The first two complaints I can empathise with. The third complaint - an unoriginal dinner date, not so much. Given how many people exist on the dating market, compared to the number of conceivable activities available in any city, just how many dates do you think you could go on before something becomes ‘unoriginal’?

Do what everyone should do and accept that life is hard, it isn’t fair, and just keep trying.

For you maybe not, for me it does. Humans are not a monolith.

I’ve dated an asexual woman before and was fine without sex because she still helped me “get off” when I wanted to. I was very happy with her, the lack of sex wasn’t a problem at all.

You might still want the intimacy that comes with a relationship. Asexuality also exists on a scale. You might be asexual and willing to do things to please your partner but not be bothered about your own pleasure.

Women tend to check out emotionally before they break up with you. If they’re breaking up with you today, they’ve likely been preparing for it for a while.

In the context of dating and relationship, men and women need each other. However, men want women more than women want men. If men could stop being so thirsty, the discrepancy wouldn’t be so large. It’s like the sex work industry - we can blame women all we like but the reason it exists is because men give it oxygen.

That’s just them being disrespectful then. I can sleep with a single mother but not want a relationship with her and still be respectful about it. There’s nothing hypocritical about it.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/02/24 06:32 PM

I never understand the logic behind this reasoning. It’s widely accepted that there are people we would happily have sex with but not form long term relationships with for a myriad of reasons. I would sleep with a woman who, for example, has a gambling addiction. However, I wouldn’t want a long term-relationship with her because that brings a lot of problems that I don’t want to deal with. This doesn’t make me anti-gambling. If she wants to gamble, it’s her right to do as she chooses. Why is it …

Because the same men are having sex with more women….

Your argument doesn't make sense if you consider that many average men have partners, so these women must find/have found that man attractive enough at least at the first point of contact to allow the relationship to flourish. If we assume that that only happens because the man approached the woman, the result would be the same if the woman were to approach the man.

Modern. I don't want to be the sole provider, nor would I want to be a SAHD. The only line in the sand I have regarding what she does for income is sex work, otherwise I don't care what she does or how much she makes, as long as she isn't expecting me to pay for everything all the time. Similarly, the division of household chords is split 50/50 or as near as hours allow.

Speaking as a 30 y/o man, try to be aware of and limit the schadenfreude my guy. It just makes you come off as bitter and it opens the door for feelings of self-superiority. Enjoy your newfound success, but don't forget to carry yourself well.

I think “creepy” comes specifically from the physical power imbalance that exists between men and women. An unattractive man approaching a woman could be considered as creepy because, realistically, he has a more imposing physical presence and most women will have in the back of their head that he could physically overpower them or even hurt them. If you as a man were approached by an unattractive woman who might socially awkward or a little more persistent than you appreciate (two behaviours co…

I disagree, mostly because I believe if we start to think we deserve something but then don't receive that, it leads to resentment and that isn't healthy. I personally believe the reward for being a good person, whether it's being loyal, loving, caring etc is simply having a positive effect on others with no regard to what you receive in return. However, if you think you deserve something and aren't resentful when you don't receive it then fair enough, each to their own. Thank you for the kind w…

I don't think I "deserve" any kind of woman. I think the entire notion of "deserving" a woman is bordering on incel tendencies. The reason I don't want to be the sole provider is because I don't want a woman to be solely dependent on me for anything, not just because I think equality means women should be contributing financially but also because if things were to end and she was left with no financial prospects, I'd feel guilty.

I don’t need to be needed per se, but I certainly like feeling wanted, in the way that I offer something to my SO that she lacks.

This is a controversial topic and I don’t necessarily agree with OP, though I do get the spirit of their point. My perspective as a man: If you’re pale, be pale. Don’t feel the need to wear foundation and/or concealer. I don’t wear it so I don’t expect you to. I’m not a fan of the whole ‘Kardashian lips’ look. I don’t mind thin lips at all - in fact I have thin lips too. I like the ‘minimal makeup’ look which, as I understand it, is a bit of mascara and some eye liner. Outside of that I really d…

Well it’s not really possible to say one way or the other and apply that across men as a whole - we aren’t a monolith. By and large, however, I would say it would be preferable for men to give more care to their appearance than they currently do.

Well that depends on what those men want from life. If they don't care about romantic relationships then sure - good for them. But if you want to find a romantic partner you're obviously going to have more success if you give a shit about how you present yourself to the world. Think of the whole concept of the 80/20 rule. I would bet any amount of money that the top 20% of guys consist of competent men who exercise regularly, eat decently well, look after their skin, style their hair in a way th…

It requires discipline and hard work, which many men aren't prepared to do. I also think that there's no expectation put on men to care about their appearance during their teenage years the same way that women are, which leads to countless young men not giving a shit about it when they grow older.

You're correct if you look at this at the very highest level possible - yes the desire to be with a person is 'all' that is needed. However, multiple factors constitute this desire to be with somebody. How aligned your personal beliefs are, age difference, your hobbies/interests, lifestyle choices, physical appearance, sexual appetite, and so on. If anything, I would argue the most significant factor of whether two people date each other or not is how willing each person is to compromise on thes…

It’s okay to not be into women with a significant sexual past. It’s okay to stop seeing women if you learn they have a significant sexual past. These are both preferences, preferences are fine. It’s not okay to expect every woman not to have a significant sexual past just because you prefer it. It’s not okay to shame a woman who has a significant sexual past just for her having one. Women have their own agency and can do as they please. If the consequence of this is you not being interested, tha…
