Men historically were the primary breadwinners, so desireable women became valuable commodities (sex sells). Its not a patriarchy problem, its a capitalism problem. Women are getting more degrees and tend to do better in developed service economies. When they eventually become the primary breadwinners, and the pattern reverses, feminism wont have an explanation.
