Well patriarchy enforces chivalry, and chivalry promotes the idea that men should be sperm cows with wallets for women, so yeah, patriarchy is a bad thing.

That's like saying the civil rights movement was violent because Malcom X or The Black Panthers advocated violence.

You would think that a group like Men's Rights would be concerned about the molestation of young boys. Yet do a search for Dawkins and you know what comes up? A flame war Dawkins had with an atheist girl that happened to identify as a feminist. Did you know that Dawkins wanted to have The Pope arrested if he came to England? Not if you only read Men's Rights subreddit you didn't. Because of all the abuse that priests did of young boys after which they were shuffled off to another parish and prot…

The priests didn't rape men, they raped young boys. Are you saying that that's better? Everyone is aware of male rape victims. The Catholic Church scandal was in the news for months. You know where it wasn't news? The Mens Rights Reddit. If the MRM is so concerned with advocating for male victims of rape, why when you search for Catholic Priest in the MR subreddit that not one story even comes up. Did you even know that Dawkins wanted to have the Pope arrested? Not if you only read the MR subred…

You reduce the number of men and boys being raped by arresting the male priests that raped them. Quoting debunked anti-feminist crusader statistics isn't going to reduce shit. Put down the kool-aid.

You're having trouble with alimony payments in a shit economy. You're thinking about bankruptcy and the fact that it doesn't clear alimony debt. Option 1: One second on google and you'll find this. alimony and bankruptcy Learn that you can get a reprieve or get a judge to look at a reassessment. Do a little more digging and find an attorney that can help you out. Or Option 2: Go to a Men's Rights blog. Hear "Blame Feminism!!!" Drink down the kool-aid and get no help. And just so you know. Helen of Troy is a fictional character in greek mythology loosely based on a person that may or may not have existed and certainly had nothing to do with any of the wars in Troy. You're using a character from Homer's Iliad Princess Leia could be seen as violent too I guess.

It's not subliminal social engineering. Maybe it was subliminal to the writer of the article because he wasn't actually watching the show. The entire premise of the show is that it's about socially awkward nerds. They're MEANT to be terrible around women. It's overt as hell. How realistic would it be to have a show about socially awkward nerds that are suave as fuck? And I know not all nerds are socially awkward. Well since Galtieri invaded the Falkland Islands after he had taken over Argentina by military junta, it's a pretty safe bet to say he started the war. Though yes, there have been a miniscule amount of women through history that have started a war or two. Though I don't think there have been any wars in which one of the participant countries wasn't run by a man.

Under old world patriarchy men are constrained to be gentlemen. Chivalry is a convention of a patriarchal system. ie Women are weaker and less capable than men therefore men must protect and care for them. That idea was around long before there was any such thing as feminism. Why do you think you use the term "White Knights" to describe men who are chivalrous.

This is an issue on which I split with the left. I'm absolutely against gun control. I think everyone should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon. If feminists want to exercise their 2nd amendment rights, I say more power to them. I didn't see a huge amount of outrage when a bunch of white male tea party slobs brought guns to a presidential speech by America's first black president.
/r/MensRights26/03/12 01:32 AM

I think you're confusing violence and oppression with self-defense. You see women that want to exercise their 2nd amendment right and you're afraid? I doubt you were so outraged when a bunch of white men brought guns to see a speech by the first black president. And SCUM speaks for feminism the same way the Black Panthers spoke for the civil rights movement.

Prepare to be downvoted. If theres one thing thats taboo in any MRA setting, it`s to call out the MRA party line that feminism is strictly anti-male. MRA is far more concerned with attacking women and feminism than it is about actually helping men.

Well since there's ONLY 2 GROUPS that could be abusers it has to be either the man is the abuser in the picture or the woman. Showing a man as an abuser isn't neglecting the flipside of the situation. Just like showing white racists wouldn't be ignoring that there are racists of all colors. And no.. even your analogies are sub-standard. It would be like showing any white people doing something racist and saying that Racism is Wrong (and last I checked, all Klansmen where white.) All evidence supports that men are more often abusive. Though if you look at just raw data, it seems women technically "initiate violence" more often than males. However, only in the strictest sense of initiating violence ie. punching you in the arm. Statistically, men are far more likely to injure a spouse. Basically a wife is more likely to punch her husband in the arm without physical provocation. But a husband is more likely to break his wife's jaw without physical provocation.

