Can you point to anything that corroborates your definition? It's pretty much the opposite of the one typically given by people who do use it.

Why 'toxic masculinity' isn't a useful term for understanding all of the ways to be a man ... has anyone ever claimed this? It reads like an obvious strawman.

Considering the notion "I don't want my genitals to be mutilated" a form of privilege is the most stupid bullshit I've heard.

This wasn't my point. Let me reiterate: If you legally enforce censorship of hate speech (which I do not consider covered under free speech), lots of legitimate content that should be protected as free speech falls victim to the same procedures. There are two main reasons for that: 1) Twitter won't hire dozens of people sifting through every tweet 24/7. As every other platform censoring user-generated content, they write algorithms to cover this. They would rather see 1000 legitimate tweets dele…

While I understand that this post is legitimately well-meaning... Half a year ago, our government (Germany) passed the so-called NetzDG ("network enforcement law"), proposed by Heiko Maas, minister of justice and consumer protection. It's designed to combat hate speech on social media platforms, threatening said platforms with huge fines if they don't comply. As many tech-savy people had warned, it led to a tremendous amount of self-censorship and content filtering on the part of Twitter, Facebo…

She isn't trying to bring attention to guys who expose themselves. She's showing her ass to the whole train station to label those who look as harassers. Please don't ask me about the logic behind that plan because there is none. It's attention whoring people and attention whoring media, great combo, and because sex sells incredibly well this will get millions of clicks (see: youtube videos with fake sexy preview images, Italian TV shows, ads for alcohol...) all while people pat themselves on th…

Speaking from a third party perspective, there's also a lot of slut shaming from insecure guys when they've been rejected. But that doesn't put pressure on someone in a way it does when it comes from their own parents.

I may go to jail, but I have to right this wrong. Is she gonna give him four years of his life back and remove all the certainly awesome experiences from those years in prison? You can't right that wrong, and you better fucking accept that. Every single day you let him rot in there is a crime you committed, and only because you put a stop to it doesn't erase those years.

Yet those are concerns for parents because everyone knows kids can be cruel and they just want theirs to fit in. No matter how unrealistic the scenario, it factors into their decisions. Also many people are very big on following traditions no matter how outdated because it's easier than questioning stuff. Some dads might no be comfortable admitting to themselves they are missing something.

In younger years the foreskin and head of the penis are actually fused together in a sense, which protects the head from infections and the like. It takes years before it can be pulled back normally. Forcing them apart early and cutting off the foreskin isn't only very painful and completely unnecessary, but exposes the head and poses a risk of infection around the wound as well. As a good rule of thumb only the boy should ever pull back the foreskin as it should not be pulled back as long as it…

Circumcision, and it's due to a mixture of medical misinformation, hygiene myths, downplaying the procedure, and fear of "not fitting in" when your son is the only one with a foreskin in the locker room.
/r/MensRights14/02/17 07:45 PM

You do not feel more than before. Your head is constantly exposed and rubs against fabric, the skin gets thicker and you are less sensitive there. In addition, the foreskin itself is where many nerve endings are located. I can find sources if you want.

actually in younger years the foreskin and head of the penis are fused together in a sense, which protects the head from infections and the like. Forcing them apart early and cutting off the foreskin greatly increases the risk of infections this way. The foreskin should not be pulled back by force. It takes years before it can be pulled back comfortably, and only from that point on you need to clean under it. A good rule of thumb is that only the boy should ever pull it back.

People don't like it because if humans are given the chance to make an informed decision about such things, the practice would quickly become the exception rather than the norm, and that's a "slippery slope" which may affect other things like baptizing. Also there has been a lot of propaganda from within the medical community in American media promoting it because it's quite the business at this point.

Kinda tough to believe that it's an individual problem rather than a fundamental issue with thousands of dead civilians annually, and most of them just wanted to "keep the baddies out". Everyone always thinks they are one of the people who can be trusted with a gun, until your toddler shoots himself, or you just sat down while forgetting to put the safety back on once and now your wife is paralyzed or the nice elderly man next door won't have to get new glasses after all. Nope, it's never yourse…

Well, awesome. Let's put the guy in jail for negligence, because him being unfathomably stupid and irresponsible with a lethal weapon he was trained with is what made it possible.
/r/MensRights09/01/16 03:26 PM

She had no training. Pulling the trigger is what clueless people do when they pretend to shoot at someone. The majority of the responsibility is with the dude, who, despite his experience with handling guns, took a loaded gun, gave it to someone who likely doesn't have a clue about gun safety, and told them to point it at him. It's pretty damn close to assisted suicide if you ask me.
/r/MensRights09/01/16 03:25 PM
1

It's closer to assisted suicide than manslaughter imo.
/r/MensRights09/01/16 03:21 PM
1

On top of that, he was the gun owner, he should've known better every step along the way. Handing a loaded gun to somebody with no gun safety training and telling them to point it at you; that's almost assisted suicide. It's more like if a couple gave their 7 year old kid the keys to the SUV, and they run someone over. You can't expect the kid to know better, they have neither training nor experience. But the parents do, and they knew that! So I'd have a hard time feeling sorry for them.

