I also told him you either trust the person you're with and you deal with your insecurities respectfully, or you don't, and you break up. This! I really needed to read this.

But living with the fact that there is one like this around the corner always, and that you have no way of coping up seems like a low standard to set oneself up with.

Cool! Yes diversification is very important. Learnt that the hard way earlier. I will find equivalent stuff where I live!

Yes. But including by choice for social interactions is waning away/ hard as one gets older.

It seems that you are still struggling to accept the death of your romantic illusions. Strikes hard! But yeah deep down maybe! an area of philosophy called absurdism, Will sure do!

Just be careful with that. Namely, when does self-muhprovethem't end? When is that particular "now" when you are the ok-est the exact way you are in that moment (possibly longer)? Haha! Just to clarify, I don't need to prove anyone any damn thing. Am just working on myself to be purposeful and be better at whatever I do. Psssst. Is it possible being lonely is yet another way of being... poor with options? May be, but am inclined to think not so.

Thanks for the suggestions man!

Hey! It's just hard to articulate. But thinking hard I guess it's due to loss of balance. Between entertainment that amuses you but makes you feel empty , social interactions that comfort you but require many compromises and working towards your ideals that require much of your energy, I think I somehow am finding trouble finding the sweet spot. I don't know if it even makes sense!

Makes sense! Have just kickstarted my FIRE journey. Based on my current income it would take another 7 years optimistically. I live in the east so the numbers wouldn't make much sense! 250k$ on assets is great man!

That's a lot of good suggestions! I really like the becoming aware / acceptance of the uneasiness. Neither numb it nor act on it! I have heard about this but never got to practice this! Thanks a lot man! Love the Pink floyd reference!

I think yes! I believe it has less to do with physicality / sexuality.

I find the setting in to be not very controllable atleast consciously. Sure being occupied helps but it just slips in sometimes. At this point family and friends are not very close. Dog is a great idea!

Totally, don't wanna risk my freedom for companionship! Oh didn't know that.. Will check it out!

I think I normally do everything you've recommended minus the drinking part. The trouble is during these down times to have the self discipline / motivation to forcefully push myself into doing these...

I believe it's not FOMO. As I had said I am neither super busy nor idling. The interactions I have only sickens me with the boring pop culture topics.

With adult life, work occupies the major time of the day. But its just so hard to make friends with men of the same age group at work as most of them have married. It's not as easy or fun as friends during say college times. A dog is a good idea! Am also working towards FIRE btw! 🙂

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
