak men to do things for her. I'd say it's the equivalent of RP men using dread to get women to be plates. But we don't want weak men in RPW, and those techniques obviously don't work on high value men.

I've grappled a lot with how feminine to present myself in my STEM field (medicine). There is definitely a notion that high maintenance looks means you're lazy and incompetent, because you're spending time on that stuff instead of being a workaholic. And my female colleagues are always gossiping about how so and so is overdressed and tries too hard. It's pretty sad. And while I would like for the environment to change (feminine =/= weak), I'm not going to be the one to change it. In my career, I…

I don't think religion is a must (people can have moral values without religion) but I completely agree with the notion of cherry picking values. They want submissive, nurturing, feminine women while refusing to pay for dinner, refusing the sexual and financial sacrifices of marriage, not stepping up as strong protectors and choosing to live selfishly instead.

Trans issues are such a divisive topic on the internet. There seems to be this notion from either side that things can only be black or white, even though it's a complex subject with a LOT of gray area. Sorry you're going through this. I think TRP and RPW have fundamentally opposing interests. I would not want to be with someone who is TRP "enlightened" because it teaches men that they can "hack" human nature and behave selfishly. You are still young and have much opportunity ahead. It sounds like you were an ideal partner and he will one day realize what a rarity he gave up. I also think as time gradually heals, you will start to see more clearly the uglier parts of him, and it will help you r…

Surrendered Single is good - someone already recommended it. Looking up "vetting" posts on here is good. Talk to people in your life in good relationships. Make a list of characteristics you prioritize, and ask yourself which ones are superficial and which will truly matter in a life partner. There might be more value to some introspection and getting a healthy sense of self worth though. What bullshit. I've gotten annihilated in women's subs by people who go through my post history and see that I participate here. Not even for the content of what I post. I'm not even 100% on the RP train, but I learn more from keeping an open mind and having discourse with a variety of viewpoints, rather than only living in echo chambers and shunning anyone that dares to contaminate my fragile beliefs with opposing views. You judged him positively by his looks, charm, and sexual appeal, while ignoring the huge character flaws he laid out in front of you. I really don't get the downvotes here. Isn't this sub about following gender roles? But we don't like the gender roles anymore if they make things harder for men? I completely agree with your assessment. Especially if the guy has much more money than her, not paying is more about a principle than the actual money itself. Hell, I pay for my friends sometimes without second thought.

I'm entitled to whatever dating expectation I want. No one is obligated to date me. But I've had no problem finding love with a wonderful man who doesn't think twice about paying for dates. In doing so he signaled many positive attributes: being a "gentleman," generosity, enough success/wealth that a dinner is no big deal, and enough confidence in his own value and ability to judge character that he doesn't fear being used by women. Men getting on their moral high horse about women wanting men w…

The women who insult men for opening doors are probably not the same ones who want men to pay. I expect men to pay because I do the extra work involved in playing the feminine role. I find stinginess unmasculine and unattractive. Men who don't pay and want equality can pair with blue pill women.

Even if it's true, it's still a weird thing to say. Especially if he is of high status himself. And weird to say it without making a comment on his moral judgment of that sort of thing. Just as it would be weird for a young beautiful woman herself to say "young beautiful women can easily get away with using a man for money and screwing him in the divorce. That's just how the world works."

Well if someone needs “variety” they should just be single or explicitly seek polyamory. These cheating husbands instead reap the benefits of having a committed monogamous marriage while using evolutionary arguments to justify dishonesty or lack or integrity. From a RP perspective, this only happens because we as women allow it. We should not tolerate behaviors we don’t accept just because they are “natural” from an evolutionary standpoint.
/r/RedPillWomen05/12/19 09:09 PM

I hate that justification...no one "needs" hedonism and pleasure. It's evolutionarily ingrained in me to love junk food but I'm not here getting fat and expecting my partner to deal with it. We should be holding men to a higher standard.

But what's the alternative? Our current economy requires all individuals to work for a living, leading to a excess of paid labor producing unnecessary bullshit and a shortage of the unpaid "soft" labor (childrearing, household maintenance, elderly care, community development) that can't be measured by GDP. But whoever goes into that nurturing role has to give up a lot of autonomy and financial security and can easily get screwed over by whoever they financially depend on. Thus, women have reject…

Also a younger woman is probably going to be more drawn to pleasure and fun whereas an older woman who's more serious about nailing down a long term mate would be more inclined to display hypergamy in a pragmatic sense (income, stability, status)

I really do wonder what these women have in plan as far as long term strategy goes. Seems many do want a committed relationship...but it's hard to love a man if you hate men. I would be interested to see a less morally driven version of RPW though, I do see quite a bit of moralizing here even if that's not the "point."

