But the guy calmly walks out the house (while "Roxette - It must have been love, but it's over now" playing full blast on the stereo), locks the door, throws his key through the mail slot and drives away.

I don't understand why you are comparing an adult with a child. These are 2 adults! I bed that if it had been a small skinny guy who smacked a big muscular woman like that, you would have no issues with her returning the favor. I know I wouldn't. Equal rights. Equal lefts. This is a grown ass woman. She should know what the consequences of hitting someone could (should) be. Just because she decides to hit someone bigger than herself, doesn't mean that the victim should take a few minutes to calculate how much of a punch they are "allowed" to respond with. It's a reflex response.
