Men are cannon fodder, women are the breeding stock. Men who don't conform are weak, women who don't conform are prudes. Both should feel safe. Suggesting we should work to make one group feel safe doesn't mean we shouldn't work on the other's safety. I agree that there needs to be a discussion about mens treatment in society but the "all lives matter" style of arguments have always been reductive and unhelpful

Its illegal to not hire on the basis of sex. It is not illegal to talk down to coworkers based on sex. There are plenty of abuses that go unnoticed or unpunished that make it harder for women to work in the tech industry, just like there is preferential treatment in custody battles in courts. Just because its illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I agree, but sometimes that's way more difficult to establish than this and can we ask these people to wait that long? Obviously I'd prefer if this was an open program and I do think gendering stuff like this hurts us all in the long run but I don't think that makes programs like this evil or bad, more that we as a people need to do better at making these industries actually care about merit instead of shit people cannot control. That's a false equivalent. Those jobs aren't in nearly as high demand as tech and don't provide the kind of secure, livable wages that the tech industry supplies. Construction is a noble job that society needs. But that doesn't mean everyone can do that kind of work. Tech is just blatantly more approachable and safer for the everyman.

While I can understand the logic, I don’t agree. This kind of ad that is more in favor of treating men like people should be rewarded. Go ahead and dislike the shitty gillette ad, but disliking this will only discourage more male positive ads in the future. The reason is a fair one, but It’s stupid how they wouldn’t just offer a second unisex class for girls. The only justification I can think of (which seems pretty legitimate) is that they either don’t have the resources or the female attendance is too small to be financially sound. They are a business at the end of the day. They have to turn a profit.