Sexism =/= merely believing men and women are different. Unless your only exposure to feminism is crazy, bitter internet feminists. Being anti-sexist, as in believing that both sexes should be allowed the same opportunities towards employment, education, voting, human rights, is a moral judgment. It's also the core of traditional feminism. Whether or not one's moral judgment aligns with this shouldn't affect whether they can practice RP, considering RP is about pragmatism rather than morality. I…

There was recently a great post on here about how you shouldn't be with a man who doesn't deserve your respect. I think that captured the vibe I'm going for. Also, making a man feel respected isn't synonymous with submission. It can actually be a light manipulation tactic. For example, it doesn't cost me anything to give tons of praise when a guy helps me with my car or pays for my meal, and it reinforces that behavior. Trusting him with decisions on things that don't matter to you. Showing genu…

I peruse both subs and find a happy middle. I agree that a huge problem on RPW is all the dumb advice given with authoritative tone by males who are clearly pushing a male agenda. But I've found some RPW principles pretty helpful. I've really wanted to see a shift in RPW towards using RP knowledge to maximize the female imperative, rather than becoming an ideal doormat for a TRP man. There are definitely some major truths at its core that could be used to our advantage. For example - highlightin…

Well if we're talking about individuals then no one really has authority to say "high value men all want this" because individuals are heterogeneous. I can tell you with confidence that high income men of my generation typically require their marriage partners to have some level of social standing, generally through education or career, simply because that is the social norm. A good portion also genuinely value intellectual compatibility and shared values including ambition. Other measures of "h…

What you're saying is not something I've observed in real life, in high income circles at least. Class is certainly important to most of them when considering marriage. My high profile boyfriend wouldn't dare to bring a hot uneducated 7/11 girl to one of his fancy work functions lol. Like I said, sexual attraction is the first filter but people take many more factors into account when choosing a life partner
/r/RedPillWomen29/10/19 03:24 AM

This is just not true. A high value man will consider that 10/10 as a temporary, passionate fling. They typically settle down with people of similar social class because humans don't make major life decisions based on sexual attraction alone, even if it's the most important initial characteristic. There are plenty of good looking women who are also accomplished/intellectually compatible.

I'm sensing some defensiveness. And I've definitely been down this path before when I was new to dating and everything was very exciting. But keep in mind that you don't know this guy. One date is not nearly enough to assess his character. Some men will say things they don't mean or even straight up lie to get laid or manipulate us. Look up "love bombing." I think we can be a little more sympathetic to OP since it sounds like she's from a developing country and fearing a life of true poverty. There's a point where romance and morals go out the window and it's all about self preservation, especially if your only asset/opportunity is your sexual value. I think the inability to handle conflict is very common in men, unfortunately. Our dissatisfaction brings them deep shame, but they’re unable to confront it and instead lash out or avoid instead. I think you’ve done everything you can to be gentle and respectful, and it’s not like you can just pretend you don’t have problems. The best way to create space is to have a real reason for doing it. Having friends, hobbies, and your own life to attend to so that you genuine reasons to not be available all the time. This is great advice, but a note on the quads. I think people have different genetic predispositions to how quickly they grow certain muscles. I've always had bigger quads naturally, and when I began weight training they grew like crazy ("newbie gains") in just 2-3 months. My legs looked significantly bigger and I had not gained weight. You need to make it clear to him (and to yourself) that you're fully prepared to walk out if serious changes don't occur within a certain timeline. All men will notice whether our bodies and faces look nice. Everything else is up to personal preference. Men are individuals, not a monolith. Figure out what kind of look is most desired by the type of man you're trying to attract. For example, high class men generally appreciate a more polished, feminine classy look. Edgier dudes probably like a girl with tattoos and piercings.

Your personality is super weird. I'm not saying fixing your personality will magically fix everything, but I can say for certain that it makes up a large portion of why you're an incel. No one wants to have sex with someone who is lamenting about how his genetics are so awful that it would be morally awful to reproduce. It's weird af. Normal people don't think about genetics this much. There's a subconscious drive to seek genetic superiority but our base preferences can easily be overridden. Sto…

While the advice on cultivating self esteem is good, it's still beneficial to approach high value men with a degree of skepticism and vet for intentions. We're internet strangers and don't know if you're actually high or low value. You could be a lower value woman that he wants to date/hookup with but wouldn't consider for marriage. Alternatively, you could be a high value woman with low self esteem that he's pursuing seriously. Try to gauge your situation cautiously and wisely.