Remind your sister that she was never a feminist. She was a crazy chick that hated men. Inform her of the pro-male stances of much of feminism. ie. Agreed. Women need to go for better skills. But you're talking about the RAW wage gap. And the raw wage gap is used when you include part time workers and compare them to full time workers (hence the men work more hours and thus make more nonsense) Duh. Patriarchy refers to a SYSTEMIC problem of laws that HISTORICALLY empowered and gave men the means by which to make a living and be self-determinant and ascribed women as property and of having less rights. Quote and read the whole sentence. God dammit, am I going to have to capitalize every important word for you? Laws in the past came out of a patriarchal system. That is a historical fact. I love how critics don't understand the definitions or terms used in cultural critiques. Yeah easing the financial burden on men by having women in the workforce. Less pressure on men to get married and support a woman. How horrible feminism has been to us. MRA wants to return to the patriarchal structure which places all the burdens on men to provide financially and all the burdens on women to be property of a man, yet it's feminism that is the enemy of men? Wow. Not a red herring at all. The main question is about being both a feminist and a masculist. To be a masculist, one must confront the problems facing men. Most problems facing men are created by other men. Rich men and religious men create patriarchal laws that benefit themselves and siphon power and money upwards to themselves to the detriment of both men and women. Only powerful entrenched men benefit from setting feminism against masculism and men against women. To ignore that is to brush off …

Lol. The first sign of the anti-man sexist. Say that there isn't a problem and that women get equal pay therefore a movement for equal pay isn't necessary. Feminism has done amazing things to ease the burden of work on men and to free us from the social convention of marriage. If women aren't paid equally, then less women enter the workforce, which increases the burden of labor on men. This is the true agenda of most MRAs. Return to the patriarchal time when men were the sole breadwinner and all…

One would have to be a feminist to be a masculist. Men suffered under the patriarchy as well as women. Under patriarchal laws and social norms written by men, men were taught and expected to be providers and to treat women like queens.Women were taught that men are their only link to power and that subservience was better than responsibility. Because of feminism, men face far less social pressure to get married and women can now work and contribute to the household if men do decide to marry. Any…

So let's get this straight. If a woman wants a man to take care of her and their children, she's a gold digger, but if she wants a career she's irresponsible or taking rights away from men? Yeah, you're right.. clearly men are the ones facing the impossible situation. Lol.

Here's a better quote: "If Atheism is a religion, then off is a tv station." I love that the people who criticize atheism and skepticism usually don't understand what the words even mean.

Nevermind that college professors and "stupid shit like that" are the people that INVENTED the bulletproof vest that keep your mother safe. (The phrase she's looking for is "Thank you.") Let's focus on the fact that your mom isn't tough enough to be a teacher on the best day of her life. She thinks it's tough to strap on body armor and face thugs and gangsters? Try facing those same thugs and gangsters in a classroom WITHOUT a bulletproof vest and an entire police department at her fingertips fo…

I agree that Anri's point is bunk, but Greta's is still spot on. It doesn't matter if it's directed at one or all women. If you criticize a single woman based on her looks when it's irrelevant to the discussion, it's definitely misogynistic. Even if you COMPLIMENT a woman on her looks when it's irrelevant to the discussion, it's misogynistic, because you're implying her only value is in her sex appeal. Example 1: "I'll vote for Sarah Palin because she's hot." = Misogynistic. Implies her only val…

I don't know what's more entertaining about these comments. The fact that you don't understand the definition of the word religion, you don't understand the definition of the word atheist, or that you don't understand the definition of the word feminism.

Her comment was pretty self-explanatory. How is it unconvincing. Treating women as less than human as a whole group is misogyny. It's so basic, that it really is ridiculous to ask for clarification. It's like asking to define racism. Getting the reply, "A racist comment is any comment that condemns someone based solely on their race." And then you ask for clarification or proof. Really dude? You're just grasping at straws.

Your mom is a feminist. Every thing she's saying except for the tripe about feminists trying to take power away from men (and teaching not being the real world) is spot on. Just because someone doesn't identify as something, doesn't mean they're not that thing. All of her beliefs are feminist beliefs. It's because of feminism your mom is allowed to be part of the profession she's in. Actually most modern feminism has empowered men. There's less pressure on us to get married. You can thank 2nd wa…

I love that the same people who complain that "Action movies are unrealistic because there's no way a woman could do that kind of damage to a man." are the same ones that are crying that too many women abuse men. Also, the woman explaining that people should step in and help the man is a feminist.

Whoever wrote that is spot on. It's never a woman's fault that you're not attractive. It's yours. If you won't want to be in the friendzone, don't be her friend. If you want women to be attracted to you, be attractive. Simple.

Yes because if there's one thing that's always been in shortage, it's angry young men. Angry young men don't shape the future because angry young men are weak. It's usually why they're so angry. Alpha males are apathetic because they feel in control of the world and their situations. And if there is a problem, they solve it. They don't blame it on scapegoats (in the case of this subreddit, women) because they've failed at life.

