The attention of a man is one of the most readily abundant resources available to a woman. That is why it is worth nothing.

I do this as well, especially at the gym. I have a workout to do and if some guy is talking while I have headphones on must be talking to someone else. Anyone that goes to the gym consistently knows how to communicate hand signals to ask questions like "Is anyone using this?" Or "how many sets do you have left?" etc. Anything else that requires actually taking out my headphones probably doesn't need to be said.

I was gonna say, if I learn these things (which I have) I kick the guy to the curb. If they aren't willing to contribute to the relationship, why keep them around. Now I have a SO that cooks, cleans, take care of appointments, fixed stuff and cares about the gifts he gets me. What gets on my nerves is when guys I work with expect the women to plan events, help the new people and overall do the "Non-promotable" activities and then men take the credit for fostering a "welcoming environment". I don…

That distance you mentioned is somewhere between Mars and Jupiter. I would say that it confirms our belief there aren't very many good on this planet lol. 🤣🤣

I used to go to a Gym that the staff loved to watch the different game shows. It was funny when people be watching Wheel of Fortune and someone would blurt out the phrase out of nowhere or people trying to "Help" give answers to Family Fued. I also wouldn't leave my stair master until the show was over. Makes me wonder if I should get a setup in my house with a treadmill and some gameshow network lol.

I do like SVU especially for Olivia Benson. I am rewatching the series right now and it is interesting to see how things were when it first started compared to now.

Treat yo self. Sometimes I get dolled up and go take myself to a nice dinner just for me. I end up have a great time people watching and just enjoying the treat for myself. The only thing that ruins it is some sleezy dude that thinks he can invite himself to my table and interrupt my dinner because I am alone and obviously must be looking for a man.. ugh 🙄.

I had something similar happen to me 10 years ago. Guy wanted to meet for drinks then dinner and set up the time. I showed up, he was nowhere to be found, I ordered a drink and hung out, ended up seeing some friends of mine and chatted them up. After about a half hour, messaged the guy to see what was up. He "forgot" but wanted me to meet him at his place with his friends. I text back "No thanks" to the offer because that is sketchy as hell. He got super pissed I wouldn't meet him at his room wh…

I had a boss do the "I don't understand, that doesn't make any sense" when I would try to inform him of the work completed. What pissed me off more is if a MAN said the same thing he would go "Makes sense" He also blamed me for everyone hating him or avoiding him and he would forbid us from talking to the other shops or other shifts. Everything had to be ran through him. Fuck that, we all started talking and realized he was the piece of garbage and was trying to cause us all to be pitted against…

Dealing with a barrage of pick-me crap like that can be so exhausting. Leaving someone was a choice you made to better your situation. It doesn't matter if it was a year or a decade, you did what was good for you. The 10 year lady sounds like she was one-upping your suffering against her own. I don't blame you for needing some self care. It is hard to make good women friends.

I love to reference a David Goggins quote that kinda relates to this: “We live in a world with a lot of insecure, jealous people. Some of them are our best friends. They are blood relatives. Failure terrifies them. So does our success. Because when we transcend what we once thought possible, push our limits, and become more, our light reflects off all the walls they’ve built up around them. Your light enables them to see the contours of their own prison, their own self-limitations.” Many people …

Oh yeah for sure. I was young, naive and was scared of trying to leave because he would get so violent and upset when I would just try to have some space. It really didn't help when I tried to file for a no contact order/restraining order with the police and I was shrugged off because I didn't have evidence. They said my text records/instant messenger records of him threatening me if I left wasn't good enough and the verbal abuse/mental abuse was just a he said she said and couldn't be used. It …

Long ago I was asked to go to my then bf's therapy session because we needed to "Work things out". In the one session the therapist realized I wasn't the problem and the bf wanted to control me (not let me be out with friends, not be around family etc). He had told the therapist I wasn't committed and I was "going out with other people". Those other people he was talking about was my female best friend and my family. Therapist told me privately that I needed to leave him after he stormed out scr…

Mostly I flat out "no" or "I'm not doing that" but I am military and that doesn't work with some bosses. I can do that with peers and subordinates and some bosses but not someone high above me. They must hear a WHY I can't take on the party. Usually I push with "My review has plenty of volunteer stuff on it and I want to ensure others have opportunities to grow" usually the higher up bosses gush over that answer and leave it be. Sometimes I boomerang it if it is a peer/subordinate: I reply with …

Some that I have not iced in the workplace is when there is like an event to be planned... They turn to the women and go "So when is this happening" like only a woman would plan am event The other one is "Oh, someone needs to take notes" turns to a woman and says "You probably have good handwriting" Work has had us deem them "unconscious bias" and to call them out anytime we catch it. Some realize it and quit and other get super defensive and mad.