I think the first thing for you to worry about, in order to have success in both your personal life and career, is to improve your self esteem. Your words are important and you shouldn't insult yourself like that. Through life, you will always be your own best friend - would you say something like that to your best friend? Being feminine is not always the best choice. It's a powerful tool to inspire people, particularly men, to want to love and protect you. However, it will not help you in your …

It's just common sense to find out what the best your SMV could afford. Before commitments have been made, why should an attractive 20 year old settle and be submissive for the first decent accountant that comes along if she later realizes her SMV can also afford a hot lawyer who's more confident, better in bed, and a better partner? As long as she accurately knows her value and appropriately vets for commitment rather than sexual interest, it's in her best interest to find to best partner in he…

Broken feelings are certainly not attractive, but love isn't about being turned on all the time. I (and most reasonable women, IMO) have a certain threshold of tolerance where I will put on my therapist hat and expect nothing of him and accept his brokenness because I care for him as a person. There just has to be enough positive to counteract those moments. Everyone has weaknesses and it's unhealthy to hide them. The people who go on and on about how women leave men who open up were probably to…

I've found a lot of wisdom on RPW but also a lot of bullshit. There are so many TRP guys on that sub and like half of the mods are men. It's like we're not even acknowledging that female and male imperatives are at odds with each other, and thus male advice will be biased. I wish the sub leaned more towards catering the female imperative ONLY by applying red pill concepts, in the way TRP works for men. But there are men in there lecturing us that being RP means being a "good girl." There was rec…

Because RP was originally created by males and has a strong male bias. I think hypergamy is natural and advantageous for a young woman in her prime. She should be branch swinging to land the best possible mate that her SMV can afford. I'm sick of hearing stories on here about hot 19 year olds trying to be the perfect RPW for some douchebag and not wanting something better for herself because that would be hypergamy. It's the same thing with men shitting on women who care about money, but say it'…

It depends on where you're starting. A majority of women could improve significantly with diet and weight training. This is probably the single most impactful move. Next is skincare and neat grooming. Something I notice is that women will pour loads of time into details like nails, hair, and fashion, makeup...while shying away from addressing the much more pressing issue of body shape. Yes, it's emotionally harder to change your lifestyle than go to the nail salon, but the payoff is astronomical…

I wouldn't say being an alpha plate spinner is the male fantasy either. Maybe in the short term, but men can be quite romantic deep down. That's why TRP always says that only men have a true capacity to love, whereas women are only pragmatic. (Don't agree with this, but just illustrating that even TRP men have that romanticism and desire for companionship, love, and understanding). I think the equivalent of striving to be a playboy alpha is striving to be a rich princess trophy wife who gets wha…

I think this is the most accurate equivalent. It's about "cheating" the game to have everything in your favor. The other suggestions on this thread (getting a good man to commit) are what we achieve by playing the game by the rules, not getting the best deal for ourselves. I find it interesting that we don't advocate or give tips on how to do this on RPW, while TRP teaches men how to be that hedonistic pleasure-seeking alpha. I find that on RPW we strive for something more emotionally fulfilling…

I totally agree with blowing out! I always considered it to be a skill that was too difficult or time consuming for me to realistically incorporate. Also my straight hair looks "fine" as is. But learning how to do a blow out really took it to the next level! The volume frames my face in a way that dramatically improves its shape. And I found it was worth the effort once I got the hang of it (and got a nice hairdryer attachment).

Yeah I agree with both of those. She has her young age going for her which is a huge plus that she should take advantage of. I don't think waiting for marriage is ever a good strategy except maybe for virgins in very religious communities. But putting out right away to try to compensate for being a single mom is gonna get her pumped and dumped.

Can we talk longer term milestones as well? For me, the intimacy timeline depends more on chemistry than anything else. But I do think pragmatically about when I'd like to hit bigger milestones: Meet friends: 3-6 months Meet family: 6-12 months Move in: 2 years Engaged: 2-3 years Married: 3-4 years Kids: at least 1 year into marriage For reference I am 24 and would like to start a family between ages 28-33.