You can explain that 2 + 2 = 5. But it doesn't. Mathematically, even the studies that you cite, prove you wrong. If you want to be willfully ignorant to support your viewpoint, you might as well just quote scripture and leave the science to people that understand it.

Hahahahah. Yeah, don't apologize for being part of a redundant, misinformed group of cowards that use women as scapegoats for their own life fails. "Earning the scorn of White Knights" - White Knights being the traditional symbol of honor, loyalty, courage, strength, chivalry and all that is good about maleness. It's like trying to insult somebody by calling them Superman. If you're against White Knights, doesn't that make you the bad guys?

Fuchsia's got yer number, but just to drive the point home. Oppression is defined as withholding rights from a certain demographic group of people. A culture of oppression? Well in North America traditionally, women couldn't vote, work, or join the military. The right to do these things was only ascribed to men. When you have a certain group that is allowed to do certain things and another group isn't, then it isn't a right, it's a privilege. Hence the term, "Male Privilege." But according to yo…

The study you're referring to puts mothers as a major number of abusers of children in raw data only, not percentages. The reason more mothers get arrested for abuse is because most children live with mothers instead of fathers. That's like saying that, in a place where 90% of the employees are women, most sexual abuse was committed by women. Well no shit, genius. If you look at percentages, if someone lives with a male parent, they are 4x more likely to be abused. And if they were using the str…

And again. What rights did men have 50 or 100 years ago that they don't have now? And better yet, what laws do you want to see on the books or removed from the books that would benefit men. Do you want: Husbands to be allowed to force wives to carry pregnancy to term? If not what's the alternative to "the husband having no say in a woman's pregnancy choices." Do you want: No financial responsibility from men if they impregnate a woman? Or is there an alternative? Should women have no legal right…

But even if I had asked about the sky, you still haven't answered why the sky is blue. And this subreddit isn't the Men's Movement, it's the Men's Rights Movement. Again.. common sense and a little research shows us that men still hold most of the advantagious rights. The only problems brought up here seem to be issues you have with how men are perceived and social norms, rather than rights issues. Men have a legal right to defend themselves from female attackers and female sexual assault. And t…

Saying those are male rights issue is like like saying black on black crime is a civil rights issue. Which even black leaders don't do. It's certainly a black issue but has nothing to do with rights and everything to do with social justice and economic inequality among the classes. And seriously. L.O.L. A social movement that battles historically for better quality education for all, for better working conditions, for safety on the streets, for child welfare, for social well being, for crisis centers, for women refugees from second world countries where women are persecuted simply for being women, and reforms in the law that are obviously slanted in the favor of men.

Reproductive rights? Which ones. That a woman chooses whether or not to have an abortion? She should. That would be like a woman telling you when you could or couldn't masturbate. Abuse industry? Men injure women more often than women injure men. You're confusing income as a means for income as an end in itself. Income is there to benefit the family as a whole. If a temporary loss of income can create a father/child bond, then that is essentially money well spent. What is the point of income if not to spend it on things that bring value.

Probably worse since it's common for women to be assaulted and injured by men and not so much the reverse. No guy worth a damn walks down the street alone at night afraid that a strange woman is going to approach and de-ball them. Also, I love how the MR response to over-emotional, easily offended feminism is to become more like the over-emotional, easily offended feminists. Way to race to the bottom. You're confusing progressive feminism with progressive liberalism, or "Progressives." One doesn't denote the other. The word just means to progress in the true definition of the word and doesn't always mean the substitute word for a "Liberal." Except for the fact that what you just wrote was bullshit. There are still more male lawyers and doctors than female doctors and lawyers. And what she said about women goes the same for men. The guy who wrote that article is clueless. The points he makes for why Men's Rights isn't ridiculous is itself evidence that Men's Rights is ridiculous. Over 28,000 men this year alone will commit suicide What the fuck does this have to do with Men's Rights? Did they commit suicide because they didn't have rights? This is mostly an economic and class issue. About 4,200 men will be killed in a work related accident Again, work safety issue. Still not seeing how this relates to Men's Rights. Huma…

So men and women can both benefit from a richer spouse legally? Yet there's still a need for Men's Rights? Actually since that's the case, shouldn't the entire Men's Rights forum be for feminism, since that would mean more rich women that men can marry and divorce?

It's a joke, shitheads. If it were a negative stereotype about women, you'd be laughing your asses off. Instead of trying to get men's rights (which you already have in abundance) how about you actually try to BE men and stop acting like little offended bitches.

Nothing. The struggle for men's rights is born out of misogyny. Men already have all the rights. Name a legal right men don't have? Or better yet, what is the goal of Men's Rights? What laws are oppressing specifically men and need to be changed? Basically Men's Rights is a good way to say, "Women don't want to fuck me and it's their fault."
