Look the argument goes like this If the suicide attempt is unsuccessful, it won't be reported if you're a man. If it's successful, then it will be reported It's both the reason why suicide attempts stay undetected and why there are more successful suicide attempts, one does not exclude the other

How? They are usually not discovered on an attempt, hence why mens suicides tend to be more successful. Women have a lot of mental support around them which is a good thing and is the reason is one of the reasons why the numbers of successful suicides is relatively low. But compare it to men who commit suicide. No friends nor family nor society that supports them, of course their attempts are more successful. And if not there are no people to report them.