It was their first date. Also, it's mostly his fault for being unfathomably stupid and irresponsible. If I owned a gun, and gave it to someone with no gun safety training while it's loaded, and told them to point it at me, I have nobody to blame but myself for getting shot. Pulling the trigger is what clueless people do when they pretend shooting at something; he really paved the entire way for the incident although he should've known better at every single step. I only feel sorry for his family…

Read the article next time rather than believing OP, I made the same mistake... Gun owner goes on a date. Trying to impress his date, he pulls out his gun, gives it to her (loaded with safety off), and tells her to pretend to shoot at him so he can snapchat it. She actually pulls the trigger. I'm sorry; that's what clueless people do when they pretend shooting at someone! You don't go waving around loaded guns, much less give it to someone without gun safety training! This is, like, 85% his faul…

The guy was the owner of the gun. He knew it's not a toy, it shouldn't be given to people who weren't taught how to handle guns, especially not when it's loaded. Yes, she pulled the trigger, and for that she definitely is to blame. But seriously, he is at fault the most here. He went wrong in every single point of gun safety to show off for her. I can't excuse that. Either of them at any point could've killed someone unintentionally, and that situation is entirely his fault. He even told her to …

The way it's phrased made me think she was a cold-blooded killer. It was an accident in which the guy is probably more to blame than her since he should fkn know how to handle a gun, and not to give it to people who don't, especially when it's loaded. Also yay for an armed society.

I think in the decision when it's appropriate to restrict an individual's bodily autonomy, no religion should be allowed to demand their standpoint should be given special consideration. You can make decisions based on your religious belief for yourself, but not for others. If you're a Christian that opposes every abortion, no matter how early, then don't get one! But that doesn't mean you can make that decision for everyone else. Considering the biological facts, a fertilized egg cannot be cons…

Don't make this a gender debate please... FGM is considerably worse, as both are shitty practices. The fact that circumcision is generally expected in the US sucks, it's an outdated religious practice with no advantages and a number of potential problems. We should just stop cutting off pieces of children's genitals, seriously it's fucking crazy what kind of shit people rationalize as long as it's "tradition".

Do you shower regularly? If so, where's the issue? You need to go several days without cleaning before smegma becomes an issue. It's like saying I'd cut part of my ears off rather than cleaning them occasionally.

I never understood why circumcision is a thing among Christians in the US. The Jewish community does it, yeah, but they are known to follow much stricter rules without questioning. Why do non-devout Christians do it to their kids? It's just another fucking stupid convention everyone follows instead of using their brain.

Police say they were following protocol and used no undue force. Moore Police Chief Jerry Stillings calls the actions of his officers reasonable. How do these people even have the stomach to make statements like that after they just killed an innocent man without any evidence of wrondoing, not to mention if a human life has any value at all for them.

I still think there's a difference between a supposed "societal pressure on women" to dress revealingly (which is still a choice, no matter how you look at it), and actually being forced by your husband or family to cover up completely. Now I'm not saying that's true for every woman wearing a nikab or burka, and if it's a true choice (meaning you don't get into trouble for not doing so) I'm completely okay with it; But it does definitely happen. I doubt any woman was ever forced to wear a bikini…

Biologically MtF trans are not actually women, they are men who believe that they are women. This is not scientific, it's his personal opinion. He refuses to see them as women. "Biologically trans" means they underwent SRS, which means they are biologically not "just man" or "just woman", which is what "transgender" entails. Furthermore, transgender people who did not undergo SRS and "simply" identify as the opposite gender have every right to do so and "they are not women" is highly opinionated…

The implication in "men who believe that they are women" is pretty clear. I don't know what your definition of "scientific fact" is, but it sure as hell does not extend to what people identify as sexually.

This is only a fact under the presumption that your biological sex is all you can possibly identify as. Which is incorrect. men who believe that they are women Woo, so you know better what they feel like than they do? Asshole.

Preventing phimosis with circumcision is like preventing a broken arm with amputation. Most cases of phimosis can be resolved by stretching the foreskin. No surgery needed.

Really, this is awful. I'm really lucky things like that haven't happened to me yet. Of course you have to be concerned about your kids, but treating every other (male) adult as rapist because they don't run away from every kid that might play nearby is just stupid. Especially since kids are so cheerful and interesting little people. I find myself enjoying almost every conversation I have with kids since they think in ways you'd never expect.

I thought the left one was the parody at first... why would you claim they are not responsible for their actions? Are men not responsible either then? Who is? If you drink alcohol, you have to know your limits. If you don't, of course you are responsible for your actions, no matter your gender. Edit: I derped.