Unrealistic is hiding the fact that she is INDEED a religious single mom looking for a serious LTR. What good will it do her to attract people who aren't okay with any of these elements? Better for her to be single than introduce the wrong type of men into her daughter's life. Best thing for OP to do is to recognize that being a single mom understandably shrinks her dating pool, work on maximizing her value, and know where to compromise (good looks, status, superficial features) and where not to…

This is so insightful and spot on! I think it applies to many other facets of life too. I think many women (including myself) tend to be voluntarily self sacrificing and not realize that we actually want to be taken care of. So instead of being vulnerable and expressing neediness, we get resentful and express this unmet need through weird passive aggressive shit like "Man Flu."

I disagree with paying for the first date. At most, do a half hearted offer to pay your own half. He should interject. If you're a high value woman, a guy who does not interject is not worth your time. I find that my opinion on this is very controversial on the internet. Not only dangerous, but probably also impossible? Do you really think you can lose that much weight in that time span? To give you some perspective, 1 lb = 3500 calories. So (66lb*3500cal)/90 days = 2566 calories per day. You'd have be a deficit of 2566 calories per day. Unless you're like 300lbs, most women only require 1500-2000 calories at baseline, so you'd pretty much have to literally not eat at all but also do an hour of intense cardio per day to reach that goal. Yes! I don't get why we even have a stance on feminism. How we behave in relationships should be apolitical. I'm not going to make decisions in my relationships based on how feminist or anti-feminist that move is. I'm going to do what works. I feel like all this does is scare of women who could gain a lot from this sub. Idk, I feel like it could also correlate with "I take marriage seriously and want to get a deeper look at our day to day compatibility before diving in." I think the explicit reasons of moving in needs to be discussed. Many couples will move in together due to financial/convenience reasons before their relationship is mature enough to handle it. They're honeymooning and just wanna see each other all the time, have lots of sex, and pay less rent. Once they've moved in, it becomes such a sunk cost…

I'm glad that holding out worked for you, but I also think this is not such a black and white issue as painted in RPW. Ideally, we should vet for men who are not in the mindset to pull the whole "move in and I'll reap wifey benefits without every committing" card. Outside of reddit, there is a sizeable population of men who actually desire getting married instead of viewing it as this thing they have to "give up" in order to gain something. Basic worth as a human being is related to purity and competence (to a varying degree in either sex). No one person has authority to say what determines a human’s worth. That’s a moral judgement. It's much more effective to say "these are the boundaries I have in a relationship," and holding yourself to those boundaries by leaving if they are broken. Everyone has different boundaries and he clearly differs in opinion with you on this. What's important is whether or not he chooses to respect your boundaries. The way you'v…

"Sociology is the study of human social relationships and institutions." Is sex not a human social relationship? I didn't say animal biology is primitive. I said that chimps and apes are millions of years of evolution removed from us, and that our closer ancestors are dead and difficult to study. You should refresh yourself on the definition of primitive, though. It literally means being at an earlier point in evolution. Probably exactly what evolutionists should be studying, so not sure what yo…

Skincare and groomed eyebrows are huge. Get rid of extraneous hair and peach fuzz. Get a haircut that flatters and frames your face shape well. What's the fuss about being totally natural though? Is it convenience or a moralistic thing ("false advertising," etc). Because women have been altering their appearance since the beginning of time. No one says getting braces is unnatural even though it's a cosmetic enhancement. You can make interventions without looking unnatural. My daily routine of BB…

You are making a lot of convoluted claims without much substantiation. There are many, many articles about the evolution of (serial) monogamy and provider-ship in our male ancestors. Here is one for example https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2009/10/oldest-skeleton-human-ancestor-found-ardipithecus/ Instead of fighting for access to females, a male Ardipithecus would supply a "targeted female" and her offspring with gathered foods and gain her sexual loyalty in return. But I'm not trying…

I appreciate the advice but this is not a problem I experience anymore. Definitely rang true when I was younger and surrounded by immature men. I'm just empathizing with the OP, given that many people are jumping to conclusions about what she's implying. Our collective understanding of our actual modern brains is extremely limited. Evolutionary theory is largely based on observations of more primitive species. And beyond that, the way evolutionary theory is used to substantiate red pill theories…

You're misunderstanding the point I'm trying to make. Attraction, value, and conscious commitment are important and in no way am I saying they are nonessential. However, there are more abstract reasons we love a particular person rather than anyone who can consistently provide the things on our checklist and better our life. Maybe it's the way they care passionately about bettering the lives of those less fortunate. Maybe it's their artistic creativity. Maybe it's their curiosity for knowledge. …

I see what you're saying but I'm not sure if that hits the particular point I was making. I admit my first example applies more with genders reversed. But what I'm saying that love goes beyond "this person meets my needs," and a component of being loved "for who you are" definitely exists. TRP is a great model for attraction but I think love is a more complex thing.