I feel bad for the sister being harassed. It sounds like she wants to tell her sister but is afraid of losing the relationship with the sister. I have a friend that was in the same situation and she instantly told her sister (married to the NVM) that the NVM had wanted to get with her. She thought she was doing her sister a solid and letting her know that her husband unfaithful and the married sister turned on her and said that she was coming onto her husband and was just jealous. The husband ha…

One thing I have also noticed among HV women is they don't see someone who is better at X,Y,Z as a competition situation. It is more how can we all being each other up instead of being jealous of these abilities that others are good at. For example, I have a friend who is good at running, instead of being envious of her and talking shit, I asked if she could help me be a better runner. She gave me tips and helped me work on my form so my running got better. She is not a good baker and I am. She …

I have been asked this a lot and I found it rude everytime. Like why does some stranger want to know about my 1. Sex life 2. My reproductive capability and 3. My financial situation to know if I could even support a child. All three are none of their business. Usually I respond with "Well that's very personal and none of your business." My brother and his wife aren't having kids either and we all had a discussion about how much we get asked those questions and how rude they are. I honestly think…

This was exactly how I felt as well. I used to avoid conflict/uncomfortable situations at all costs when I was younger. When on a date, I would pay for myself so that there was no reason the man could think some kind of reimbursement was due for purchasing my meal. I used to hate/dread dating because so many shitty dudes would get so angry, loud, confrontational, aggressive and scary when I didn't want to have sex just because he purchased a meal. No one owes them a damn thing for buying a meal.…

If I find out one of my friends finalizes a divorce I do something special for them. Some wanna party, others just want cinnamon rolls or some cookies. So many people get judgy about celebrating something like that saying "why celebrate something bad? You shouldn't make a big deal about it." My response usually along the lines of "why shouldn't we celebrate? Tell me what is "BAD" about divorce? She recognized that she was in a shitty situation and went through the gauntlet of divorce to better h…

I am also wary of these men. I have heard so many stories where these men "Had an ex that had a cat and it hated him" and then proceeds to tell stories how he was a dick to the cat. Like no shit the cat hated you, cats don't put up with as much as a dog will to being picked on. This is a big red flag that they don't respect boundaries (clearly he didn't respect the cat's boundaries) and wants loyalty no matter how they treat people/animals. No thanks.

Yeah, it was why I wanted to get away. I dated some pretty LVM and was miserable. I was like "This sucks, why would anyone want to get married and do this all the time?" And when I broke up with men my grandmother would ask "What did you do wrong?" Nothing brought up about the verbal abuse, gaslighting and complete lack of care/effort on his part except when I was leaving dust on the gravel road. Joining the military got me away from all that garbage and I have been working on unlearning all tha…

I wish my family would have taught me this instead of being repeatedly told I have no value unless I find a man who is successful. I was a smart, stubborn and opinionated kid that was pressured constantly to stop being so loud, stop showing I'm smarter/more athletic than the boys, wearing jeans and t-shirts all the time and I need to be more quiet, let the men thinking they are smarter, stronger etc, act more lady like, wear more dresses, and make up to get a good man but from the same people be…

I don't work there anymore but I have my fingers crossed that his co-workers in his office keep on him because they were tired of the stories and didn't like the disrespect too. I just gave them the clear message that gets under his skin to annoy to him when he brings up the "Crazy girl" stuff. Knowing the co-workers, they will probably correct him until he freaks out and then they will say "Why are you acting crazy?" And when he explains they are doing stuff to him he said doesn't like they wil…

Yeah, I don't think he will listen but with as many of his co-workers all pointing out the same thing maybe he will wake up but I doubt it. I am just glad that more and more women are putting their foot down and not tolerating this shitty behavior from men.

I had a co-worker not in my direct office state the same thing about liking crazy girls and I said that it is a self fulfilling prophecy. I said that he could find a well adjusted person and then once he knows some vulnerability he will exploit it to get the girl to act "Crazy" which is super messed up. He did not take it well that I called him out. A few months later he was bragging about some girl he was dating and she didn't like that he did XYZ and he did XYZ because he didn't think it was a…

I am also a Giver by nature and also had to learn to set boundaries as well. When I see others with the giving nature I usually provide the advise, "Givers have to set boundaries because Takers don't have any". It is great that you cut those people out that want to just take and not give in return. All these people do is bleed Givers dry and then get upset that the Giver can't give more. Take care of yourself and your priorities first. Once I pushed those people out of my life and focused on me …

The amount of audacity I have witnessed lately in people in general, mainly men at work, I have started to ask "Did audacity go on sale because you seem to have a lot of it to come at me like that." It pisses a lot of people off to be called out but they get the hint I will not be treated poorly or taken advantage of.

That is amazing you are teaching the next generation. Women endured so much but the past can't be changed. We learn from it and make it better for our future by changing it for the better and not putting up with the bad behavior of LVM/NVM. I endured a lot of what you did, the verbal abuse and physical abuse being the prominent ones that give me the most guilt. I was always a strong willed girl growing up and today I think back and wonder how did I allow such bad treatment to occur? When I saw m…