I mean, cooking and service are still external factors. How do you know that given the option, your husband won't leave you for a prettier woman who cooks better? That he'll stay if you become sick or disabled? It's probably because he loves you. It's that intangible thing that many of us search for. Again, not saying people should be complacent and expect love anyways. But RP can often simplify relationships into vessels to derive value from, and forget the component of connection. No matter ho…

I don't think OP is wishing to be complacent - I think she is just lamenting about how empty it can feel to be valued on your looks. As a young woman with a nice body and pretty face, it gets demoralizing realizing that not many people care much about what goes beyond that. I experience the world as a full person, not as my external attributes. It hurts to hear that my career, a passion that I've poured so much energy into, "doesn't matter." Okay dude. You are clearly very passionate about this. But there is no justice in the sexual market - it's all about economics. Is it fair that an ugly girl with a heart of gold gets passed over? No. But that's just how the world works. Your advice means nothing to me because I've had no problem attracting great men with the current standards I hold. On the contrary, I've found that it happily filters out the men I don't want. Most RPW want a combo of alpha and beta traits. I've had no trouble finding a man who doesn't have a second thought about offering resources up front, and doesn't have a big complex about it because he feels secure enough to know he's not being used.

LOL. I do think it's a reflection of failure in society though. I think these men don't have enough irl support or a way to let off steam so they turn to bitterness and rage. The sexual frustration angle is one I haven't considered as much but that makes sense!

Pretty sure a deep desire to commit and men going their own way are incompatible ideas by definition. I'm sensing that you're not actually MGTOW, and instead jaded/suspicious about relationships yet still desiring one deep down, and here hoping a unicorn will change your mind about women. I'm sorry but it's not the job of women to do that. No unicorn wants to date someone who is closed off, unable to be vulnerable, or needing convincing that relationships are "worth it." That's a lot of baggage.
/r/RedPillWomen23/07/19 12:32 AM

What is the point of this post? Perhaps you are misunderstanding the mission of RPW, which is to satisfy the feminine goal of attaining and nurturing a happy, committed relationship. By being MGTOW, you are by definition the opposite of what we desire in a man. Your lengthy list of personal achievements (which I frankly find to reflect an oversimplified perception of what we care about when searching for a mate) does not change that. A more appropriate AMA would be from a man with a deep desire …

Since online dating is so superficial and looks-oriented, I think it's important to find someone who feels "wow hell yeah" about your looks rather than "meh." A guy who's not messaging feels meh. You are directly adjacent to all the other fish in the sea. I think given the controversial climate these days, it does vary from person to person how to navigate paying for dates. I like to feel provided for as a social gesture, not as a practical modality. I view money/resources as a masculine form of giving, while love/warmth is feminine giving. Setting this kind of dynamic is what ignites attraction for me. Your example for how women are inferior intellectually because there are more male geniuses makes absolutely no sense. You could make the same argument the other way - men are intellectually inferior because they are more male imbeciles. Masculine energy can be very effective in the workplace. It's just important to put it away in your personal life. While many feminine traits can be very helpful in a work setting (cooperation, emotional intelligence), we live in environment where femininity can be looked down upon or taken advantage of in a professional setting. Pregnancies will certainly be harder on your body at 35 than 25 - think weight gain, labor difficulty, fatigue, recovery time. I agree with this and just want to add on that it doesn't necessarily need to be women who do it, but society needs to place more value the supportive roles necessary to nurture a family and community in general. Uh I'm not sure how that's what you got from my comment, as I said nothing about how women should behave. I thought it was a given that women have a lot to benefit from marriage, especially early on. Men don't early on, so it's not as clear. But the payoffs come later. I'd also argue that the victims of toxic masculinity are the men committing suicide or going off to fight in wars as teenagers. That's a heartbreaking story and one I see far too often. This is an example of how I would define toxic masculinity - as in, the man is suffering due to an imperative to be masculine. In this case (and MANY others), it's being perpetuated by the woman. I guess you could also call it toxic femininity because she is taking the feminine role too far. And she is being incredibly hypocritical to add to that. There's a huge fallacy to women who only believe in toxic masculinity when it's toxic to the…

There are tons of cogent arguments in this thread about why there is a truth behind the argument that society at large does not handle rape in a just way, and normalizes a culture that puts more women, children, and even men at risk for rap…

How about lets just show that sex worker some sympathy for the fact that she just went through something very traumatizing and leave it at that. I'm sure she knows she put herself at greater risk and doesn't need us to sit on our high horses and inform her so that we can reinforce all the guilt and shame that she probably already feels. Then we can pat ourselves on the back for being edgy and helping rape victims by being so brutally honest. Like jeez, I thought this sub was about culturing femi…

I just don't get why people care so much to prove this whole "rape culture doesn't exist" thing. What does it accomplish besides make women who have been raped feel guilty and ashamed ON TOP of the trauma of being raped? Women are already taught to make safe choices. We're given pepper spray as Christmas gifts. Things can get pretty ridiculous in extreme online feminist circles, but I've never seen a real life woman suggest that dissolving rape culture means that women should stop making safe ch…

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing but I'm glad to see dissent in the comments. I come to RPW to feel less isolated in my beliefs about relationships, but stuff like this just shocks me. I wish we could just intelligently disagree with certain aspects of modern feminism rather than going all manosphere/I'm-not-like-other-girls.

I don't care at all what kind of anger goes on in a separate sub that's clearly a male space. I get annoyed when that anger leaks into here.

An ideal sub for me would be more so dedicated for women helping each other become the best versions of themselves and quality wife material, who uphold family values, etc. I'm here because it's the closest thing I can find, though I prefer to distance myself from manosphere type communities. It's not that I disagree with the core realities, it's just that I feel it attracts men who have been badly burned and therefore have a lot of bitterness towards women. And the toxicity of that can be tirin…

"Don't you know that a man being rich is like a girl being pretty? You wouldn't marry a girl just because she's pretty, but my goodness, doesn't it help?" -Marilyn Monroe It's just the reality of how things are. Men will always be initially attracted to you over superficiality, in the same way that women get attracted to men. It's not that big of a deal unless you make it one. Love isn't like it is in the movies - it grows over time, and it grows where you nurture it.

Totally true. I think women nowadays are sold a lie that having a career is sooooo great and fulfilling and that's what every empowered woman should do! Don't sacrifice your precious career for a man! Working is HARD! I've put so goddamn much into my career only to realize I probably would have been happier going down the housewife route. I don't envy men for having so much pressure to perform and provide.

I don't really buy that. Both genders have unique challenges that the other does not understand the gravity of. Yes we get affirmative action but we also face workplace challenges that men generally don't. Yes we get sex more easily, but we also get sexually harassed and assaulted vastly more often. And I acknowledge that men have a number of gendered issues that I won't understand the nuance of. So I think there's really no point in trying to argue who has it worse. Fact is, life is hard for mo…

It's kind of sad to live that way, isn't it? Like I get it, tons of women are horrible, and LTRs can be bad for a number of reasons. But that doesn't mean the best choice for most men is to just give up on lifelong love and go around sleeping around and fulfilling their "evolutionary" role forever. I don't think the poster meant RPW specifically are better, but meant to convey that a man with a good wife and a happy marriage will probably be happier in the long run. Tons of data out there showin…

I didn't know there was a level of censorship going on in this sub. I personally hate TRP and love RPW. I don't really think they should be lumped under the same universe, because outside of the whole accept-reality aspect, the goals of each seem worlds apart.

Everything you said resonates with me so well. I'm so upset with all the people who totally dismissed my legitimate and SMART worries about balancing family life and career just because I was young. It's almost as if suggesting that a young woman consider her biological clock/whether she desires a family early on is some sort of attack against feminism, and would cause all of us to quit our jobs and become oppressed housewives or whatever. And yeah male expectations have shifted too. Nowadays it…

I think a lot of things get passed off as feminism. Social expectations held by women who call themselves feminist are not necessarily feminism. I feel like there's a huge tendency to use feminism as an excuse for bad behavior, and that's why it has such a bad rap. And I'm quite opposed to third wave feminist messaging about "empowering" ourselves through hypersexuality. But it's dangerous to denounce the whole movement because outside of the bullshit it does such important legitimate things too…

I dunno, I feel like no matter how you spin it, it's still harder to be a working mother unless you're wealthy. At least in today's society, women still take on most of the housework and childcare despite also working. You have to be separated from your babies all day. And it's not like small talk with coworkers is the pinnacle of social fulfillment. Most working mothers are in a situation where they don't really have a choice otherwise. Whereas SAHM are probably financially capable of doing fun…

Will he only drive you to the doctor when you're unresponsive? This is the emotional equivalent. This is such a great analogy and hits really close to home with previous experiences I've had.
